RICKWOOD FIELDTO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS
2010On August 18, 1910, Rickwood Field opened to an over-flow crowd and much fan fair, as the home team Barons defeated rival Montgomery, 3-2. In the following decades,
Rickwood Field hosted the play of baseball’s greats, and established firmly its place in American culture. In 2010, in a year-long series of special events, the Friends of Rickwood and the Birmingham baseball community will celebrate Rickwood’s 100th anniversary.
