Commodore’s Communique Happy New Year!!! We hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Holiday Season! Lady Els and I are truly humbled and honored to have been selected to serve as your Commodore and Lady for 2021! We look forward to seeing everyone back at the Club in February, and representing GIYC at all upcoming events! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank now P/C Todd Duffett and Lady Patti for their service to the Club and their help and tutelage as we moved through the chairs ….. it’s greatly appreciated! Due to the State mandated COVID-19 restrictions we were not able to conduct our traditional Change of Watch; however, we were able to broadcast a Virtual Change of Watch. Thank you for all of you who tuned to participate on Zoom. For those of you who were not able to attend, the video has been posted to the GIYCOfficial Facebook page for your viewing pleasure. Please consider the opportunity to get a jump on your work hours during the month of January, after the State restrictions are lifted, to assist in completing some of the projects around the Club. I’ve included a flyer in this issue of The Spray with the reservation information and link. Please plan on joining us ….. it’s going to be a great time! Also, the reservation information for the July, 2021 Rendezvous in the Thousand Islands (Alexandria Bay, NY) will be forthcoming shortly. Always trying to be the realistic optimist, I think this is sound advice. I would like to thank the membership for their support of my position of Rear Commodore. I look forward to working with the membership, Board and Bridge over these next three years. For all of you who attended the virtual Change of Watch, thank you. You all were dressed so nicely from the waist up! With a little joke aside and the camera angles off, the honor is not lost on me. I look forward to the time when we will all be able to enjoy our beautiful club and each other’s company again (maybe even within 6 feet of one another). Dear Members,

The staff and I would like to thank the Bridge, BOD and our Members for the much-appreciated participation to the employee Christmas fund.

We all realize this has been a very trying and difficult year and will hopefully be all behind us in 2020 so we can move ahead with a wonderful New Year in 2021.

I would also like to thank the membership for supporting the club in all the to go orders, wine, beer and our grocery list sales purchases. Chef Jason and I will be preparing another list soon to give our members first opportunity for some good buys while helping the club with unforeseen inventory due to the shut down.

I also want to thank P/C Todd Duffet and Lady Patti for making the best of 2020. Congratulations on a job well served while working out of the box to make a great year for all our GIYC members and staff.

Please stop by and check on fixer up projects we have in the works for January. And if you are interested in getting a start on work hours please send me an email and we can get you started for 2021. I know P/C McCarthy would really appreciate any help you can give him.

February will have us opening on February 7th Super Bowl Sunday, please come and join us for a tailgate party with a bar menu and ½ off drinks.

The dockage charge will be for the rated boat dock length or boat length, whichever is greater. Boat length shall include bowsprits, swim platforms, dinghies, appendages, etc. as determined by the Fleet Measurer / Fleet Captains. A deposit of 50% must accompany all NEW or FIRST TIME applications. If awarded a well assignment, the balance will be paid in accordance with the dock rules.

1. If you had a well in 2020 and wish to retain that well, DO NOT submit an application. You will be billed in three installments – the first on your January 31 statement and the second on your February 28 statement and your last billing on your March 31 statement.

2. Current well holders wanting to change wells will submit a Dock Application without a deposit. This deposit will automatically be billed; any required adjustment will be made on the final billing. Verbal requests will not be honored.

3. Assignments / reassignments must be submitted in writing and will not be accepted until January 1, 2021. VERBAL REQUESTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. NO EXCEPTIONS!

4. Incomplete applications will be voided and returned. 5. Each well holder’s boat shall be insured for the time it is berthed or stored at Grosse Ile Yacht Club. Proof of insurance shall be

forwarded to the Fleet Captain prior to launch.

6. If you wish to relinquish your dock, please notify the Fleet Captain in writing prior to January 15, 2021 to avoid billing and possible loss of deposit.
