Here’s some ideas to get you started:

Educational Outreach

Beginner Program

This entertaining educational presentation introduces children to the exciting world of Paint Horses and invites them to get involved with our association and its activities. Use this program to introduce young children to the breed and discuss opportunities for them to interact with Paint Horses and Association members in your area.

The beginner script and the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation can be downloaded at: http://www.apha.com/community/beginners.html.

Intermediate Program

The next step for youth who are already actively involved with horses and equine competition is an introduction to the programs and rewards offered through the American Paint Horse Association.

APHA’s Intermediate presentation is a great tool when speaking to young people at local 4-H, FFA, and Pony Clubs. The presentation is designed to familiarize this group of young equine enthusiasts with ways to become active within APHA. This presentation provides more in-depth information for a horse-knowledgeable audience.

The intermediate script and the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation can be downloaded at http://www.apha.com/community/intermediate.html.

APHA has developed an educational outreach program for youth interested in learning more about horses. These PowerPoint presentations can be downloaded and used when you present AjPHA/APHA to schoolchildren, 4-H clubs, Pony Club members, etc.

AjPHA Suggestions

As a member of the AjPHA Executive Committee, you will be representing AjPHA at the grass-roots level. You may come across members who have great ideas, suggestions, or concerns about the youth program.

You may have these members fill out this sheet, or you may fill it out on their behalf. If you prefer, you can always contact Shelly at (817) 834-2742, extension 436 or [email protected].

Remember, it is not your responsibility to hear grievances about judges, exhibitors, APHA approved shows, and other members. Please pass along the APHA phone number to these individuals so they can make their complaint to the appropriate staff member.
