Part 1 How to download / install Bb Mobile Learn?
Blackboard Mobile™ Learn takes interactive teaching and learning to the mobile device, giving
students and teachers instant access to their courses and organizations anywhere.
This user guide is for mobile devices iPhone and iPod Touch. The following steps are about how to
download / install that App Bb Mobile Learn in those devices.
1. Tap the icon “App Store” at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap Search, type “blackboard mobile” and then tap the searched result.

3. Bb logo and author information “Blackboard Inc.” are shown as below. Tap the row for that App.
4. On the information of that App, tap button to install.
5. The icon of the App with title “Mobile Learn” would be shown.

You can also download / install via iTunes in your computer. Input “blackboard mobile” or
“blackboard mobile learn” in the top right Search field. The list of Apps would be shown. Click the
button for the suitable App. Start to download and then sync with your device.

Part 2 How to access e‐Portal via Bb Mobile Learn?
After installation, you can use that App to access Blackboard course and organization sites.
1. Tap the icon “Mobile Learn” on the screen.
2. The App “Bb Mobile Learn” would be opened. Tap the Search field and input CityU’s Public ID
“E9PTVR”. Tap on “City University of Hong Kong” which would be shown on the list.

3. Enter your CityU Electronic ID and Password. Tap button to login.
4. After logging in, the list of courses would be shown.
You can tap “Organizations” at the bottom if you need to
access any Blackboard organization site.
5. Tap on the title of course / organization site to access.

Part 3 Features and Functions of Bb Mobile Learn
After tapping the name of Blackboard course / organization from the list, you would see the menu
on Course / Organization Map.
Some contents you can access via Bb Mobile Learn.

On Course / Organization Map, tap on the content area such as “Course Documents” or
“Documents”. A list of items may be shown.
Tap the item and then the file under “Attachments” to view.

On Course / Organization Map, tap “Announcements”.
Post(s) in “Announcements” would be shown as following.

Q: What should I do if the App exits on its own?
A: Restart your mobile device and then retry.
Q: Why some items / entries are missing on my mobile device?
A: Sometime you need to logout and then re‐login to view the latest items. Nevertheless, a
web browser on a computer will give you a more reliable view all the time.
Q: Why sometime image cannot be displayed?
A: Images, video and other files uploaded to visual editors on Bb are not viewable via Bb
Mobile Learn.
Q: Why some formats of items and entries cannot be displayed well?
A: Some formats (i.e. bullet points, table) modified by visual editors on Bb are not viewable
via Bb Mobile Learn.
Q: Can the screen be rotated to horizontal?
A: Bb Mobile Learn does not provide such feature at this point.
Q: Can I submit assignment using my mobile device?
A: Bb Mobile Learn does not support assignment submission at this point.

Appendix C Reset device before returning
Before returning device to your home department, you must remove all settings and information
from the device.
Fully charge the device before beginning this process. Otherwise, connect the device to power and
leave it connected until the process is completed.
1. Tap the icon “Settings” on the first screen page in the device.
2. Tap “General”.
3. Tap “Reset” at the bottom of the page “General”
4. Tap “Erase All Content and Settings” on page “Reset”.
The reset process may take up to several hours.
