It is today that we create the world of the future.
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Dear Student,
It has been a true pleasure getting to know you this year and watching you grow. The time you have spent at QAIS has opened the door to knowing our fine teachers and staff. It is my sincere hope that you will enjoy this 2011-2012 yearbook as a reminder of the good times you have had at QAIS and the lasting friendships that will enrich your lives in the years to come.
As a school community, we have continually sought ways in which to enhance the quality of our programs. From Mon-tessori, to IB, to extracurricular activities, to day trips and overnight field trips, we are proud to have made learning more inquiry-based, more holistic, and more connected to the outside world. As you strive to become internationally-minded citizens, you are gaining the necessary skills and confidence to become global leaders who are poised and ready to tackle the challenges that lie ahead for humanity. With an innovative mind, a compassionate heart and optimism, you will make great contributions to society and to the world.
As I reflect on the year, I am reminded of an African proverb, which states: “It takes a village to raise a child.” It is es-sential then, to take a moment to express gratitude to all the people who have contributed to your intellectual, social, and emotional growth:
Firstly, I would like to thank your teachers and the QAIS staff for their hard work and dedication since August. Their love and care for you has made our school a stimulating, safe, creative place in which to learn.
In addition, I would like to thank your parents and guardians for their unconditional support of your growth, and for participating readily in our programs and special events. Their volunteer spirit and enthusiasm helped to produce fun and memorable celebrations that were enjoyed by all.
Now that summer is upon us, I wish you a pleasant and peaceful vacation in the company of family and friends. I look forward to welcoming you back in August as we continue our journey together and strive to inspire a lifelong love of learning in our entire QAIS community.
Safe travels and best wishes always.
Sincerely,
Christopher C. VicariEd. D CandidateM.S. / M.A.T.

From Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese-speaking backgrounds, the First Graders have done amazing work in English! They have inquired into Signs and Symbols and the Life Cycle, sharpened their Math skills, and learned about how they came from their home countries to live in this beautiful city by the sea.

EllenOne thing that I learned from QAIS is we are all in one family, and we are all friends. Friends are very important for our life. Friends can make you happy when you feel very bad. They can make you feel better. Friends have empathy, they know what you are thinking and what you are feeling.
HarryOne thing I really like from QAIS is that we can go out and play games like soccer.
IanOne thing I learned this year at QAIS is we investigated baking soda and vinegar! It turned into bubble water. I didnít know this, but now I know it.
