Charlotte is 10-9 all-time in postseason play and 10-7 all-time in the WNIT. For the third straight season an Atlantic 10 record eight teams earned postseason tournament bids with Xavier, Temple and Dayton making the NCAATournament. While, Charlotte, Duquesne, Richmond, St. Bonaven- ture and Saint Joseph’s earned WNIT bids. Charlotte had a 7-8 record against teams playing in the NCAA Tournament and the WNIT this season. The 49ers had a 5-4 record against teams in the WNIT this season. For the second consecutive year, the 49ers advanced to the second round of the WNIT after a 62-56 win over Liberty. For the first time in school history, the 49ers have advanced to the semifinals of the WNIT with a 79-74 win at Virginia. Wins In A Season - The 49ers have won 27 games which is a school-record for wins in a season. The previous school record for wins in a season was 24 which was set in 1989-90. Charlotte reached the 20-win plateau for the 12th time in school history. 100 Assists Season - Kendria Holmes recorded seven assists at La Salle (February 16) to go over the 100 assists mark which marked the first time she has accomplished that feat as a Niner and the third time in her collegiate career. She has 146 assists which is the third highest single-season total in school history. Shannon McCallum (107 assists) and Epiphany Woodson (106 assists) both went over the century mark in assists against Florida. For the first time in school history the 49ers have three players with 100 assists in a season in the same year. With Holmes, McCallum and Woodson going over the 100 assists mark this season, Charlotte has now had 17 players in school history to record 100 assists in a season. 1,517 Career Points - Against Virginia, Shannon McCallum became the fourth player in school history to score 1,500 career points. She currently has scored 1,517 career points. She just moved past Sakellie Daniels (2002-06) and Tonya Phifer (1998-01) into fourth place on the 49ers all-time scoring list. Of the 18 players in school history that have scored 1,000 career points, eight of them have played for the 49ers since the turn of the century. 49ers At Home In The WNIT - The Charlotte-Florida WNIT game was the seventh WNIT game played in Halton Arena.   • KarenAstonisinherfourthseasonatthehelmofthe49erswomen’sbasketballprogram.Shejustmovedintothirdplace on the school’s all-time wins list with 86 wins. In her first season at Charlotte, she guided the 49ers to 18 wins and a berth in the WNIT. Out of the 30 rookie head coaches in Division I in 2009, she was one of only five to lead their

    teamtopostseasonplay.InhersecondseasonatCharlotte,shehelpedthe49erscapturethe2009A-10Tournamenttitle,whichistheprogram’sfirst conference tournament title. The 49ers reached the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history while winning 23 games in 2008-09. In her third season, she guided the 49ers to the A-10 Tournament semifinals and the second-round of the WNIT. This season, she has guided the 49ers to a school-record 27 wins and the program’s first-ever berth in the WNIT semifinals. Astonbecametheseventhheadcoachinthe34-yearhistoryoftheprogramonApril27,2007.ShecametoCharlotteafterspending13yearscoachingattheNCAADivisionIlevelinthestateofTexas. Shespentthe2006-07seasonasassociateheadcoachatBaylor.ShehelpedtheBearswin26gamesandreachthesecond-roundoftheNCAATournament. PriortojoiningtheBaylorcoachingstaffin2006,shespenteightyearsasamemberofHallofFameCoachJodyConradt’sstaffattheUniversityofTexas(1998-2006).ShewasassociateheadcoachherlastsixseasonsinAustin.WhileatTexas,shewastheLonghorns’recruitingcoordinatorandonthecourtsheprimarilyworkedwiththedefenseandpostplayers. DuringhereightseasonsatTexas,theLonghornsposteda173-83recordandmadesevenNCAATournamentappearances,includingtwoappearancesintheSweet16andatriptotheFinalFourin2003.In2002-03,theLonghornscapturedtheBig12regularseasonandtournamenttitles, and finished ranked number four in the final Associated Press (AP) poll. In 2003-04, Texas shared the Big 12 regular season title and finished ranked number five in the final AP poll. DuringhertimeasTexas’recruitingcoordinator,Astonplayedavitalroleinsigning25nationallyrecognizedrecruits.Alleightofthere-cruiting classes that she helped attract, were nationally ranked. Her final recruiting class (2005-06) at Texas was ranked number one in the nation bytheAll-Star Girls Report.InherlastfouryearsatTexas,sheplayedanintegralroleinsigningsevenMcDonald’sAll-AmericansandsevenWBCA/NikeAll-Americans.TwoofthosehighschoolAll-Americans(TiffanyJacksonandErikaArriaran)werenamedNationalHighSchoolPlayersoftheYear.JacksonwentontoearnconsensusnationalFreshmanoftheYearhonorsin2003-04. BeforejoiningtheTexascoachingstaff,shespenttwoseasonsasanassistantwomen’sbasketballcoachattheUniversityofNorthTexas(1996-98)andtwoseasonsasanassistantatBaylor(1994-96). Beforeenteringthecollegiatecoachingranks,Astonwasrecognizedasoneofthetophighschoolwomen’scoachesinthesouth.Shecoachedfive years at Vilonia High School (1988-93) in Vilonia, Arkansas and one year at Fort Smith Northside (1993-94) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1993-94 season, she guided Fort Smith Northside to a 24-10 record and a fifth-place finish in Class AAAA. For her efforts that season, she was named theArkansasNorthwestRegionCoachoftheYear. WhileatVilonia,Astonwasnotonlyheadbasketballcoachbutalsoheadcrosscountryandtrackcoach.In1992-93,shewasnamedtheArkansasBasketballCoachoftheYearafterleadingViloniatoa36-1recordandaClassAAStateChampionship.SheguidedtheViloniacrosscountryteamstostatetitlesin1991and1992. Aston is a 1987 graduate of the University ofArkansas Little-Rock, where she received her bachelor’s degree in physi-cal education. She played two seasons of standout basketball atArkansas Little-Rock after transferring from Ouachita Baptist. A native of Benton, Arkansas, Aston was a two-time, first-team All-State selection at Bryant High School. She topped off her high school careerbyleadingBryanttoboththe1982ArkansasStateChampionship(Class4A)andthe1982ArkansasoverallStatetitle.
