Pastor’s NotesFirst Sunday of Advent

Dear Parish Family,

On this Thanksgiving weekend I pray that the time and fellowship you have had with friends and family have been blessed and joyous! I also pray that as we begin Advent your hearts will be open to the coming of the Christ Child in just a few short weeks. The coming days and weeks will be filled with much business and preparation as the Christmas and New Year holidays are on the horizon. In the midst of this busy time of year it is necessary for each of us to spend time in quiet prayer and reflect on what is truly coming to us on December 25. The greatest gift to all the world came in humbleness and obscurity. God Himself came into the world so that we would be liberated from the chains of our fallen nature and that the true meaning of our lives would be made known to us. It is so very easy to lose sight of the meaning of Christmas as we fill our schedules with shopping and social gatherings. This Advent strive to keep the Nativity scene present in your heart and mind. Keep the journey of Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem close. Keep the awe of the shepherds close, as well, and allow your soul to be filled with the joy of the Christ Child.

The reopening of the Main Church is getting closer each week. The resump-tion of Mass will occur on Saturday, December 19 at 5:30pm. From there we will resume the standard weekend schedule. Daily Masses will also be held in the Main Church at 8:00am and noon.

Please join us on Wednesday, December 16 at 6:30pm in the Cody Center for our Advent Penance service. There will be priests from around the diocese here for private Confession.

Our Christmas Tree Lot has opened this weekend and I encourage you to get your tree early! We have a limited supply, and all proceeds are in support of the Capital Campaign. See the bulletin for operating hours.

God bless,

Fr. Sebastian

What is my ‘Envelope Number’?An envelope or parishioner number is the num-ber assigned to your family when you register

in a parish. Along with your contact information it assists in keeping accurate records such as sacraments received and tithing. Once a year

we print out a statement of your giving for use at tax time and the envelope number appears on this. You do not have to receive offertory enve-lopes in the mail to have an envelope number. You might use Faith Direct or write your infor-mation on a blank envelope when you attend any Mass. If you don’t know your number and would like it, please give me a call and I’ll be

happy to help. Angela Drain – 904-268-5422 Ext 109 or
