• #1. “Have you ever felt like you were alone? like no one understood you. The feeling like the inside of you is dead and you are living you life as a corpse trying to find happiness to feed on, like anyone or anything could just knock you down with one blow and the only resolution is to see your own blood hit the floor. That’s what it felt like to be me for 7 years of neglect and being alone, not letting anyone in out of fear of getting hurt.”

#1—confident; engaging/exciting; who wouldn’t’ want to keep reading?#2---It’s OK. My mom/dad/grandparent might keep reading (B/c they love me)#3—fairly weak; only my English teacher would want to keep reading (B/c she has to)

• #3. “Everytime I go outside at night I am on edge from the scary animal noises and the fact that i can’t see anything. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t scared of these things. My whole family knows these fears. The dark was hard to see people coming up behind you or the animals that are making scary noises. The night is the scariest part of the day.”

• #4. “My family has a history of animals. My mother has loved animals ever since she was a kid, and I guess I take after her. Before my brother got a cat, we’ve already had two dogs and one cat. So adding another animal to the family didn’t seem like a big deal … we were wrong.”

• #5. “I went to the most exciting Indians game with my family, on a sunny, hot, June 19, summer day. It was an AL central matchup between the Tribe and the Minnesota Twins.”

When people think of scars they immediately envision them as beautiful, even romantic, but the reality of it is, scars are reminders of how poorly we handled the past. People take words or actions that were spoken or done, and carve the hate into their beautiful, flawless skin; however, others are a victim of their own mind, like myself.”

• #9. “My mom is my hero in several different ways. Shes a fighter, shes strong, and a survivor.  Shes a great person and is very caring. I’m so lucky and thankful that my mom is here with me today and healthy. My mom has made it through a lot of tough times, but this one was one she will never forget.”

My cousin, Anna, lost her retainer at about 1:30 AM so while I was trying to relax and sleep she threw all my stuff while she was having a panic attack over having to pay for a new one, just imagine a monkey throwing all your stuff and screaming while you are trying to sleep.”

• #9. “When I was in 6th grade my NYB (Nordonia Youth Basketball) team went to the championship against the number one team in the league. From the start they gave it their all. Throughout the game my team  was down by only two or four points. We had our advantages with size and team chemistry, but they had speed. They were all fast and could get up the court quicker than anyone on my team so we had to limit the amount of turnovers to prevent them from getting easy points.”

baked into my skin while watching the blinding blue and red lights with loud sirens that could make me deaf. My big black lab was barking and growling at the men in uniforms. I saw my mommy’s curly blond hair in the back seat of the jet black police car. Questions flooded my mind like a tsunami. Why are there policemen at my house?”

that are bad, apparently I was wrong. On one cold day, my parents were talking about getting a new dog today,(our last one just died 5 days before.)  I really didn't want a dog from the pound.  I thought dogs from the pound were old, broken, filthy, betrayed, little animals from there last owner.  So we left the house and went to the first pound.  When we first  got in there, it was really loud and smelly, it smelled like wet dog and dodo. We went up and down the aisle of the dogs in cages. There were a lot of pit bulls. There were no good dogs in this pound.”

• 2. “It was a warm summer when jared and I went to the beach, it was an exciting day. but lately my social anxiety had been chipping away at me like a sculptor's chisel on marble. Ever since sixth grade I hadn't felt the same, afraid to embarrass myself, to speak out of turn, afraid to be my self. But, I was confident that I could break the awful bonds of my anxiety before high school started.”

grave. The grave belonged to my Uncle Curt, the greatest man who walked the planet. A young life that was taken way too soon. The crisp autumn air pierced my lungs with each breath as I remembered a simpler time, a happier time. I remember the first time I conquered a fear that I never thought I would defeat. He helped me, he understood. It’s crazy looking back and thinking that would be one of the last times I saw him”

It was

a challenge at first, but I got better. One of my friends, Mason, was an excellent swimmer, and the fastest on the team. He had gotten under thirty seconds in his fifty freestyle time way before me. At every meet, I would see his times and sit alone at my towel, wishing I could do what he and did.”

• 5. “One day, i went over my neighbors house, danielle and colee’s; just to hangout and we decided to go on a walk. since i was a baby, my mothers family would get together at my grandparents to celebrate holidays and birthdays. We would always have a blast together whether we were inside or outside. But, one of our many get-togethers will always be remembered differently than all the others.”

• 7. “One day me and my family were at dinner with the rest of my family and we were debating where we would like to go on vacation. We all thought it would be fun to go to Europe on a cruise ship! But the only way to get  there would be to fly. I’ve never been on a plane before so it was just scary to even think about being above the clouds, not being able to see anything, or anyone.”

Most of her cats either died of disease or ran away. Johnny was scared that my first cat would die like my mother’s cats. Either way, he was excited to get a cat for the first time.”

So later she thought of asking our other friend, Valerie, to come over and hangout with us. Of course, she had to ask her mom is she was allowed, when she asked, her mom said she could, so Valerie came over and hang out with us.”

• 10. “Ever since my mom and i went to Pennsylvania in her tiny little blue Saturn I have hated long car rides. After my mom sold her Saturn to young blond girl with nice eyes we had gotten a dark blue Chrysler town and country. The minivan had three times the space the old car did and was a lot nicer with two TV's and limo lights on the selling.”

• 1. “As I walked into the bright lights of the convention center the smell of fresh printed comic books and new costumes filled my mind. Finally I thought, I’m here at comic-con for the first time, this is my chance to do what I thought would never happen. At this point I’m guaranteed to meet the guy of my dreams, the guy that I have been watching behind a television screen for four years. This was no doubt my only chance I could take my dreams and make it a reality. The only chance to be truly happy for the rest of my life.”

It was still dark which was a good thing I got downstairs, there was a smell of fresh toasted bread in the air. We had a fresh breakfast of light golden brown toast perfectly prepared egg. I put on my dark camouflage it was a nice thick coating. I walked outside the crisp fall air hit me it was cold for a fall morning but it was good I know it would only improve my chances.”

I was sighting in my scope and practicing shooting my cross bow all day. We practiced to around 6, and then the time had come to go hunting. At this moment i was very excited, we started to head to the woods.  I went in a tree stand and my cousins walk slow off to my right about 400 meters away deep in to the woods. I was sitting up in the treed stand with the cool fall breeze. I could see the big open field in front of me, and the leaf covered ground around the tree, with the sound of birds singing their evening songs for what seemed to be four hours, but was only 30 minutes.”

• 4. “I always wanted another dog. I already have one dog, whose name is Maddie. She was abused by her previous owner, but I got her from the APL. It was at the end of last Summer, around August, when I got my dog. I went to my friends ice skating competition. My dad was going to be there after it was over. I got a call from my dad saying he has a surprise in the car for me. I thought that it would be like a new PlayStation that I had been wanting for a long time to get. But getting Buddy was even better then a PlayStation.”

But it wasn’t just any old first day of school, it was my first day of high school! I got out of my bed quickly and I actually wasn’t tired, I was wide awake. Maybe it was the fact that I could feel all the nerves in my body shaking. I walked to the kitchen and saw my breakfast waiting for me on the table but I didn’t eat it. Yet I could hear my stomach sound at the smell of the crisp bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. But I wasn’t hungry. I went to my room and put my clothes on and tied my shoes.”

All of these adventures have a story behind it but I have always wanted to conquer my fear of exploring a cave[Man vs. Nature/ Me vs. my fear of nature]. I was five and went in a cave for a field trip for school and found bats fly through which scared me for the rest of my life. Screaming and yelling filled the cave with screeching horror. In all honesty over time I have gotten claustrophobic and swore that I would never go in a cave or tight spaces ever again.
