ceo & chair letter

Dear Friends:

During fiscal year 2009, the American Liver Foundation®

experienced unprecedented growth in our mission to give a

broader cross section of the population a better

understanding of liver health. In fact, the number of people

reached through our education programs quadrupled.

The American Liver Foundation developed and

implemented core programs across the country to provide

more people with tools to manage their disease more effectively. In addition, the American Liver

Foundation’s 2009 signature events, led by the Liver Life Walk®, achieved a significant increase in

revenue. We also developed the Liver Life Challenge initiative that will culminate with the Disney Marathon

in 2011. To help broaden our sphere of influence, we acquired Liver Health Today magazine, giving

subscribers the opportunity for membership in our organization.

This annual report highlights the American Liver Foundation’s 2009 efforts and accomplishments aimed

at creating a Spectacular Tomorrow for our stakeholders. Continuing to find opportunity in challenge

inspires the American Liver Foundation staff, volunteers, and members to renew our commitment to lead,

inform, and support a vision of tomorrow that is free of liver disease.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the American Liver Foundation as we face new challenges and

continue to build toward a Spectacular Tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Rick Smith Allan W. Wolkoff, MD

President and Chief Executive Officer Chair, Board of Directors
