Individual Roles During Arrival Services

• Drivers

• Transportation Greeters

• Hotel Greeters

• Uconnect Training Assistants

DriversAM Drivers• 2 drivers at hotel by 8:15 to load vans with new students• 1 driver by 8:45 to load cargo van for move outs• Typically 1 driver will stay with Elaine, 2 drivers for move outs• Return keys to hotel front desk• Wear comfortable shoes

PM Drivers• Pick up vans at Radisson by 3:30• Be at Rolo by 4:00 for shopping• Take students to Walmart on Post Road and Shaws on

Warwick Ave.• Make sure you know who is on your van and the addresses

where you will drop off them off• Be firm when giving times that the van leaves• Return keys to front desk, park vans in back lot at Radisson

Transportation Greeters

• Accompany JWU Transportation to bus station and train station to meet new students, accompany them on the ride to the Radisson

• Meet new students at the airport, and take them to the Radisson in the shuttle if possible

• Answer questions and give students information

• Welcome new students with a smile – make them feel comfortable at the beginning of their time in Providence!

Hotel Greeters• Be at the Radisson every day from 4:00 –

7:00pm

• Answer any questions students have about arrival services

• Give out welcome packets and other information

• Help students check in

• Help students use phone cards

• Know your limitations – call a JWU staff member if there is a problem!

Office Assistants• Make new students feel at home

• Help students fill out paperwork

• Set up Utilities

• Walk students to necessary locations

• Be ready for anything

Campus Tour Guides

• Make students feel at home

• Walk students around the entire campus

• Explain to students which offices and facilities are in each building

• Give students time to ask questions

Uconnect Training Assistants

• Assist Uconnect presenters with whatever they might need

• Be there to answer questions new international students have about Uconnect

• Actively move around the room so you can assist students

Sample Day of Arrival Services• Pick up students from airports, train and bus

stations

• Check in at Radisson and get information about arrival services week

• Come to International Office to fill out paperwork & open bank accounts

• Meet with Elaine to arrange housing

• Campus tours

• Go on shopping trips for housing and personal essentials
