2008 Cornell Big Red Volleyball
Deitre Collins-Parker, a two-time national collegiate player of the year, has led the Big Red
to three Ivy League titles and two NCAA tournament appearances in just four years. She was
named the eighth head volleyball coach at Cornell on June 1, 2004 by The Meakem•Smith Di-
rector of Athletics and Physical Education Andy Noel. Collins-Parker is Cornell’s second Wendy
Schaenen ’79 Head Coach of Volleyball since the position was endowed in March 2002.
Cornell’s high-# ying ways have led to great success in four years under Collins-Parker, as
her teams have posted the top three season marks in kills and assists per game. Last season
Collins-Parker helped the Big Red to begin rebuilding after losing 10 starters from the 2005
and 2006 teams. Under her mentorship, sophomore Megan Mushovic earned her inaugural
$ rst-team All-Ivy honor and led the nation in digs in a match with a school-record 50 against
Harvard. Junior Emily Borman joined Mushovic on the All-Ivy team, earning second-team hon-
ors.
Her 2006 squad tops the record books in block assists and was second in attacking per-
centage. Collins-Parker led Cornell to its second NCAA tournament appearance in her tenure,
narrowly dropping a 3-2 contest to Hofstra in the $ rst round. The Big Red won its third-straight
Ivy title with a 12-2 Ancient Eight record and was 18-9 overall. Elizabeth Bishop ‘07 earned her
second-straight Ivy League Player of the Year honor and was honorable mention All-America.
Joanna Weiss ‘07 joined her on the $ rst-team All-Ivy squad, while freshman libero Megan
Mushovic earned second-team honors.
Collins-Parker directed Cornell to one of its greatest seasons in its storied volleyball history
in 2005, going 19-6 and winning the Ivy title outright with a 12-2 mark. The Big Red earned
its second NCAA tournament appearance in the program’s history, dropping a 3-0 decision
to Northeast Conference champion Long Island. Bishop earned Ivy League Player of the Year
honors after setting the school record for career kills, while Weiss developed into a $ rst-team
all-league selection.
In her $ rst season at the helm, the Big Red $ nished with an overall record of 17-9 and a 10-
4 mark in Ivy League play. That record was good for a four-way tie for the league title, Cornell’s
$ rst since 1995. The team fell just two points short in game $ ve of the Ivy League playo" $ nal
which determined the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. Along the way, the
Big Red set numerous team and individual records. The nine straight matches won between
Sept. 17 and Oct. 18 are tied for the second-longest streak since the NCAA went to the best-of-
$ ve game format in 1989. Hidden
within that run is the school’s lon-
gest string of consecutive games
won (22) over that same span.
Collins-Parker spent the previ-
ous eight seasons as head coach at
the University of Nevada-Las Ve-
gas, earning Western Athletic Con-
ference Coach of the Year in 1998
after taking a dormant volleyball
program and leading the Lady
Rebels to a 23-8 record and a WAC
tournament semi$ nal appearance.
Prior to her stint at UNLV, Col-
lins-Parker served as an assistant
coach at South Alabama, Northern
Arizona and Houston for one year
each.
Collins-Parker has plenty of
international coaching experience
as well. She served as head coach
of the 1998 U.S. junior national

national quali$ er. She served in the same capac-
ity during the summer of 2000 (silver medal) and
2001 (bronze medal).
A former member of the U.S. national team
and a three-time AVCA All-American at the Uni-
versity of Hawaii, Collins-Parker was the start-
ing middle blocker for the 1988 Olympic Team
in Seoul, South Korea, and was an alternate for
the 1992 team in Barcelona, Spain. She played
in over 130 international matches and earned
bronze medals at the 1986 Goodwill Games and
the 1987 Pan-Am Games.
As a collegian, Collins-Parker was a two-time
Broderick Award honoree as the national player
of the year (1983, 1984) after leading the Rain-
bow Wahine to consecutive national titles and
a 110-5 record in her $ nal three seasons. Collins
capped o" her career as the Broderick Cup recipi-
ent, given to the nation’s best collegiate athlete
in all sports. She was twice named to the NCAA
all-tournament team and still holds the record
for solo blocks in one NCAA tournament (15 in
1982). She was one of six players named to the
NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball 25th Anni-
versary Team in October 2005.
Collins-Parker spent three years playing professionally in Europe before entering the coach-
ing ranks, playing one season for Conad Fano Volleyball Club in Italy (1988-89) and two years
for the French Champion Racing Club of France (1989-91).
A 1995 graduate of Hawaii with a bachelor of arts in broadcast communications, Col-
lins-Parker is a
member of the
USA Volleyball
Coaching Accredi-

and is a CAP
level III accredited
coach. She is also
a member of the
American Volley-

2008 Cornell Big Red Volleyball
Sarah Bernson returns for her $ fth season at Cornell after joining the Big Red volleyball sta" in July 2004. She spent the previous
three years as assistant coach at Cal State-Monterey Bay.
In her $ rst four seasons with the Big Red, Bernson has helped the program to three Ivy titles (2004, 2005, 2006) and two NCAA
tournament appearances (2005 and 2006). She has helped develop 13 All-Ivy performers over that span. Bernson is in charge of the
program’s recruiting and works with the outside hitters, including the Big Red’s all-time kills leader and $ rst volleyball All-American
in school history, Elizabeth Bishop ‘07.
She helped guide Monterey Bay to the school record for wins in a season in 2003, earning a league playo" bid and winning their
$ rst postseason game. She helped the Otters jump from ninth place in the league in her $ rst year to a third-place $ nish in 2002.
Bernson’s player development skills led to the program’s $ rst all-conference players in 2003.
In addition to assisting the Otter volleyball program, Bernson was the sports information, marketing, and promotional coordina-
tor for the athletic department. She also started and operated the Monterey Volleyball Club, a youth development program geared
to middle school and high school student-athletes. As club director, she incorporated Otter volleyball players as coaches for the
program.
Bernson played on the right side and outside at Saint Mary’s (Calif.) before a severe knee injury ended her collegiate career in
1998. She remained active as team captain as a senior before graduating in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in English and art.
During college, Bernson served as a coach for the Albuquerque Elite and Lamorinda Volleyball Clubs. For Albuquerque, she as-
sisted for two seasons for the 18-and-unders and helped them to regional titles along with wins at large tournaments such as the
Colorado Crossroads. While on the coaching sta" , she coached her sister, Nora, a former player under Deitre Collins at UNLV, and
former Ivy League Player of the Year and Cornell grad Robin Moore `00. At Lamorinda, she worked with 16-and-under athletes.
Bernson was an all-state honoree as a middle blocker for St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque before moving on to Saint
Mary’s.

leyball team. Gutor spent the previous $ ve seasons as the head coach for both the men’s and
women’s volleyball programs at Mount Olive College.
Gutor compiled a 79-56 record with his women’s team at Mount Olive, and led the Trojans
to the NCAA Division II volleyball championship in 2004 and 2005. His men’s team posted a
42-37 record under his leadership, including a 32-12 mark in his $ nal two seasons. In 2008, the
Trojans picked up their $ rst-ever wins over a Division I opponent when they defeated Harvard
twice.
In 2006, Gutor served as head coach of the Ukrainian Women’s Volleyball National team.
The Ukraine advanced to its $ rst European quali$ er, but lost in a playo" in a bid to reach the
2008 Olympics. In 2003, Gutor spent a season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Penn State
men’s varsity volleyball team.
Gutor spent two years with Texas Advantage Volleyball Club, in Dallas, Texas. He served as
the head volleyball coach for the club’s junior and women’s teams. Gutor led Texas Advantage
Volleyball to a bronze medal at the 2002 women’s USA National Championship.
Prior to living in Texas, Gutor gained extensive international experience coaching volleyball.
He served as head coach for the Ukrainian Junior National Volleyball team for 10 years, while
preparing over 25 players to move on to professional teams. Gutor was also at the helm of the
USSR Junior National Volleyball Team for three seasons, and was the head coach for the Petro-
chema Men’s Volleyball Team in the Slovakian Elite Professional League. He has also coached
elite teams in Hungary and the United Arab Emirates.

2008 Cornell Big Red Volleyball
2008 Big Red Season OutlookThe Big Red enters the 2008 season with a sense of renewed hope and determina-
tion as it continues its rebuilding process into a new era of Cornell volleyball. Head
coach Deitre Collins-Parker began the transition last season after losing 10 key start-
ers from the 2005 and 2006 squads that combined to win three Ivy League titles and
made two NCAA appearances. The Big Red returns senior setter Hilary Holland who will
strive to lead her
team on and
o" the court
in search of a
seventh Ancient
Eight title. Fel-
low seniors,
middle blocker
Emily Borman
and right side
hitter Kathryn
Woodbury, will
add valuable
leadership, ex-
perience and
determination
to the team. The
Big Red returns
three juniors
and four sopho-
mores, as well
as adding six
freshmen for the
2008 season.
Cornell opens
its campaign
with a trip west
for the Kansas
State tournament in Manhattan, Kan. The Big Red will face Liberty,
Kansas State and Northern Iowa. The Big Red continues tourna-
ment play heading to the UConn Toyota Classic the following week-
end, where it will face o" against Connecticut, Temple and Maine.
On Sept. 24, Cornell opens its home slate with a non-conference
match against Syracuse, before it will play host to a tri-match on
Saturday, Sept. 27, against Columbia and Robert Morris. The Big
Red’s match with the Lions also marks the opening of Ivy League
play. A week later, Cornell travels to New York City to play at Colum-
bia and will also compete at Long Island before continuing with its
Ancient Eight schedule. The Big Red will once again play all of its Ivy
opponents twice, and Cornell will face Colgate and Binghamton in
non-conference play during the season.
Setters
The Big Red returns senior captain Hilary Holland from the
2007 season. Holland split time at the setter position last season,
but she will be the probable starter after losing Amy Gordon to
graduation. Freshman Jordan Reeder will join Holland in assist-
ing the Big Red hitters.
Holland is prepared to step into a leadership position after
spending the summer on East Hill working hard to hone her skills
and will look to have a successful season. Cornell will look for Holland to lead by
example, and she is known as one of the hardest working and dedicated members of
the volleyball program. Last season, Holland notched a career-high 50 assists against
Harvard when she registered a triple double (10 kills, 10 digs).
Reeder is an athletic setter that will be available to back up Holland if needed. Her
experience hitting and passing will allow her the ability to jump in and assist
the Big Red in many areas of the game. Reeder will spend the season preparing
to be an important asset to Cornell in the future.
Middle Blockers
The Big Red returns second-team All-Ivy honoree senior Emily Borman
this season. She will be joined by juniors Juliana Rogers and Jessica Misse,
as well as sophomore Kelly Karmann. Also battling for playing time will be
freshmen Kelly Hansen and Madeleine Przybyl.
Borman had a breakout junior campaign in 2007, coming on especially
strong at the end of the season. She led Cornell in blocks with an average of
1.08, which was good for fourth in the Ivy League. Cornell will be looking for
Borman to step up into a leadership role as a dominant middle blocker and
continue where she left o" last season. She has the ability to score points for
the Big Red, as well as putting up a big block.
Rogers will play a dual role for Cornell as a middle blocker and as an outside
hitter. In her sophomore season, she played in all 25 matches, while $ nishing
second on the team in blocks by averaging 1.02 per game. Rogers broke all her
career highs last season and will look to further improve in 2008. The Big Red
will count on Rogers to continue to be a solid dependable player, while enhanc-
ing her versatility by contributing to a number of o" ensive plays.
Karmann was named the team’s most improved player last season after
having a solid spring. In her
sophomore campaign, she will
show her ability to be an o" en-
sive threat and a solid blocker.
Misse rejoins the Big Red this
season after missing the 2007
campaign. Heading into her ju-
nior season, she has stayed in
good physical condition and is
one of the most athletic mem-
bers of the team. Misse will look
to get back in stride and help im-
prove Cornell’s blocking numbers
at the net.
At 6-4, Hansen will bring much
needed height to the middle
blocker position for Cornell. She
heads to East Hill after complet-
ing an outstanding high school
volleyball and basketball career.
Hansen is competitive and vocal
and is expected to earn plenty of
playing time this season.
Przybyl is a versatile middle
blocker and is incredibly explo-
sive. She is an o" ensive threat
and brings many assets to the
court for the Big Red.

Outside Hitters
The Big Red’s returnees and newcomers will have the opportunity to battle for
playing time, and will allow Cornell’s lineup to take a variety of forms. Returning to
the right side is senior Kathryn Woodbury. The Big Red’s left side will be young,
but will be tested with early playing time. Sophomore Alessa Cekauskas and Erin
McCarthy will lead Cornell after solid
rookie seasons. The trio will be joined by
freshmen Meagan Tatum and Steph-
anie Selvius.
Woodbury brings the most game
experience to the outside hitting posi-
tion for Cornell. She has continually im-
proved her play each year and continues
to get stronger attacking while honing
her ability to be a threat at the net. This
left-handed hitter broke most of her
personal match highs last season and
will look to continue that run. She gives
Cornell the ability to run a diversi$ ed of-
fense, while being able to attack on the
right side of the court.
Cekauskas came on strong at the end
of her rookie campaign, and was a great
bene$ t on the court with her ability to
score points. Cekauskas used the spring
to improve her ball control and blocking,
and should be a leading outside hitter
this season.
McCarthy returns to the court for
Cornell after battling injury at the end
of the season. She played well in spring
competitions and is a dependable all-
around player. McCarthy enhances the
team’s o" ense with her passing ability.
Tatum will bring a winning spirit to the Big Red after enjoying considerable suc-
cess during her high school and club seasons. The tallest of all of the outside hitters
at 6-1, Tatum will compete for a starting spot. Cornell will hope to use her height to
increase blocking ability at the outside hitter position.
Selvius jumps high and hits hard, and has the abil-
ity to play on the left or right side. She will give the Big
Red a lot of options o" ensively.
Back Row
The Big Red returns $ rst team All-Ivy honoree Me-
gan Mushovic to the libero position, and she will be
joined by defensive specialists Kela Fitzgerald and
Risa Ka’awa.
Mushovic shattered Cornell’s record for digs in a
game last season notching, 50 against Harvard, which
also led the nation. She also broke the record for digs
in a season, and will look to break the program’s ca-
reer digs record during her junior campaign. Mushovic
spent the summer playing abroad and continues to
gain experience at the libero position. She also re-
turned to Ithaca early to continue training with the
strength and conditioning sta" .
Fitzgerald transitioned last spring from outside
hitting to a defensive specialist. Her quickness and
athleticism will contribute to strong defensive play
for Cornell.
Ka’awa is a small but dynamic athletic defensive
specialist, who will back up Mushovic at the libero
position. She adds depth to the back row and defense,
and will look to continue to improve.

2008 Cornell Big Red Volleyball
2007 Season Review— A Year of Rebuilding
After winning three-straight Ivy League titles,
head coach Deitre Collins-Parker began the re-
building process with a young squad in 2007.
The Big Red contested a di! cult non-conference
schedule, as well as a strong Ancient Eight slate, to
record a 9-16 overall record. Cornell $ nished $ fth
among the Ivy League with a 6-8 mark.
The Big Red opened its season by playing host
to the Cornell Invitational, and jumped out to a
good start with wins over Niagara and Bucknell.
Cornell lost only one game in those two matches.
Day two of the Invitational proved to be a tougher
battle, with the Big Red facing 2006 NCAA partici-
pant Siena. Middle blocker Emily Borman posted a
career best 17 kills, but the Saints slipped past Cor-
nell in four close games. The Big Red $ nished the
tournament with an exhibition loss to Montreal in
$ ve games. Borman’s stellar play throughout the
weekend resulted in all-tournament team honors.
The following weekend, Cornell traveled to
Washington, D.C., to compete in the American
tournament against Patriot League teams Ameri-
can, Army, Lafayette and Navy. The Big Red won
a hard-fought $ ve-game match against Navy in
the $ rst contest, but American edged out Cornell
in its second match of the day. Cornell wrapped up
its tournament schedule by falling to Lafayette and
Army in its $ nal matches of the weekend. Rookie
Erin McCarthy and fellow classmate Katie Marshall
led the Big Red’s o" ense throughout the tourna-
ment, with each outside hitter registering 52 kills
during the four games. Libero Megan Mushovic
was named to the all-tournament team after aver-
aging 4.31 digs per game during the weekend.
Before heading into Ivy League play, Cornell headed west to California to take on Saint
Mary’s and San Francisco. Cornell dropped both matches, but the Big Red was able to play in
front of alumni, family and friends and held a reception at the San Francisco match.
Cornell returned to the East coast to play at Columbia in the $ rst conference match of the
season. Led by McCarthy and Marshall with 16 and 15 kills, respectively, the Big Red defeated
the Lions, 3-1. Middle blocker Juliana Rogers notched 14 kills, while hitting .417 and added
six blocks and six digs. Right side hitter Kathryn Woodbury helped out the Cornell o" ense with
14 kills of her own with an impressive .480 hitting percentage.
Cornell continued on its extended road trip to face Penn and Princeton, and the two vet-
eran-laden teams played past the Big Red. Cornell was once again led o" ensively by freshmen
Marshall and McCarthy, who registered 23 and 16 kills, respectively, over the weekend. Cornell
concluded a grueling 10-match road swing with a non-conference matchup against in-state
rival Binghamton. The Big Red fell to the Bearcats, but a new face led Cornell o" ensively, with
freshman Alessa Cekauskas, registering 13 kills.
The Big Red $ nally returned home over homecoming weekend to face o" against Ivy
League foes Harvard and Dartmouth. Cornell took advantage of playing in front of a home
crowd, and battled back to notch a 3-2 win over the Crimson. Mushovic smashed the school
record for digs in a match when she totaled 50 in the $ ve games. Setter Hilary Holland
notched a triple-double, posting 10 kills, 10 digs and 50 assists. The Big Red continued its
winning ways on Saturday to hand Dartmouth its $ rst loss in Ivy League play. Rogers totaled
13 kills with seven blocks, while senior defensive specialist Kara Zaragoza served four aces
for the Big Red.
During homecoming weekend, the Big Red hosted “Passionately Pink for a Cure,” to sup-
port the Susan G. Koman for a Cure foundation. Cornell also raised its 2006 Ivy League champi-
onship banner with many alumni, family and friends in attendance. Alumni also participated
in many homecoming events, including a serving contest during the Harvard match.
The following week, Cornell hit the road yet again for a three-match road set against
Ivy rivals Yale and Brown, as well as a non-conference match against Syracuse. The teams
overcame the Big Red’s momentum to
hand Cornell three road losses.
The Big Red then returned home
for its $ nal homestand of the season.
Cornell once again faced the top two
teams in the Ivy League, Princeton and
Penn. The Tigers’ and Quakers’ experi-
ence was once again too much for the
Big Red.
Cornell rebounded the next week-
end to snap Yale’s six-match win streak,
picking up a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs.
The Big Red honored seniors Amy Gor-
don and Zaragoza before the start of
the game. In its $ nal home match of
the season, the Big Red quickly swept
Columbia, 3-0. Cekauskas totaled 16
kills, while hitting .414.
After losing a close match to Dart-
mouth, the Big Red $ nished its season
on a high note, defeating Harvard
3-2 in its last contest of the 2007 cam-
paign. Borman notched 18 kills, while
putting up nine blocks.
Two Big Red players were honored
on the All-Ivy teams, with Mushovic
being named $ rst-team, while Borman
received a second-team nod. Mushovic
averaged 6.16 digs per game on the
season, which was good for eighth in
the nation. With a total of 598 digs,
she broke Cornell’s record for digs in
a single season as well as the record
for digs per game. Her 50 digs against
Harvard led the country for digs in a match. Borman paced the Big Red in blocks per game
with 1.08, which also placed her fourth among the Ivy League. She was second on the team in
kills with 228, for an average of 2.38 kills per game. Borman was $ rst on the team with a .288
hitting percentage, good for sixth in the Ancient Eight.
Cornell concluded its year at its annual banquet in the Hall of Fame Room where it handed
out its team and Ivy awards. Mushovic was named the team’s MVP, freshman Kelly Karmann
was named most improved, while Rogers received the Pam Orsi ’85 award given to the player
who has shown the most integrity and spirit in lifting the Big Red on and o" the court. Gordon
and Holland also received awards for being named Academic All-Ivy.

2008 Cornell Big Red Volleyball
Cornell Volleyball: A Story of Success
Volleyball, which has been a varsity sport at Cornell for 37 years, is one of the
university’s most decorated women’s programs. Since hitting the hardwood in 1972,
the Big Red has posted a 676-399-7 record, with three Ivy League tournament titles,
seven $ rst-place $ nishes during the regular season, six New York state crowns and a
pair of Eastern championships. The Big Red made history in 1993 when it became the
$ rst Ivy League volleyball team to participate in the NCAA championship tournament
and returned in 2005 and 2006.
It all began when Sue Nattrass guided the Big Red to a 2-2 slate back in 1972. After
dropping the $ rst two matches, the spikers downed Colgate in $ ve games and swept
Eisenhower College in three. Debbie Nelson took over the program the following year,
as the Big Red went 7-5 and placed sixth at the New York state tournament.
Andrea Dutcher took over in 1974 and coached for 14 years, with the Big Red posting
346 victories against only 158 losses with seven ties. In just her third season, Dutcher
guided the spikers to a 24-11 season and second-place $ nishes at the
New York state, EAIAW and Ivy League tournaments. In 1981, Cornell
posted a school record 47 wins with only six losses. The following
year, Dutcher led the squad to its $ rst of four straight New York state
tournament championships, while posting a 40-8 campaign. That
team also won its $ rst EAIAW championship. The 1983 team went 41-
4 to conclude a string of three straight 40-win campaigns. Dutcher
led her squad to two more New York state titles before ushering in
Ivy League play in 1986 — the $ rst year for round robin competition
in the league.
In 1988, Jolene Nagel was hired to replace Dutcher, who retired
from the coaching ranks, and led the Big Red
to a 25-9 campaign and a New York state title.
The following year, Cornell went 25-8 on the
year, won its second consecutive New York
state crown and went 7-0 against Ivy competi-
tion. In Nagel’s $ nal year, the Big Red won its
$ rst Ivy League championship and quali$ ed for
the National Invitational Volleyball Champion-
ships. Nagel $ nished her Cornell career with an
85-40 slate.
In 1992, Merja Connolly took over the pro-
gram and guided the Red to consecutive Ivy
League championships. Her 1992 squad went
19-11 and participated in the NIVC, while the
1993 team went 17-10 and earned a berth to
the NCAA championships, losing to Nebraska in
the $ rst round.
Sue Medley took over the reins in 1994 and guided the squad to a 20-10 mark
— its $ rst 20-win campaign since 1989 — and a $ rst-place $ nish in the Ivy regular
season in just her second year. Medley ended her tenure during the 1998 season and
was replaced by Christie Roes.
Roes guided the Big Red to a runner-up $ nish in the 2000 Ivy League tourna-
ment, helped develop 2000 Ivy League Player of the Year Robin Moore and directed

15 All-Ivy League players. She became the third-winningest coach in school history
and recorded a pair of 20-win campaigns in her $ ve full seasons with a league regular
season runner-up $ nish in 2003. That team won 14 straight matches en route to a
21-4 record.
Deitre Collins-Parker, one of the greatest players in NCAA history as a middle block-
er at Hawaii, became the program’s eighth head coach in June, 2004, and wasted no
time in adding her name to the list of coaches who have guided successful squads on
the East Hill. She has already led Cornell to at least a share of the Ivy League title in
each of her $ rst three seasons and guided the Big Red to two NCAA tournaments.
The 2004 team $ nished 17-9 overall and 10-4 in Ivy play, $ nishing in a four-way tie
for the league championship. It marked the $ rst time since 1993 that Cornell earned
at least a share of the crown. A four-team playo" was held to determine which school
would represent the Ivy League in the NCAA tournament, and the Big Red fought Yale
for every point in a 3-2 loss.
The Big Red went a step further in 2005, advancing to the NCAA tournament after
securing the outright Ivy title with a 19-6 overall record and a 12-2 Ancient Eight
mark. Two of the school’s major career records also fell during the year, as Ivy League
Player of the year Elizabeth Bishop set the kills record, while Kelly Kramer claimed the
digs mark.
The 2006 squad made its second-straight NCAA tournament appearance after
winning the Ivy title the third year in a row. Going 18-9 for the season, the Big Red
went 12-2 among league opponents. Bishop was named the Ivy League player of the
year for the second year in a row, and Joanna Weiss joined her, claiming $ rst-team
honors. Freshman libero Megan Mushovic also had a standout year earning a spot on
the second team.
The Big Red began a rebuilding year in 2007, and posted a 9-16 overall record with
a $ fth-place Ivy $ nish. Mushovic earned $ rst-team All-Ivy honors and led the nation
in digs in a match with a school-record 50 against Harvard. The sophomore also broke
school records for digs per game (6.16) and digs in a season (598). Junior Emily Bor-
man joined Mushovic on the All-Ivy team, earning second-team honors.
Collins-Parker returns $ ve starters and eight letter winners from the 2007 squad.
The Big Red will look to continue writing the current chapter in the program’s ever-
growing success story.

Women’s Volleyball
Rule Changes
Terminology
The term “game” will be changed to
“set.” A match still consists of the best
three out of $ ve sets.
Points Require to Win a Set
Instead of 30 points, the number of
points to win sets one through four
is now 25 (and a two-point lead).
Fifteen points (and a two-point lead)
is still the requirement to win the $ fth
(deciding) set.
Substitutions
Each team is now allowed a maxi-
mum of 12 substitutions per set.
Coaches Position
When the ball is in play, coaches will
be asked to stay at least 1.75 meters
from the court’s sideline. An imagi-
nary line perpendicular to the outside
edge of the extended attack line indi-
cates this distance. If a coach doesn’t
comply, the referees may assess the
team delay sanction.
