System of Missouri in 2008. The information contained in this publication is a summary of t

provided to the Missouri Department of Transportation. This publication is possible

In this section, crashes are grouped according to the population characteristics of their location.

categories are used: rural, urban (population 5,000 to 49,999), urbanized (population 50,000 to 1

metropolitan (population 200,000 or greater).

Currently, all metropolitan crashes have been included in the urbanized grouping.

 Out of Control crashes accounted for 49.4% of the fatal crashes for 2008. These crashes represented 27.2% of the

end crashes accounted for the majority of the total crashes at 33.3%
