    Telephone Interviews Tips

    Preparing for your Telephone Interview

    Keep your application form in case you need to refer back to itduring the interview.

    Do keep a glass of water handy, in case you get a dry throat.

    Turn call-waiting off so your call isn't interrupted.

    Make sure that you are in a quiet room free from interruption.

    Unless you're sure your mobile phone service is going to be perfect,consider using a landline rather than your mobile phone.

    Telephone Interviews Tips

    During the Interview:

    Smile. Smiling will project a positive image to the listener and will changeyour tone of voice.

    Just because you cant read the interviewers body language dont assumethat its not going well.

    Speak slowly and enunciate clearly.

    Do not be afraid of silence. Your interviewer will be making notes.

    Take your time. It's perfectly acceptable to take a moment to collect yourthoughts.

    Dont be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat the question if you didntunderstand.

    Be concise, do not provide long winded answers as this may detract fromyour main points

    Dont give one word answers. This is your opportunity to sell yourself.13
