A Message from PastorSam

...so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” - Paul the Apostle

(II Corinthians 11:3)

FTC, let’s simplify, let’s focus. Kingdom work involves so many aspects, causes and purposes that at times we become overwhelmed and choose rather to avoid Kingdom work altogether. It seems easier to disconnect from commitment, focus on our own affairs and attend church on Sundays.

In 2014 let us “work out our salvation” a quarter at a time. The church can look forward to embracing a specific monthly cause, complete a mission and celebrate victories every quarter. Then we can look forward to the next mountain to climb. Instead of getting lost in the Sunday-after-Sunday routine, we can, together, start and finish a specific mission. How can we accomplish this? I believe the secret is found in alignment and synchronization. Alignment is more powerful than

agreement. We can all agree on a specific cause or project, but when each member positions themselves in correct alignment, we will all push towards the same goal, at the same time. Like an aligned rowing crew, each synchronizing the dip and pull of their paddles, an aligned and synchronized church will cut through the waters at a faster pace. I say this because we must redeem the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:16) Not only will the church hasten its pace, it will experience new dimensions of depth and growth, in that order.

Experience graduates to relationship; rejoicing to celebration and tolerance to love. Addition will turn into multiplication; energy into synergy; the results: exponential growth! Pastor Sam Valverde

Passion for God: A desperate seeking of His presence

FILLEDJANUARY THEME

In January, let’s pray a lot. Get up early. Turn off the TV and pray that last half-hour before you go to bed. Visit the prayer room early in the morning. Let’s pray for a baptism of the Holy Spirit in every life. Pray together as a family. Fast every Wednesday and at least one Sunday. It’s time to seek his face.

PREACHING SERIES:

BUT BY MY SPIRIT“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6

The purpose of this series is for every FTC member to strive to be filled or re-filled with the Holy Ghost. God’s word already establishes that it is not by might or power, but by God’s spirit.

If I may, allow me to add that it is not programs, planning or even people who, by themselves, move the Kingdom forward. Like a beautiful car without a motor will not move an inch, neither will the church without the power of the Spirit of God. God uses programs, planning and people, but the thrust comes from his Spirit. In the days we live in, we cannot just say we are spirit-filled, we must be baptized by God’s presence in order to be able to work the works of him who sent us.

Sunday January 5, 2014: Don’t Even Try It! (The sons of oil)

Zechariah’s book begins with a series of eight visions that God gave to Zechariah and the people of Israel. This sermon will focus on the 5th vision whose message is clear: the temple cannot be rebuilt but by the spirit of God. It is only with the aid of the Holy Spirit that anything will be built, rebuilt or restored in our lives.

Sunday, January 12, 2014 - Pastor, I want a Powerful, Abundant and Effective Christian Life! (7 Reasons why we Need the Baptism of the Holy Ghost (Part I)

Are you tired of living a mediocre Christian life? Do you need more, but

don’t even know where to start? In four passages in the Gospel of John, Jesus (who is the one who baptizes with the Holy Ghost) shares why each believer must be baptized with His Spirit. He gives 7 functions of the Holy Ghost that will enrich the believer’s life. This message will challenge you to live a powerful, abundant and effective Christian life. Sunday, January 19, 2014 - Pastor, I want a Powerful, Abundant and Effective Christian Life. (7 Reasons why we Need the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.) (part II)

Sunday, January 26, 2014: But be Filled with the Spirit!

On this day (and Friday the 24th), Evangelist Ron Fernandez will minister to the congregation so that all will be filled or refilled by the Spirit of God.

n order for us and our families to receive a baptism of the fullness of his Spirit, we must prepare spiritually. Therefore I am calling the church to a 3-day fast the week of our revival. This

will take the place of our usual 21-day fast that some of us present to the Lord. Sometimes those fasts become more about what we can eat than a concentration on the Lord’s purpose. Although in the future we will call to another 21day fast, this time we will condense our fast to 3 days. I encourage you to fast food, technology of social media, television, movies and all other past times. Let us give ourselves wholly unto the Lord. It would be a good time to teach our children the discipline of fasting, by precept and example.

The February preaching series will cover marriage and family relationships. One of the messages entitled: Mi Memo no Fuma” (Spanish title to be explained) will deal with parental blind spots when it comes to admitting to their children’s faults. Another message will offer practical steps to take when dealing with rebellious teenagers. Details about the other messages will appear in the February bulletin.

Marriage Seminar - On Saturday, February 8, 2014 we will celebrate a marriage seminar entitled “Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth” based on Song of Solomon 1:7. This seminar will be an interactive time between couples as we delve into topics and subjects rarely discussed! Unhappy marriages are not a result of lack of love but rather a lacking of “telling each other what is important”! Don’t miss out!

Singles Seminar - Friday, February 14, 2014 All single parents and adults are invited to a seminar that will offer tools on how to cope with living the single’s life. We recommend Luci Swindoll’s unapologetic book “Wide My World, Narrow My Bed”. Other important topics and content from other useful literature will be presented in lectures, group dynamics and panels.

In February we will focus on family relationships. Let’s strengthen our marriages, improve our relationship with our children, parents and in-laws. In our last moments on this earth, it will be our immediate family surrounding our death bed and not are boss, colleagues or friends. Let’s invest wisely in the only ones we can take with us heaven.

“invest wisely in the only ones we can take...”

Healthy Families: A duty to cultivate

Page 12: 1st Quarter 2014

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

T he Journey is where we connect our friends who visit Fountain of Truth or one of our Life Groups, to the simple message of God’s love and what the bible instructs about God’s plan for salvation. Our friends and family often may wonder, “why is it so important to be baptized”, and “what does it really mean to be born again?”, “What do I need to do, to get this life I am living – right or back on track?” It’s really not complicated, it’s simple and it really does not require a person to be perfect or even to have it all together, in fact, quite the contrary. Jesus responded to a group of religious people who

had a hard time comprehending what he was doing and his message of unconditional love, hope and eternal life when he sat to eat with those who were not involved in any religion and not part of any religious circles, in the following manner, “Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin).” - Matthew 9:13 Amplified Version

We are beginning a bi-weekly Friday night Bible study!

Thank God it’s Friday edification will begin in February of 2014. We will celebrate this exciting event every 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.

Event Purpose: Edification! The purpose is to offer an in-depth systematic Bible study to FTC members because we need to grow strong roots in the word of God. These exegetical studies will cover apostolic doctrine, complete books of the Bible and other relevant topics. We will begin with a half hour of heart-felt prayer, an act of humbling ourselves before his presence previous to opening our hearts to the Word.

Why Friday Nights? Friday night is a good time for people to unplug from work, school and other life occupations and plug into God’s Spirit and Word. Because most do not work on Saturdays, there will be ample time for altar call, fellowship and interaction.

February 7th- Righteousness, for who? Romans 1:16-17February 21st- The righteous judge, who’s guilty? Romans 2:2March 7th- We all fall short! Romans 3:23March 21st- Justified! Romans 4:3Teachers: Pastor Abel Gonzalez & Pastor Phil Raya

FAITH

FAITH

MARCH THEME

“But without faith it is impossible to please him...” Hebrews 11:6

Is Matthew 17:20 to be taken literally? What is mustard-seed faith? Can I really move my mountain to a place called yonder?

The messages in March are for the weary; for those who find themselves in a rut (spiritual, relational, financial, ministry, etc.) They are for those who really need a miracle, that supernatural touch of God at the precise moment. They will encourage those who have let down the shield of faith and have been wounded by the arrows of discouragement. It is for those who have prayed faithfully, but as of yet - no answer. How many unanswered petitions are backed up in your life like a long line of 737s on the runway waiting to take off? I once waited for close to two hours waiting to take off during a New York storm. You can imagine the frustration when the pilot announced that we were number forty-seven, “if weather permitted”. We will preach on faith; wise biblical faith that knows it cannot force God’s hand to do anything, but faith that can move mountains and change things, big things. Stay tuned for details in the March bulletin.

• Faith for healing• Faith for the return of a prodigal; salvation of a spouse• Faith for a financial blessing• Faith for finding a godly spouse• Faith increased

We will call the church to fast on a given Sunday in March including a 6am morning prayer service. Don’t miss out!

LIFE GROUPS @ FTC Every FTC member is invited and strongly encouraged to belong to a Life Group. These weekly meetings are a place to believe, belong, share and worship together. They provide a deeper measure of intimacy and allow for friendship to be formed and developed.

Directors: Wendell & Tracy Wright

MEMBERSHIP

At FTC, membership has value. The difference between a member and an “attender” is commitment! Classes will be offered: January 26, 2014 (Q&A Room) at 8:30am and March, 2, 2014 (Room 206).

Who should attend? • Transferring members• Recently baptized• Those who have not completed the class

Directors: Roy & Evie Hernandez

Please join us for coffee and donuts beginning at 8:15am.

RESTORATION What happens when an FTC member sins? How do we receive and process people who have turned their backs on God, return to a life of sin, but then are prompted by the Holy Spirit to return to God. The church has a process of restoration through which members who have committed grave sins can be restored back to fellowship with God and with the church. Minister Ben Medina and the ministers who work with him always handle these cases with genuine love, utmost discretion and careful guidance.

tithes offering

The verse says it best: “money answers all things.” Every family, business, country, association, sports team and church needs it. I’m aware that I’m addressing a mature congregation that has heard yearly series on stewardship, giving and generosity. Part of the March faith series intends to build our faith in order to bless missions, the poor and the community - by faith.

Let’s keep finances simple. If every member would commit to returning their tithe (If he puts it in your hand, tithe it!) and, if every family would make an effort to bring at least a $10 offering every Sunday, we would have more than enough to sustain our budget and give to others in a substantial way.

10% of my income / $10 per week. It’s simple.

FINANCES“A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.” Ecclesiastes 10:19

“every family, $10 per week, 10% tithes...”

Page 20: 1st Quarter 2014

CONCLUSION

Finally, FTC - let’s keep it simple. This quarter I challenge you to pray as close as you can to an hour a day, fast one day week (Wednesdays, if possible) and share your story (evangelize) with unbelievers. If we all commit to those three simple steps, God will deepen us, bless us and use us! Here they are again:

1. Pray an hour a day2. Fast one day per week.3. Share your story with as many people as you can.

Looking forward to a wonderful 1st quarter of 2014!Pastor Sam Valverde
