Please note that the items listed here are a summary of the major changes to this year’s Michigan DECA Guide. Several other areas that are not listed here have been updated and clarified. Please read the entire Guide for complete information. 1. The Detroit Westin Book Cadillac will serve as the hotel for the State Leadership Conference . 2. Michigan DECA is encouraging chapters to talk to their administrators about using Perkins or Added Cost Funds to pay for the online testing component of the District Conferences. See page 31 for more information. 3. The State Conference will be held in Grand Rapids this year - with it comes come changes to the housing process and conference schedule. Please take a few minutes to review pages 38-45. 4. Consider attending the MME Conference on October 28 & 29, 2010 to learn more about the competitive event changes. Visit www.michmkted.org for registration forms. 5. A new Marketing Communications Team Decision Making Event (MCTDM) has been added. 6. The Technical Sales Event has been renamed to the Professional Selling Event (PSE). 7. The Leadership & Teamwork event's Comprehensive Exam has changed. Participants will now take the Business & Marketing Core Exam online for the State Conference, and the Marketing Cluster Exam at the International Conference. 8. There are new procedures for electing State Officers. The candidates that are in the top eight for the number of votes received will be elected as State Officers. They will then vote amongst themselves for the office each officer will hold. 9. The number of voting delegates per school is now 1 vote for every 40 (or major faction there of) members. 10. A third Leadership Academy is now being offered at the International Conference. The Chapter Management Academy is for sophomores and juniors that are interested in being an officer next year. It is also ideal for members that will be chairing your Chapter Award Program. 11. Leadership Academy allocations will be prioritized for members from chapters that have received one of the membership recognition levels. 12. 1. The Detroit Westin Book Cadillac will serve as the hotel for the State Leadership Conference .
