6Higher EducationOur Bachelor level Degree courses meet the requirements of the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) within a rigorous accreditation process, ensuring strength of curriculum, teaching and facilities. Endeavour degree programs are accredited through the Office of Higher Education in Queensland. We have mutual recognition for our degrees in Victoria and Western Australia. Many Endeavour graduates pursue postgraduate study in the various fields of natural medicine at universities here and overseas.

Vocational EducationOur Diploma and Certificate courses are accredited as nationally recognised training programs through the Department of Education and Training (DET) in Queensland. Clinical Practice Students in their final semesters of study complete their clinical practice in the college-based professional natural medicine clinics.

All courses at Endeavour College incorporate theoretical and practical aspects of natural health care to ensure the highest calibre of graduates.

Students will complete many hours of clinical practice throughout their degree course. Working as student practitioners, students gain practical experience in communication, case taking, health assessment, clinic and client management and occupational health and safety.

Endeavour College clinics also build the students understanding of State legislation in relation to infection control, risk and hazard identification, risk management and first aid techniques.

The clinics are open to the public and staffed by senior students who treat clients under the supervision of qualified practitioners. The clinics treat over 1000 clients each week. This valuable, on-site clinical experience gives students the chance to develop confidence by putting what they have learnt into practice.

Naturopathy uses the holistic principles of Hippocrates to treat the underlying cause and the whole person, not just the symptoms. The role of the naturopathic clinician is to facilitate this process through teaching and providing a range of holistic medicines. The study of Naturopathy includes herbal medicine, diet and nutrition, flower essence therapy, nutritional supplementation and naturopathic diagnostic techniques.

9The Acupuncture practitioner restores the harmonious flow of energy by influencing the acupuncture points with needles, lasers, or finger pressure. Traditional Chinese Medicine practiced alongside acupuncture uses Chinese herbs and traditional medicines to stimulate and strengthen healing mechanisms and restore balance.

Nutritional Medicine is the study of food, its nutrients and how diet affects health and wellbeing. The Nutritional Medicine practitioner views food, diet and nutritional supplements from the perspective of their therapeutic potential, providing dietary advice to clients and prescribing nutritional supplements to assist in the treatment of a broad range of health conditions.

Ebony graduated in 2007 and has become a Rehabilitation Consultant in Canberra, assisting those affected by workplace injuries or accidents by liaising with doctors, surgeons and physiotherapists and insurance agencies in developing Return to Work plans.

Ebony develops treatment strategies to help people return to work and gives advice on exercises and changes they can make in their workplace. No two days are the same as she travels considerably and visits all types of work places, talking with doctors, surgeons and other practitioners. She does ergonomic assessments and full clinical history and injury reports.

The Bachelor of Health Science (Homeopathy) provides the practical and theoretical skills to become Homeopathic practitioners and researchers. The course uses dynamic lectures and interactive, informative tutorials to cover studies in Homeopathic philosophy and medicines as well as in-depth studies in clinical Homeopathy, appropriate Western medical sciences, interpersonal skills and research methods.

Course Duration The Bachelor of Health Science (Musculoskeletal Therapy) can be completed in 3.5 years full-time. There are two semester intakes per year in late February and early August. Semesters are 18 weeks long including one week mid semester break.


Graduates of the Bachelor of Health Science (Homeopathy will have more than 500 hours of clinic experience. To support learning, it is expected that students will actively participate in practical classes and this includes having techniques practiced upon them by fellow students under the supervision of qualified staff. This will be conducted with due respect for privacy and cultural and/or religious differences.

Course Duration Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice can be completed in 14 weeks full-time. The Diploma of Remedial Massage can be completed in 28 weeks full-time.

Practical Clinic ExperienceStudent Clinics are open to the public and staffed by senior students under the supervision of qualified practitioners. This course provides graduates with the ability to assess and treat soft tissue dysfunction, to alleviate pain and enhance movement and function. Detailed studies of massage, soft tissue techniques, assessment and management of muscle injury, anatomy, physiology and pathology, clinical practice, and interpersonal skills are included. Aromatherapy is a science which utilises the therapeutic properties of plants and their essential oils, including plant volatile oils from flowers, leaves, stems, buds, branches or roots extracted using water and steam distillation or cold-pressing.

Graduate Success StoryJulie Gardiner, Aromatherapist

Julie completed her Certificate IV in Remedial Therapies (Aromatherapy) in 2004 and began her practice in Aromatherapy from home. She started volunteer work as the complementary therapist at a Retirement Centre and has a therapy room where residents receive gentle massage and their own personal blend. She uses electric vapourisers in every lounge room to provide a pleasant environment to residents, staff and visitors. The staff are very appreciative of her Aromatherapy program which complements their care of residents. Julie says the satisfaction of working in aged care is plentiful and varied, especially in seeing the effect that a gentle touch can bring to someone. She continued her studies and has now completed the Diploma of Aromatherapy.

Visa ApplicationThe main requirements for visa applications:

Letter of Offer and Confirmation of Enrolment from the College

Medical check-up as required by regulation

Proof of financial support as required by regulation

These requirements are intended as a guide only and may vary from country to country. For applicants from some countries a preliminary, pre-visa assessment may be required by the Australian High Commission or Consulate of your country. It is advisable to make enquiries in your home country.

All international students (i.e. students who are not Australian/New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, Indigenous Australians, Torres Strait Islanders, or temporary residents) must be in possession of a current student visa while they are studying in Australia. Student Visas are granted with certain conditions attached. Please see some conditions listed below:

International students must maintain a full-time study program.

International students are not permitted to study part-time unless they are already in Australia on a spouses study visa or a diplomatic or dependant temporary resident visa

Student visas are usually issued for the period of the course. Students must seek a new visa before expiration of their current visa

Endeavour College of Natural Health is obliged to report to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) any student who does not attend classes or who is not making satisfactory progress in their studies. Should your attendance be unsatisfactory, you will be requested to attend an interview with DIAC. Students with unsatisfactory attendance or progress may have their visa cancelled by DIAC and asked to leave the country.

Visa Conditions Students must notify Endeavour College

of their address within 7 days of arrival in Australia and within 7 days of any change of address.

It is a requirement that International students organise Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for themselves and their family

members travelling with them in Australia throughout their stay in Australia. Endeavour College can assist you in obtaining OSHC and is obliged to arrange for the full length of your student visa. If you wish to organise your own OSHC or already have OSHC, please provide Endeavour College of Natural Health with the supporting documents.

Students must attend a minimum of 80% of all scheduled classes on campus and maintain satisfactory attendance.

Dependants of International students must enrol in either a government or non-government school registered to accept dependants of fee paying overseas students.

Contact DIAC for more information about requirements for dependants when studying in Australia or refer to the DIAC website at www.immi.gov.au.

The student must remain enrolled at all times.

The student must not change Education Provider within the first six months of commencing the principal course.

Note: Each Endeavour campus is considered as a different Education Provider, so changing campuses would be considered as a change of Education Provider.

The student is expected to attend all classes and undertake all tests and examinations during a course and abide by all rules and regulations of Endeavour College that are in force at the time.

Endeavour College may by written notice vary conditions of enrolment as may be necessary to comply with any law, regulations or amendment thereof, of the Commonwealth and/or the States of Australia.

The Contract between the Applicant and Endeavour College of Natural Health is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia and the States of Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales and South Australia.

In the event of circumstances requiring urgent medical care where it is not possible to contact the parent/guardian, Endeavour College is authorised as a matter of urgency to seek and provide appropriate medical care.

Other Conditions Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Framework

The Australian Government through the Department of Education, Employment and

Workplace Relations (DEEWR) regulates the education and training sectors involvement with overseas students studying in Australia on student visas. It does this through the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) legislative framework. This protects Australias reputation for delivering quality education services and the interests of overseas students, by setting minimum standards and providing tuition and financial assurance. Work Rights

As an International student in Australia you should have enough money to support yourself and your family for the entire time that you are studying. You are not automatically given the right to work once you are in Australia. If you do need to get a job while studying, you will have to apply for and obtain a new Student Visa with permission to work attached as a condition of that visa. Students and dependants can only apply for a visa with work rights after they arrive in Australia and the student has begun studying. Work rights cannot be given with a student visa granted outside Australia.

If a student visa with work rights is granted, you will only be allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours a week while the Australian Education Provider you are studying with is in session. However, you can work for longer periods during your holidays. The money you earn from working in Australia should only supplement your income and not be used as your only source of income.

Illness/Special Circumstances

Only full-time study is available to International students and attendance records are kept. If a student experiences serious medical problems after commencement, which affects attendance, medical certificates or other evidence must be provided.

If attendance is affected by exceptional, compassionate circumstances (e.g. bereavement) the student must discuss this with Endeavour staff. Endeavour College is required to report unsatisfactory attendance.

How to apply for a visa Students intending to study must obtain a student visa from an Australian High Commission or Consulate in their home country before travelling to Australia.

There are a variety of available options for accommodation while studying in Australia. These include private hostels, shared housing and rentals.

Accommodation

Types of AccommodationTemporary Accommodation on Arrival

If required, temporary accommodation can be arranged for a period of one week. Please advise Endeavour College of your flight details at least 7 days before arrival. This will be hotel style accommodation at AU$100 AU$150 per night.

Homestay

Homestay involves the student living with an Australian family. The cost generally includes two meals (breakfast and dinner) during the week, and three meals on weekends. Rooms may be single or shared and costs will vary accordingly. Cost: approximately AU$240 AU$300 per week.

Private Hostels

Private hostel facilities include shared bathroom and kitchen so that students can prepare their own meals. For newcomers to the country, living in a hostel is a good way to meet other students in a comfortable study environment. Cost: AU$150 AU$200 per week.

Shared Accommodation

Advertisements on student noticeboards and in sections of the local newspapers advertise for one or more people to share a house or flat, often where a lease has already been taken out.

This often suits students once they have been in the country for some time and are comfortable with their new countrys living arrangements. Cost: AU$90 AU$150 per week.

Rental Accommodation

As with share accommodation, units, flats, single bedsitters and even houses are available through real estate agents. These are usually unfurnished. One months rent in advance is usually charged plus a bond (or security deposit) prior to signing a lease agreement. Cost: AU$200 AU$300 per week.

Cost of LivingBefore lodging your application you should consider whether you have enough money to set up house in Australia as well as pay for your airfares (including return), course tuition fees, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and all general expenses during your stay in Australia.

As a general guide, your accommodation, food, transport, clothes and expenses will cost you around AU$18,000 as advised by DIAC, depending on your lifestyle and where in Australia you study.

If accompanied by family members you will also need enough money to cover their expenses. School aged dependants of international students must enrol in either a government or non government school, which may involve the payment of school fees. You should be aware that these amounts are only an indication of everyday expenses and do not include airfares, health insurance or the cost of your course.

Airport on Arrival ServiceIf required, Endeavour College can organise an airport transfer to your accommodation. Please advise Endeavour College staff of your flight details at least 7 days before arrival. The cost of this service is AU$150.

CurrencyAustralian currency is decimal with the dollar ($) as the basic unit (100 cents = 1 dollar). The bank notes which are plastic and not paper, are $5 (purple), $10 (blue), $20 (red), $50 (yellow), and $100 (green). Coins are silver-coloured for 5,10,20 and 50 cents and gold-coloured for $1 and $2. Please refer to www.immi.gov.au for more information.

Student ServicesOrientation

Prior to commencing study, you will be invited to attend an orientation session which will provide information to assist you to settle into your study program at Endeavour College. It will acquaint you with college services such as study skills sessions and tutorials, which will assist you to understand the medical language used in the health science subjects.

Counselling service 24hrs / 7 day a week

Students may access Endeavours Student Assistance Program (SAP). The SAP provides students with support for dealing with life issues which may impact upon wellbeing and ability to study. Endeavour SAP is confidential and advocates an early intervention model through self-referral or referral by an Endeavour representative.

Admission requirementsStudents must be 18 years or older.

Entry to Bachelor Degree

Entry to Diploma and Certificate IV

English Language RequirementsIf your first language is not English you must demonstrate that you meet one of these alternative English language requirements:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score for Degree courses of 550 (paper based test) or 213 (computer based test) or 79 (internet based test) and for Diploma and Certificate IV courses of 525 (paper based test) or 196 (computer based test) or 65 (internet based test).

International English Language Test (IELTS) with a 6.0 minimum composite score for Degree courses and a minimum composite score of 5.5 for Diploma and Certificate IV courses. Valid for two years only. Only the Academic Test is accepted.

Pearson Test of English (PTE) with a minimum score of 50 for degree courses (no band less than 42) and a minimum score of 42 for Certificate IV and diploma courses (no band less than 36). Only Acedemic Test is accepted.

Where to from here? Step One Application Form

Fill in the International Student Application Form (included with this Prospectus). Provide certified copies of all required documents. Remember to go through the application checklist to see that you have provided all the relevant information.

Step Two Letter of Offer

If your application satisfies our course entry requirements, you will receive a letter of offer.

Step Three Confirmation of Enrolment

Once we have seen your original documents and verified your payment of fees stated in the letter of offer, we will provide you with an electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCOE) after which you can apply for a student visa. When your student visa application has been approved you will be eligible to come to Australia and begin your course of study.

Step Four Arrive in Australia and prepare to begin your Course

If you need help with accommodation, or airport pickup, contact us and we will be able to provide you with information about accommodation options and help to organise airport pickup. Arrangement of airport pickup and accommodation will incur a fee charge.

Credit, RPL and Mutual RecognitionEndeavour College of Natural Health may offer credit for subjects recently studied in formal education, recognition of prior learning for previous formal training, and/or work/life experience, and mutual recognition for competencies achieved at other Registered Training Organisations.
