The Witte company was founded in 1938, with a focus on producing vibratory process equipment such as screeners and conveyors for a broad spectrum of applications. Not long after, Witte found a niche market for it’s equipment in plastic pellet processing. Witte began manufacturing equipment to cool, dry and classify plastic pellets and has been doing so ever since. The 200 series classifier is our workhorse classi‐fier that is used for removal of “fines” and “oversize” from correct size plastic pellets. These classifiers use a very proven design that has evolved over the years and are used by a majority of plastics producers worldwide. Un‐equaled ease of access, efficient screening action and ultra reliability are features that Witte customers have come to expect in the 200 series. The 200 series comes in a wide variety of width’s

and length’s to best match the capacity and the material being classified. As always, Witte equipment can be customized to satisfy unique requirements.

Witte specially builds their own line of eccentric weight Vibrators which provide the necessary force for linear motion vibration which is used on all 200 series classifiers. These vibra‐tors are built almost entirely in house to meet stringent quality and performance objectives. Oversized bearings are splash lu‐bricated and offer exceptionally long service life. Maintenance is limited to periodic oil changes.

The 200 series Plastic Pellet Classifiers uses a linear motion vibratory drive that is built to de‐liver the optimal movement to the pellets for effi‐cient screening operation. The bidirectional accel‐erations that are produced with this type of drive combined with the correct angle of vibration pro‐duce results that are superior to gyratory or other types of drives.

Rather than subjecting the electric motor to potentially damag‐

ing vibrating forces, the standard AC motor is foot mounted to

the stationary machine base. Maintenance is limited to periodic

drive belt changes. The vibrating section is suspended with

steel leaf springs, which are long lasting and transmit minimal

reaction forces to the machine base.

Linear vibration at an angle that includes a small vertical

component allows optimal sifting of material through the

screen.


Standard Configuration

Witte designs the 200 series classi‐fier in different width’s and length’s to most effectively meet a given feed rate ca‐pacity. Standard units are made as small as 6 inches wide and as large as 6 feet wide. Discharge chute locations can be changed to meet your needs. All product contact points are manufactured from S/S T‐304 for long life. Witte is always willing to work with it’s customers to come up with custom solutions for challenging situations.

A standard configuration shows the product inlet chute, product spreading baffle, fines screen and perforated over's screen. Reject discharges are off to the side with the product discharging out the middle.

One of the most appealing features of the Witte design is the easy to access screen decks. In most cases, screen decks are in series, rather than a stacked relationship, allowing the operator full visual and physical access. Screen decks are re‐moved from the top by simply loos‐ening the swivel C‐20 clamps and lifting it out from above. Fines Screen Deck – The fines screen deck is used to remove small chips or particles substantially smaller than the product. This deck is most often a wire mesh screen, but more and more users are using an optional Witte perforated fines deck with 3/32” diameter holes (or smaller) in place of the mesh. This perforated fines deck is much easier to clean and allows for more uptime. Overs Screen Deck – The overs screen deck is used to remove long pellets or two pellets that are stuck together. This deck is almost always a perforated metal deck. Hole siz‐ing can be confirmed by Witte in our test laboratory.


Perforated Fines Deck Witte has received positive feedback from numerous customers about using a perfo‐rated fines deck in place of a wire mesh screen deck to remove fines from the product. The primary advantage to this deck is it requires less cleaning and is easier to clean when clean‐ing is required. There are less cracks and openings for material to get caught in. Witte can make this deck with holes as small as 5/64” or .077”, which is a similar opening to a number 10 mesh screen. This is a direct replacement that requires no other modifications to the unit.


Auto‐Tapper In special situations where near size pellets become lodged in the oversize perforated deck, Witte offers an air actuated tapper that helps free pellets from the hole by inducing a small resonance in the deck from the impact. This system is setup to work on a adjustable cycle timer.


Motor Starter Witte offers a locally mounted and wired mo‐tor starter for all 200 units. The standard enclosure is NEMA 12, but can be changed for different envi‐ronments. A fused disconnect switch is standard for machine lockout.

Quick Disconnect Discharge All product discharges now come standard with thumb screws to allow quick removal of the product discharge for thorough cleaning. In situa‐tions where contamination can’t be tolerated, this can be very helpful.

Screen Cover with Windows Clear lexan windows can be placed on the screen cover to allow for complete visual inspection of the screening process..
