ETHICAL DILEMMA
• To lodge complaint or not?• Take fine or not?• If yes, this could affect the relationship with
the country.
10
RECOMMENDATION
• Should make private committee for issues like Vandalization or boisterous behavior.
• Should charge/fine them heavily.• Or ban for one or two years.
11
Organization Failure
• India showed their immaturity to host such world class.
• Ticket sales were poorly managed.• Lack of planning.• A moral reasoning can be applied to tackle the
issue.• A proper planning committee should be
formed to avoid such circumstances in future.
12
Corruption:
• The Central Vigilance Commission found discrepancies up to 8000 crores.
• The foot-over bridge collapsed 12 days before the commencement of CWG 2010 .
• The personnel’s took advantage of peoples’ faith.• Oracle of Omaha where Warren Buffet’s Front-Page-of-
the-Newspaper Test can be applied to resolve such a dilemma.
• Certain disciplinary committee would follow up the activities on a periodic basis and a report should be made transparent and publicly available.

Was Conducting commonwealth games ethical for India ?
• Still trapped in poverty, corruption and differentiation in society.
• Yiannis Mostrous asserted“Although India has never exhibited the same growth
characteristics as the rest of Asia and can’t match China‘s reported growth rates, it has largely avoided
the boom-and-bust cycles that afflict the region’s developing economies”
16
Indian Olympic Association could have toed on these lines to benefit Indian sports:
• Having a Comprehensive National Sports Policy• Providing Funds to State Associations of various
bodies• Upgrading infrastructures in collaboration with
Sports Authority of India (SAI)• Form a committee to spot talents at the grass
root level – in all sports• Provide quality coaching etc.,
17
Recommendation for avoiding recurrence of the issue:
• Making a decision with the societal approval.• Understanding the issue properly and act
accordingly.• Defining the exact accounts and bills of the
procurement.• Maintenance of quality and records for the
procured products.• Requirement assessment in order to eliminate
the waste or lacking of equipment.
18
Other Ethical Issues
Social impact• Common Wealth Games (CWG) in October 2010 was
came under severe criticism from social workers, civil society and intellectuals.
• The charge was that to create a glittery image of Delhi for CWG, poor and marginalized sections of the society were thrown out of Delhi.
• In the name of beautifying Delhi, the government threw street vendors, beggars, rickshaw pullers, and poor out of the city.
19
Ethical issueHow government could trash the poorer section of Delhi In the name of beautification? These sections of society provide service to the citizen of Delhi.
Ethical theories involvedDelhi government was lacked in Moral Reasoning, as they played a double standardRecommendation for resolving the dilemmaHere, Delhi government threw poorer section such as rickshaw puller, beggars and other poor people around the vicinity to involve them in development and growth.
20
Labor laws violations• 70 cases where workers had died in accidents at
construction sites.• Violations of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.Ethical issue• How the government could overlook the fact of
injustice towards the labor as they being deprived of minimum wages and good working condition?
21
Recommendation for resolving the dilemmaThis dilemma could be resolve using “Laura Nash Model”. The Ninth question says that “Are you confident that your decision will be justified over a long period of time now?”Recommendation for avoiding reoccurrence of the issue• The Authority must think twice, is this good for
their image and country image? They should also apply “Moral Reasoning” while getting down to such things.
22
Urban change• The 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, a
case in point, was being employed to invigorate an elite-driven program of urban transformation
Ethical issue• Is this was needed to transform Delhi for mere
show off, where an average Indian is deprived of daily needs?
23
Ethical theories involved• Utilitarian would appropriate to explain this
issue as the urbanization would be boosts the economy of whole New Delhi.
Recommendation for avoiding reoccurrence of the issue• Government must think of growth and progress
of country in long run. They should work for securing the future of coming generations.
