new, very expensive, beautiful hand tufted
wool rug and wondered if they knew it was
you who did it the next day?

Math was not my thing. It could have been if
color was part of the equation. Then it would
all make sense. Ah, order that can only be

Don’t worry it all works out in the end.
Every day is a chance to redo it and make it

About Sarah
A true child of the world, Sarah Rowland was born in Birmingham, Alabama, then soon afterwards moved with her family to Brussels, Belgium. When Sarah was 12, her family came back to the US. In the next few years, they moved from a rural Pennsylvania town to a rural Wisconsin town to a small town in North Carolina. She also lived in Cali, Columbia.
Eventually, Sarah found herself in Richmond, Virginia, where she entered Virginia Commonwealth University’s design program. From Richmond, she headed to Tokyo, to work under Tsuneo Taniuchi on the design of a paper sculpture book. Back in the states, Sarah worked in-house and freelance as a graphic designer for agencies in Boston, Los Angeles, New York and Richmond. She took a summer to study Textile Design and Print Making at the Royal College of Art in London. Returning to Virginia, she launched the magazine 64, a regional arts and culture publication. Sarah’s graphic design portfolio includes work for some of the largest companies in the world such as Architectural Digest, Walmart, UPS, PetSmart, Hanes, SAAB, Pacific Bell and Reynolds Metals Company.
Today, she designs textiles from a mid-century rancher on the banks of the James in Richmond, a place of river rocks, antebellum architecture, rich natural beauty and cultural interest.
Visitors are welcome.
