RECENT EVENTS

Midwest Z FestWhen: Wednesday, September 13, 2017 @ 6:00 a.m. - Sunday September 17 @ 5:00 p.m..Where: Kansas City, MO (see details below)Host: Roy Davis (email: [email protected]) (phone: 303-726-1644)

Diana Inberg (email: [email protected]) [phone: 970-284-6111 )

The group that went to Kansas City for the first Midwest Z Fest in seven years consisted of Roy Davis (organizer), DianaInberg, Fred and Kathy Minister, and Ed McHugh and Judy Genoff. We had an uneventful drive there except for Dianagetting two flat tires, she ran over some construction debris. We got the tires patched in no time and continued the rest ofthe way. When we arrived we had dinner with Mad Mike Taylor, then met Abe Alani (the man that put the Z fest on almostsingle handed), his girl friend helped him a lot. There were Z folks from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas and of course Colorado. We did a lot of eating of BBQ, We also went to the World War I museum, a must see ifever in KC. We took some spirited drives on some nice curvy roads ate some more BBQ and took a tour of The Elms Ho-tel in Excelsior Springs, MO. This hotel was built in 1888 and has the most wonderful spa I have ever seen.

We also went go carting which was a hoot. They were fast electric cars and were  not supposed to be used as bumpercars, but that didn't happen, several crashes occurred. There were some bumps and bruises and sore necks. It was ablast. The car show was held at Fenton Nissan at Legends. Not a huge show but about 40 cars there. Roy won best en-gine bay and Diana won best interior. We then went to another car show in the bowels of KC. Night time show for the Jap-anese City cars. We all got lost in an unsavory part of town as the street to the show was closed and we had to find ourway around.

Midwest Z Fest (continued)Roy won best engine bay at this show also. We had a great time with Mad Mike Taylor, he told great stories and showedmany pictures of the Japan trips the Zcrazies did. I must thank Abe Alani for putting the Midwest Z Fest together, he did agreat job with little help and he intends on having it again next year.

Our drive home was going smoothly until Roy had a bad blow out of his right front tire. He had to get a tow truck to tow itto the tire shop 11 miles away, luckily they had the correct tire in Junction City, Kansas. We got the tire replaced. no dam-age to his car or rim so we were off again for the remainder of the trip.
