IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: Household vacuums and shop type vacuums ARE NOT suitable for ash removal. Most home vacuums, includingcentral vacuum systems, are not made of fire-resistant materials, nor are the filters made to retain the extra fine particles found in ash. An emberhidden in seemingly cold ash could cause a fire. Stove and fireplace manufacturers prohibit the use of household vacuums to clean up ash.
