SUMMARY
The Thomson claim bloc lies within Dana Township, about 100 road kilometres (50 km direct)
northeast of the City of Sudbury, Ontario. The claim bloc consists of 3 unpatented mining claim
units in l bloc that cover 36 hectares (0.36 km2 or 89 acres); claim map G-2904 (Dana Twp.)
shows the claims as covering 48 hectares or 3 full claim units (119 acres). The Thomson property
is underlain by rocks of the River Valley Intrusion (RVI), a large mafic intrusion of
Paleoproterozoic age (ea. 2 .56 to 2.47 Ga).
Work on the Thomson claim group was focused on geological mapping and sampling, in order to
evaluate the potential for Platinum-Group metal (PGM) mineralization associated with sulphide
and/or oxide minerals within the main portion of the intrusion. To date, PGM with the best
chance for economic viability have come from disseminated Cu-Ni sulphide mineralization that is
hosted by an extensive breccia unit, occurring proximal to the northern intrusive contact. The
current program is, in part, aimed at evaluating the upper portion of the intrusion for it potential
to host PGM within a stratabound or "reef type environment.
The current exploration program on the Thomson Claims was successful in identifying several
new PGM showings and in mapping in greater detail the distribution of the rock types, structure
and alteration patterns. The highest concentration of PGM (0.99 g/t Pt and 0.56 g/t Pd) came
from sample 52913, a coarse-grained to very coarse-grained gabbro with trace to G.5% visible
sulphide. The current program also demonstrated that when prospecting in the upper parts of the
stratigraphy, the presence of visible sulphide is not a necessity in generating elevated PGM
concentrations. Moreover, the relative lack of Cu-Ni sulphide and low sulphur suggests that the
PGM are associated with some other phase such as an oxide (magnetite?) and/or the PGE are
present mainly as platinum-group metals.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents a summary of the work performed on Pacific North West Capital
Corporation's (PFN) Thomson claims which was completed between July 6th and July 26th, 2001;
the claims are situated in Dana Township, Sudbury Mining Division, Ontario (Figure 1). The
work program is aimed at evaluating the potential for PGM mineralization within the upper
stratigraphic units of the intrusive complex.
PFN's River Valley property, which is located just to the north of the Thomson claim group but
is non-contiguous, contains anomalous concentrations of platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), rhodium
(Rh), gold (Au), copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni). These metals are associated with sulphide
mineralisation that is primarily hosted by a heterolithic breccia (autoliths of pyroxenite-gabbro-
leucogabbro-anorthosite and xenoliths of country rock) occurring along the northeast margin of
the River Valley Intrusion (RVI), over a potential strike length that is ^ km.
Terminology
In this report, platinum-group metals or PGM refers to total concentration of Pt+Pd+Au and is
also referred to as 3E; 4E refers to the total concentration of Pt+Pd+Rh+Au. PGM is
synonymous with platinum-group elements (PGE) and the two terms are used interchangeably.
Current Program
The current work program (July 6th-26th, 2001) consisted of:
1. Geological mapping and sampling along the perimeter of the claim bloc; this
included a GPS survey of the claim boundary using a Trimble Pro-XRS with
TSC1 Asset Survey, using Landstar Real-Time differential correction with sub-
meter accuracy;
2. geological mapping and sample collection across the claim bloc; and,
3. geological mapping at l: 1000 scale.

3.0 LOCATION A ACCESSIBILITY________________________________
The Thomson claims lie within Dana Township and located about 100 road kilometres (50 km
direct) northeast of the City of Sudbury, Ontario (Figures l Si 2). The claim bloc is centred at
approximately 558344mE and 5164731mN (UTM17/NAD27). The claims are accessed by
travelling northwest and then north along HWY 805 from River Valley, a distance of about 5 km
from the Temagami River (north end of the village of River Valley). Turn right onto a logging
road, at the Giroux house, following it for about 500 m, approaching the site of the old Dana
Black Granite quarry. At this point several skidder roads and access trails lead toward the interior
of the claim bloc.
4.0 CLAIM STATUS_________________________________________
The Thomson claim group consists of 3 unpatented mining claim units (l claim blocs) that
cover 3.59 hectares (0.359 km2), in south-central Dana Township (Figure 3 and Claim Map G-

5.0 REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The main River Valley property and Thomson claims are primarily underlain by rocks of the
River Valley Intrusion (RVI), a large Paleoproterozoic (ea. 2 .56 to 2.47 Ga) intrusion that forms
part of the Huronian-Nipissing Magmatic Province (HNMP), which is also referred to as the
Huronian Metallogenic Province (HMP). The HMP also includes intrusive bodies such as the
East Bull Lake and Shakespeare-Dunlop (Agnew Lake) intrusions (ea. 2 .48 Ga) and younger
intrusions (ea. 2.2 Ga) of Nipissing Diabase (gabbro), all of which are intrusive into
Paleoproterozoic sedimentary rocks of the Huronian Supergroup (ea. 2 .45 Ga). Northwest-
trending olivine gabbro dykes of the Sudbury dyke swarm (ea. l .2 Ga) crosscut all of the older
rock types.
The East Bull Lake, River Valley and Shakespeare-Dunlop intrusions are thought to be the
products of sulphide-undersaturated, low Ti, high Al, tholeiitic magmas related to Late Archean-
Early Proterozoic (2440-2490 Ma) rifting of the Superior Province, and the subsequent
development of the Southern Province. Although no feeder dykes have been confirmed for the
intrusions, diabase dykes of the Matachewan-Hearst swarm appear to be the best candidates.
These dykes have high background PGM contents, contain bleb to finely disseminated sulphide
and have a whole-rock chemistry that is similar to the estimated bulk chemistry (parent magma)
of the East Bull Lake Intrusion.
The RVI intrudes Archean granitic plutonic rocks (alkali feldspar granite and syenite), and
regionally folded migmatitic gneiss and paragneiss (Pardo gneiss) along its eastern boundary and
lies in fault contact with Huronian metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks along its western
edge.

The intrusion consists primarily of leuconorite and leucogabbro with subordinate anorthosite,
gabbro and pyroxenite and was originally thought to be a Late-Proterozoic anorthosite massif
intruded across the Grenville Front boundary fault (Lumbers, 1973). However, recent age dating
and current mapping confirms that the RVI is in fact part of the East Bull Lake suite of mafic
layered intrusions.
The RVI covers more than 100 km2 and lies adjacent to, and straddles the Grenville Front
within the Grenville Province and the Grenville Front Tectonic Zone (GFTZ). The GFTZ
represents a complex zone, several kilometres wide and consisting of generally southeast-dipping
imbricate thrust faults. In the area of the River Valley property, the GFTZ is located along the
westernmost edge of the claims where it is represented by a system of eastward-dipping (l0-25 0)
thrust faults. This fault system separates the intrusive rocks of the RVI from younger
sedimentary and intrusive rocks of the Huronian Supergroup (includes Nipissing Diabase). It is
likely that intrusive rocks of the RVI are interdigitated with Huronian rocks along the fault-bound
western contact.
Within Pardo Township, a north-trending apophysis of the RVI is in fault(?) contact with older
(Archean Superior Province) mylonitic granitic rocks. In Dana Township the western boundary
is in fault contact with rocks of the Southern Province, and the eastern and northern boundaries
are in igneous contact with Archean migmatite and paragneiss of the Superior Province. The
eastern and northern boundaries were previously mapped as being in contact with parts of the
Grenville Province (cf. Lumbers, 1973).
The RVI can be separated into two main areas on the basis of structural coherence and
preservation of primary igneous features such as contacts and layering. The eastern part of the
RVI, located primarily in Dana and Crerar Townships, is represented by the best preserved
portions of the intrusion and as such is most prospective areas for discovery. PFN's River Valley
property covers about AO'Yo of this area including about l O km of highly prospective northern
igneous contact. Further to the west, in Henry, Janes, Loughrin, Street and Awrey Townships,
the geology of the western part of the RVI is complicated by the effects of Grenville
metamorphism. In this area the rocks are attenuated, folded and structurally modified such that
most of the primary features are absent.
Metamorphism and Deformation
Metamorphic grade within the RVI ranges from greenschist to amphibolite facies in the west
(Dana Lake Area), greenschist to lower amphibolite in the east-northeast (Lismer's Ridge) and
middle amphibolite or higher metamorphic grades in the southern portions (Crerar Township). In
![Page 11: 2-21838 J-B Exploration - Search GeologyOntario · In this report, platinum-group metals or PGM refers to total concentration of Pt+Pd+Au and is also referred to as 3E; 4E refers](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022108/5c01138809d3f20f068c20e5/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
the immediate area of the Thomson Claims, rock textures are largely well preserved showing
evidence of greenschist to lower amphibolite facies metamorphism. The Sturgeon River
Deformation Zone or Sturgeon River Fault, a major northwest trending feature located in the
southern part of Dana Township and the northern part of Crerar Township, appears to separate
RVI rocks of slightly higher metamorphic grade to the south from rocks of relatively lower
metamorphic grade to the north. The Thomson Claims lie to the north of this major fault system.
Primary igneous mineralogy and textures are well-preserved in "core" areas generally located
away from, and topographically above, major deformation zones, and structurally above but
proximal to thrust fault zones (Hrominchuk, 2000).
On the River Valley Property, the intrusion is cut by numerous thrust faults with the main
direction of thrusting toward the present northeast (Hrominchuk, 2000). Localized ^200 m
wide) mylonitic deformation zones (trending about 3 O0) cut through the main body of the RVI at
intervals ranging from 700 m to about l km between deformation zones. Other east-west
trending mylonite shears cut through the intrusion in the northeast part of the intrusion, near the
Pardo-Dana Township line; major deformation zones and faults are marked by linear topographic
features such as swamps and, creeks and rivers.
Regional Tectonics A Crustal Sequence
Easton (2000) suggested a crustal sequence across the Grenville Front in the River Valley Area
that represents a southward-deepening section of crust. Exposure of the section is thought to be
the result of north-northwest directed transport along Grenville-age thrust faults. Easton (2000)
interpreted various levels of crustal exposure to include:
(1) Archean(?) metawackes exposed immediately north of the Grenville Front
represent high-levels of crust;
(2) Pardo gneiss immediately south of the Grenville Front represent the middle to
lower part of a 10-15 km thick upper crustal layer dominated by supracrustal
and moderate- to high-level intrusive rocks (i.e. Huronian Supergroup,
Nipissing Diabase);
(3) Red Cedar Lake gneiss represent the basal portion of the 10-15 km upper
crustal layer; and
(4) Crerar gneiss (tonalite to granodiorite gneiss and plutons) represent part of a 10-
15 km thick middle crustal layer.
![Page 12: 2-21838 J-B Exploration - Search GeologyOntario · In this report, platinum-group metals or PGM refers to total concentration of Pt+Pd+Au and is also referred to as 3E; 4E refers](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022108/5c01138809d3f20f068c20e5/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
The RVI appears to have been emplaced at the interface between a domain of migmatized
supracrustal rocks and a domain of granitoid plutonic rocks (Easton, 2000). Depth of
emplacement of the RVI remains unclear and it is suggested by Easton (2000) that the depth
could range from relatively high in the crust (3-5 km depth) to mid-crustal levels (~10 km depth).
Still unknown, is the effect of tectonic unroofing and transport of the RVI due to thrusting during
the Penokean Orogeny (1850-1700 Ma). Structural modifications during the Penokean Orogeny
may have been a significant factor in allowing for uplift and exposure of the RVI during the
Grenville Orogeny.
6.0 PROPERTY GEOLOGY_____________________________________
Mafic intrusive rocks of the River Valley Intrusion, both altered and relatively unaltered,
underlie the three claim units of the Thomson Claims. The mafic intrusive rocks have been
subdivided into leucogabbro and gabbro/anorthosite, and comprise at least 95*^ of the rock
exposures (see attached Geological Map). A Sudbury Swarm (~1.1 Ga) dyke and altered gabbro
which is interpreted to be altered River Valley Intrusion, comprise the remaining 5 07o of exposed
rocks on the claims.
6.1 Lithological Summary
Gabbro/Anorthosite is medium to coarse grained, contains SO-90%, dark grey, subhedral to
euhedral, plagioclase and JO-50% interstitial clots of pyroxene and/or hornblende with minor
magnetite. Sulphide clots and blebs (generally chalcopyrite) are rare, as are quartz veins.
Locally, along quartz veins and fractures, mafic clots are altered to fine grained chlorite +
amphibole H-/- biotite/phlogopite +J- garnet with very rare blue quartz.
Leucogabbro/Gabbro consists of 60-90'Ki white to light grey plagioclase with coarse grained
to pegmatitic regions that help distinguish it from the gabbro/anorthosite unit. Leucogabbro
consists of SO-90% subhedral to euhedral plagioclase and lG-50% interstitial mafic clots. These
mafic clots are mostly comprises fine grained, prismatic, hornblende with minor chlorite, biotite
and rare garnet. Small clots of chalcopyrite are rare and very fine grained sulphides occur finely
disseminated in mafic clots locally. Overall, sulphide content is very low (*x^).
One outcrop of medium grained olivine-gabbro occurs along the northern claim line, trends in
a north-south direction, and is composed of approximately equal amounts of inter-grown
hornblende and white plagioclase. A few rusty spots suggest the presence of trace amounts of
sulphides. This unit is magnetic (~10'K) oxide) and is interpreted to be a Sudbury Swarm dyke.
10
![Page 13: 2-21838 J-B Exploration - Search GeologyOntario · In this report, platinum-group metals or PGM refers to total concentration of Pt+Pd+Au and is also referred to as 3E; 4E refers](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022108/5c01138809d3f20f068c20e5/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Altered gabbro is generally a fine grained, calc-silicate rock consisting of granular plagioclase,
chlorite, light green amphibole, epidote, biotite/phlogopite, and garnet. These rocks outcrop
directly east of a north-south flowing creek/swamp and grade over a distance of 10m into
relatively fresh/recognizable River Valley gabbro. Another alteration mineral assemblage
comprises fine grained, light green minerals (tremolite /serpentine?) and -lO'J'o magnetite
outcrops on the opposite side (west) of the creek/swamp. This appears to grade into fresh gabbro
over 5 m. Both, alteration assemblages carry trace amounts of sulphides.
6.2 Alteration A Metamorphism
Alteration/metamorphism of the mafic minerals (to fine grained prismatic hornblende, chlorite,
biotite and garnet) occurs throughout the western half of the claims and along the NE-SW
oriented valley to the east (see attached map). This same alteration mineral assemblage is also
found on the eastern side of the claims but it is restricted to envelopes along fractures and quartz
veins.
6.3 Local Structure
Fracturing and small scale shears (l to 10 cm wide) are generally oriented NE-SW in the
southeastern portion of the claim bloc. The NE-SW orientation parallels a linear valley, which
cuts through the southern portion of the claims (see attached map), and coincides with
hornblende+Achlorite-b'-biotite-b'-garnet alteration. This possibly suggests a more substantial
shear zone/fault is located in the valley. Furthermore, the localization of carbonate alteration
along a N-S oriented valley that cuts through the centre of the two western claim units may also
indicate the presence of a shear zone/fault that acted as a conduit for hydrothermal fluids.
6.4 Mineralization
Gabbro/anorthosite and leucogabbro rocks generally contain trace to negligible sulphides.
However, rare sulphide pods and blebs 0.5 to 20 cm in diameter, and fine-grained disseminated
sulphides (within mafic pods or regions) occur locally in the gabbro/anorthosite and leucogabbro
units. Sulphides consist primarily of pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite with minor pyrite.
Altered gabbro contains trace amounts to \ 07o disseminated sulphide, along with small ^Imm
diameter) blebs of pyrite and subordinate pyrrhotite. Trace sulphide also occurs in the olivine-
gabbro dyke at the north end of the claim bloc.

7.0 TOPOGRAPHY AND VEGETATION
Topography on the claims consists of two north-south ridges separated by a creek valley that
runs along the western boundary and through the centre of the SE unit. Slopes are generally
gentle, except for local, 2-3 m step-like outcrops on western slopes of the eastern N-S ridge, and a
5-10 m high cliff along a NE-SW gully that dissects the eastern ridge. Vegetative cover varies
from mixed pine, spruce, scrub oak, poplar and maple forest along ridges and at hill-tops, to
dominantly deciduous poplar and birch forest in low lying areas.
8.0 PREVIOUS WORK ________________________________________
In the summer of 2000, PFN completed regional geological mapping along the perimeter of the
Thomson Claim bloc. This work was completed at the same time as the initial OPS surveying of
the claim boundary. At this time, three samples were collected from claim S-1229380 from
which one, sample LH-158, assayed 31 ppb Au, 683 ppb Pt, 566 ppb Pd (1280 ppb 3E), 101 ppm
Ni and 1 110 ppm Cu; this sample constitutes the Thomson Showing (see Geological Map). This
sample is described as coarse-grained, massive, anorthosite (leucogabbro) with about 3*^
disseminated and bleb sulphide (207o cpy, Wo po). Other assays from this area include 83 1 ppb 3E
(LH-148: medium-grained, melagabbro) and 675 ppb 3E (LH-157: coarse-grained, anorthosite-
leucogabbro).

9.0 CURRENT WORK
9.1 Geological Mapping A Sampling
The 2001 work program consisted of five days of geological mapping and sampling and three
days of report writing and drafting; a differential OPS survey of the claim posts and claim
boundary was also completed at this time. A two man crew, consisting of one consulting

geologist with assistant completed the fieldwork between July 6th and July 10th, 2001 and were
based out of the TC Hotel in Verner, Ontario; subsequently three days were required to complete
the drafting and report.
Field Procedures
The GPS survey of the claim boundary was completed using a Trimble Pro XRS with TSC l
Asset Survey, using Landstar real-time differential correction with sub-meter accuracy. Points
(claim posts) were averaged from readings taken over 5 minutes (collected at least 300 points).
Rock samples collected were given a UTM position using a hand-held Garmin 12-XL GPS unit,
bagged, and given a unique sample number before shipping to Bondar Clegg Laboratories in Val
d'Or, Quebec. Samples were taken from most exposures in the study area and were selected: (1)
due to presence of sulphide minerals, (2) to represent every distinct rock type, and (3) every 50 m
along traverses, if exposure was available. A representative hand sample was also collected and
these samples are stored in Sudbury.
10.0 ANALYTICAL RESULTS___________________________________
A total of 64 rock samples were collected during the Thomson claims work program and
submitted for Pt-Pd-Au-Cu-Ni analysis. Locations of the samples are shown on the Geological
Map (1:1000 scale) and are listed with descriptions in Appendix 1; assay certificates are provided
in Appendix 2.
10.1 Sampling St Analytical Technique
All grab samples were sent to Chimitec Bondar Clegg (Val d'Or, Quebec) where they were
analyzed for Pt-Pd-Au using standard lead fire assay, followed by dissolution with aqua regia,
and measurement with an ICP finish. Lower limits of detection (30 g sample) are l ppb for Au, 5
ppb for Pt and l ppb for Pd, and lower limits are 2000 ppb for Au, and 10,000 ppb for Pt and Pd.
Concentrations of Cu-Ni were determined by ICP methods and generally have lower limits of
detection of l .0 ppm for Cu and Ni; upper limits are 10000 ppm for Cu and 20000 ppm for Ni.
10.2 Background
Background values were determined from Pacific Northwest Capital Corp's, River Valley
Project Phase 3 drill program. These values were calculated from the arithmetic average of 271

samples with low Cu concentrations (*:100 ppm Cu), which is considered to be a close
approximation of low sulphur content (Table 3). The overall average background metal
concentrations, based on Phase l surface work and Phases l, 2, and 3 drill core sampling is 11.6
ppb Au, 49.9 ppb Pt, 71.8 ppb Pd (133.3 ppb 3E and 121.7 ppb Pt+Pd), 98.4 ppm Ni, 55.0

10.3 Analytical Results
Of the 64 samples collected, 5 1 have concentration that are ^0 ppb Pt+Pd; these samples are
listed in table 4 and all 64 samples are described in Appendix 1. Of the 51 samples,
concentrations of Pt+Pd range from 20 ppb to 1546 ppb with the highest concentrations
associated with melagabbro to gabbro that contain very little ^l*/^) visible sulphide. The
arithmetic average of the 51 samples is 96.9 ppb Pt+Pd and 1.9 Pd:Pt ratio. The highest
concentration of PGM (0.99 g/t Pt and 0.56 g/t Pd) is from sample 52913, a coarse-grained
to very coarse-grained gabbro with trace to G.5% visible sulphide. This sample contains
relatively low Cu (80 ppm) and Ni (l l ppm) concentrations which corresponds to its relatively
low sulphur content of G.06%. Only four of the 64 samples contain Pt+Pd concentrations that are
higher than the "exploration" background level of 122 ppb Pt+Pd.
Overall, the base metal values are typically low and in the 51 samples, Cu ranges from 8 ppm to
3257 ppm (108.3 ppm average) and Ni ranging from 5 ppm to 1389 ppm (75.2 ppm average).
The highest Cu-Ni concentrations are from sample 52901, a fine-grained gabbro with t-5%
visible sulphide. This sample contains 3257 ppm Cu and 1389 ppm Ni and the highest sulphur
content at 1.2807o; sample 52901 also contains 865 ppb Pt+Pd and relatively high Cr at 147 ppm.

The majority of the highest PGM concentrations occur in Unit l - a medium to coarse-grained,
gabbro to anorthosite with generally trace to Wo sulphide. The highest PGM concentration is
from Unit 2 - a coarse-grained to pegmatitic leucogabbro with trace to Wo sulphide. The region
of hornblende (+I- chlorite) + biotite alteration tends to have the highest overall PGM
concentrations; sample 52917 being the exception. The altered gabbro - Unit 4 - did not show
much PGM enrichment relative to other areas that were sampled.

11.0 CONCLUSIONS
The current exploration program on the Thomson Claims was successful in identifying several
new PGM showings and in mapping in greater detail the distribution of the rock types, structure
and alteration patterns. The highest concentration of PGM (0.99 g/t Pt and 0.56 g/t Pd) came
from sample 52913, a coarse-grained to very coarse-grained gabbro with trace to G.5% visible
sulphide. It is important to note that this sample contains low Cu (80 ppm) and Ni (11 ppm)
concentrations which corresponds to its relatively low sulphur content of G.06% and low visible
sulphide. This suggests that in the upper parts of the stratigraphy, the presence of visible sulphide
is not a necessity in generating elevated POM concentrations. Moreover, the relative lack of Cu-
Ni sulphide and low sulphur suggests that the PGM are associated with some other phase such as
an oxide and/or the PGE are present mainly as platinum-group metals. Samples 52917 and
52901, both with elevated Pt+Pd, do show some Fe enrichment relative to other samples,
suggesting the presence of an oxide phase such as magnetite.
In general, the pattern of elevated PGM is not well defined. The western ridge, along the
western boundary of the claim bloc, has the highest PGM values including those of the Thomson
Showing proper. Unit l had the most samples with elevated PGM, but the highest PGM values
came from Unit 2, along the western side of the claims.
12.0 RECOMMENDATIONS____________________________________
Although this program failed to recognize any stratigraphic continuity in PGM enrichment, it
did discover several new PGM showings on the Thomson claim bloc. It is recommended that
further fill-in sampling, primarily for geochemical detail, be completed over the claims and that
follow-up geological mapping and sampling also be completed. A surface geophysical survey,
such as Induced-Polarization, might be considered on the basis of the follow-up sampling and
mapping program; one might also consider a small trenching (stripping) and sampling program
should values improve with subsequent sampling.
