2. Analysis on Oversea Exhibitors Under the circumstances of economy crisis, CIIF 2009 not only conquered various difficulties, but also won

opportunities. The show area, the number of exhibitor, and the quality of the fair reached a higher level. Of the total show area, the overseas exhibitors shared over 30%. 1596 booths were occupied by 494 overseas exhibitors from 18 countries/regions, including USA, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Czech, Korea, Singapore, Denmark, Australia, etc.

2.1 The comparison of exhibitor no. and standard booth no. of the last three years

Chart 4 indicated the No. of overseas exhibitor and booth, which shows the upgrading attention of abroad manufacturing corporations to CIIF. The annually increasing rate of the Number of overseas exhibitor: is 25.5% for 2007-2008 and 4.4% for 2008-2009. The annually increasing rate of the average area of overseas booth is 8.5% for 2007-2008 and 4% for 2008-2009. The two raising rate is higher than that of CIIF average level. Economic crisis seriously attacked these companies, and the marketing budget of them plunged, but more abroad exhibitors attended CIIF, which shows their more attraction on domestic market and the upgrading internationalization of CIIF on the other hand.

ones from Europe shared almost 30%.

The top two exhibitor sources are both

from the manufacturing developed

region, for example, Japan from Asia

ranked 1 and Germany from Europe

ranked 2, respectively. On the other

hand, American corporations also took

a part of nearly 10% (9.94% exactly).

3. Analysis on Domestic Exhibitor

There are 1375 Chinese exhibitors (Shanghai excluded) coming from 25 provinces /autonomous regions and

5 cities with independent planning occupied 3706 booths in CIIF 2009. The No. of exhibitor and booth increased

2.4% and 6.5% respectively, based on 2008 data. 436 local exhibitors occupied 1559 booths, shared 23.3% and

29.4% respectively of total. 939 domestic exhibitors (Shanghai excluded) occupied 2147 booths, accounted

50.3% and 40.5% respectively of total.

Please refer Chart for domestic exhibitor data

Chart 7

The chart shows us that the No.

of domestic exhibitor kept stable in

the last three years, while the total

standard booth no. raised much, 12%

for 2008 and 6.5% for 2009. It can

be inferred that the show area per

booth quickly increased, which

means the CIIF earn more input from

exhibitors to give a higher quality of

display.

Awards As one major activity, four kinds of exhibit awards of CIIF 2009 were

selected, which were gold, silver, copper and innovation awards. Totally 39

exhibits shared these awards, 4 for gold, 9 for silver, 14 for copper and 12 for

innovation. 3MW Offshore Wind Turbine from Sinovel Wind Co., Ltd., 450t

Electric Slag Remelting from Shanghai Heavy Machinery Plant Co. Ltd., Force

Control based robotic assembly application product from ABB Engineering Co.

Ltd. SH, and Mega-structure Diagnostic and Prognostic System from The Hong

Kong Polytechnic University won the gold award. These exhibits reflected the

national strategies, approved the “golden 10 years” of China Manufacturing, and

show the application of Hi-tech face to the future. Awarded exhibits not only were upgraded from “made in China” to ‘innovated in

China’, but also show the

world class level of modern

industry and the

achievements of China

advanced manufacturing. As

a service platform for

manufacturers and clients,

the award system of CIIF will

provide more opportunities for
