BLUES: MARK HUMMEL’S GOLDEN STATE LONESTAR REVUE Cross-Country Blues Extravaganza! Saturday, October 3 • 8 PM $17 - $27Winner of both Best Album and Best Traditional Album of the 2014 Blues Music Awards, and 2014 Grammy-Nominated for Best Blues Album, this band is a cross-country meeting of the minds between California and Texas musicians. Leader Mark Hummel is the premier blues harmonica player of his generation. JAZZ: VINCE GUARALDI TRIBUTE QUINTETFeaturing Larry Vuckovich on PianoSunday, February 21 • 2 PM $15 - $25Critically-acclaimed San Francisco-based jazz pianist, composer, bandleader and recording artist Larry Vuckovich brings his hugely popular Vince Guaraldi Tribute to the Firehouse stage. Having met Vince Guaraldi back in the day, Larry went on to become his only student, subbing for Vince, opening his shows, and in 1973 becoming his piano partner for his two keyboard quintet, “Powder Keg”. Vince Guaraldi is best known for his music for the Peanuts cartoons. “Linus and Lucy” and other Peanuts compositions have been recorded by many of the great Jazz pianists today.
