Formally known as Long Buckby Nomads, the current club was re-formed after the war in 1945 due to the efforts of local hair-
dresser Bill Ward and others. There followed many successful seasons in the Rugby and District League and the Northants Foot-
ball Combination. Notable players during the fifties and sixties were Jack Osbourne, Pete Dexter, Dave Rainsford, Ray Worthing-
ton, Derrick Worthington, Cyril Worthington, Bill Dicks, Ray Timbs, Aubrey (flapper) Wilkes, Cracker Wilson, Roy Muscott, Bill
Tolley and many others. The club was ably led at the time by the likes of Alistair Bruce, John Partridge and Jack Osbourne. It
was also supported by probably the best supporters club at our level in the county, led by Doreen Timbs, Joyce Worthington
and Barbara Dicks, laying the sound financial foundation for the club to progress in later years. With numerous ground im-
provements on the Sports Field and the beginnings of a fledgling Sports and Social Club, the bucks gathered a strong enough
squad during the 1968/69 seasons to apply and be accepted into the United Counties Football League in 1969. Manager at the
time was Alan Rose who would lead the club to more honours in future years. Soon after entering the UCL he brought in Pete
Smith to replace himself as manager. Under Pete Smith the club won Division 3 in 1969-70 and then won Division 2 in 1970-71
but were refused promotion due to the facilities. But they won again in 1971-72 and this time were promoted, not into Division
1 but into the newly renamed Premier Division. Club President at the time was local business man George Taylor of Taylor and
KW Coaches. Club Secretary was Jock Morton and during that time the club extended their Sports and Social Club by building a
large concert room which was opened by the President’s wife Marie Taylor. During their promotion season to the Premier Divi-
sion the club also won the UCL Division 2 KO Cup, the Northants Junior Cup and the Daventry Charity Cup. Following Pete Smith
was former player Dave Conlon and then Alan Rose again followed by former Northampton Town player Roly Mills. Alan then
became manager of the Junior Teams, building a side which won many competitions including the Umbro Cup. ( a cup spon-
sored by Umbro which included teams for all over the country ay U16’s level ) Some of their games were played at Nottingham
Forest where one of his players Gary Mills went on to win a European Cup Medal. Others were Mick Kurilla who went onto Bir-
mingham City and Vince Overson who also Captained Birmingham City and Daryl White who went to Southampton. After Roly
Mills, Chris Beckett took over assisted by Mick Worthington and in the 1983-4 season the club were runners up to Kettering
Town in the Northants Senior Cup. The following season the Bucks were runners up in the League by one point to Arlesey Town
but won the UCL KO Cup beating Baldock Town 7-3 on aggregate. When Chris left Glenn Burdett was manager for two years.
Glenn was followed by our longest serving manager Mike Emms. In his nine years the Bucks only finished in the bottom half of
the table once. During this time the club moved to a new pitch after the Sportsfield obtained more land financed by the club
and the Rugby Club as well as help from the school and the District Council. Also under Mike Emms leadership a new 200 seat
stand was built as well as the playing area fenced and the floodlights refurbished and moved. After Mike Emms left, the Bucks
struggled at times to be a force in the UCL Prem and narrowly avoided relegation on several occasions. But managers since
Emms, Ashley Alexander, Steve Renshaw, Kev Simmonds, Geoff Green and Aidy Mann kept the club at its present status and
claimed some notable victories. In January 2007 with a new Chairman Guy Loveland on board, Glenn Botterill was appointed
manager who brought in former Rushden and Diamonds player Andy Peaks as his number 2. New players were brought in and
the Bucks again finished runners up in the UCL Premier Division in 2007-08. Botterill left in January 2009 and was replaced by
former Northampton Town player Adam Sandy who was assisted by Matt Murphy. The Bucks then won the Northants Senior
Cup beating Brackley Town 2-0. They then beat Northampton Town 3-2 in the NFA Premier Maunsell Cup in July 2009. Glenn
Botterill returned as manager in January 2010 this time assisted by senior player Matt Green, finishing third in the league and
reaching the last sixteen of the FA Vase. In 2010-11 another last sixteen in the FA Vase was achieved and also a fourth place
finish in the league. Season 2011-12 saw the bucks reach the third qualifying round of the FA Cup losing to Kidsgrove Athletic
and then beating the well supported King’s Lynn Town twice to finally win the UCL Premier Division Title. The club also won the
Baker Perkins FC UCL highest aggregate of goals trophy and Glenn Botterill won the UCL Manager of the season. After winning
the league the Chairman and Management team left the club. The next two seasons saw Scott Goodwin and then Phil Mason
keep us in the Premier League. Phil Mason then left and his assistant Dan Stewart was appointed first team manager. Unfortu-
nately he was unable to maintain our Premier League Status and was replaced as Manager by Richard Kay. Richard was re-
placed by Darren Foster in November 2017. Unfortunately due to work commitments Darren was unable to continue and Dan
Carter was appointed manager in July 2018. The club was well placed to get promoted back to Premier Division when season
19/20 was curtailed by Covid 19, so will once again will go and attempt promotion.
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to Jubilee Park for todays United Counties League, Division 1 fixture against title favourites Long Buckby.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dan Carter and his team along with the supporters who have made the trip from Northamptonshire. I hope you enjoy your brief stay with us here at Huntingdon.
Long Buckby come into this game with a 100% win record for the current season, and in doing so having only conceded 1 goal. Having come up against Dan on the pitch and found him to be a very competitive player I am sure his side will be no different. I have seen them play a few times now and have been very impressed with the style that they are playing their football in.
As a manager you always want to be pitting your wits against the best so I am very much looking forward to this encounter.
Our start to the season has been acceptable but no more than that. We are a new squad and will take time to gel, but there are already good partnerships beginning to blossom which is encouraging.
We are constantly reviewing our squad so players will come and others will leave. This week we said good-bye to Ben Arnold and Sarunas Snikas who have been good servants to the club over the past two season but have decided to move on due to a lack of first team opportunities. As a club we wish them luck for the fu-ture. Connor Pilbeam has also left the cub.
We have been busy ourselves, bringing in Marcio Martins and Corey Kingston. Corey I am sure will need no introduction having been at the club off and on for the past 3 years. Marcio joins us having previously been at West Ham and represented Portugal at under 17, 18, and 19 level. Both are tremendous additions to our squad.
I hope you enjoy the game
We fear no foe

Huntingdon Town Football Club were formed in 1995 following a move from the West Anglian League to the Cambs League. Prior to entry to the Cambs League Division 2B for the 1996-97 season, Town were known as Sun FC and originally began life back in 1980 as the Montagu which was formed by the current Secretary Russell Yezek. The committee decided that they wished to pro-gress in local football and choose to resurrect the then defunct name of Huntingdon Town. Progress was soon made both on & off the field. Behind the scenes the club is run on a very sound footing by a solid committee led by Chairman Hans Reif. On the playing front the appointment of Manager Andy Rossi, who’s wealth of experience on both the playing & Managerial side, led to a steady climb through the Cambs league. In 1998 “The Town” gained promotion from Division 2B into Division 1B. In the season 1999-2000 the club finished as winners of Division 1B as well as winning the Huntingdonshire FA Junior Cup for the first time. The following season saw more Cup success, retaining the Hunts Junior Cup, as well as runners up in the Hunts Scott Gatty Cup. The 2001-2002 season was also very successful winning the Scott Gatty Cup & also the Hunts Junior Cup for the third successive time. The club also finished runners up in the Cambs League Senior B Division and the Percy Oldham Cup that season. The Club moved to their new site at Jubilee Park in 2003 & this enabled work to be undertaken to provide the facilities necessary for the continued progression of the Club. The team moved to play in the UCL Division 1, having transferred from the Cambs league at the end of the 2002/2003 season. The first four seasons in the United Counties League were something of a learning curve for Town, reflected in their league positions of 17th, 14th, 12th & 14th respectively. The 2007-2008 saw the 1st Team finish 4th only missing out on promotion by goal difference & the Reserves win the Reserve Division 2 Title & win the Hunts Benevolent Cup. Huntingdon Town also run an Un-der 18 side in the Ridgeons Youth League. All three teams play their home games at the Clubs Jubilee Park ground on Kings Ripton Road, In July 2004 the new £37,000 floodlighting system was opened with a match against Peterborough United which attracted a near 1000 crowd.
The new £1.1 million Clubhouse was open for the 2009-2010 season with the only success on the field being the all conquering U18 team, winning the league, league Cup & County Cup.
T he 2011-2012 season started full of optimism, with a new Chairman at the helm & many new signings. Faith was kept with the Management pairing of Ricky Marheineke & Paul Swannell who guided Town to a credible 5th place in the 2010-2011 season after sitting 3rd from bottom when taking over in February 2011.
Optimism turned to joy with Town winning the United Counties League Division 1 Title, scoring over 100 goals in the process. Man-ager Ricky Marheineke won 2 Manager of the month awards. Town also reached the Semi – Final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup losing 3 – 0 to step 4 side St Neots Town. A new 50-seater stand was erected, with another planned by the end of the 2012–2013 season
The 2012-2013 season saw Town finish 4th in their first season in the Premier again scoring over 100 goals & reaching the Hunts Senior Cup Final drawing 0-0 with St Neots Town & losing on Penalties. The second 50 seat stand was erected
The 2013-2014 season saw Town finish runners up in the league again scoring over 100 goals. But won the league KO Cup & the prestigious Hinchingbrooke Cup both for the first time
The 2014-2015 season saw Town just staved off relegation, the club started the 2015-2016 season in turmoil. Doug McIlwain was bought in as Chairman to steady the ship & move the club forward. Rebuilding came with a price, losing both the Reserve & U18 team by the end of the season.
Although Town finish bottom of the league for the first time in their history, due to circumstances held on to their position in the UCL Premier Division, so the 2016-2017 season starts on a more positive note with Bob Warby as Manager & Mark Forrest as his assistant full of optimism
The 2016-2017 season saw Town bottom of the league for the second year running, but this time were relegated to Division 1. James Brattan & Ryan Hunnings were appointed joint Managers. Bob Warby has taking the role of Sporting Director to look to de-velop the Club to gain more Teams. Starting this season with the formation of an U18 team
The 2017-2018 Season saw Town finish a credible 12th in Division 1 & reach the Final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup
The 2018-19 started very badly for Huntingdon and a managerial change was made 10 games in bringing Jimmy Brattan back into the club unfortunately yet again the club finished 3rd from bottom
2019-20 saw more of the same as the club struggled to settle down and find the right manager / player combination. Off the pitch massive investments were made to improve the pitch and other facilities at Jubilee Park. On the pitch the season that didn’t hap-pen by the time of lockdown the 1st team were second from bottom with a new management team and almost new squad ready for the last 8 games that never happened. So, we head into a new season looking forward to a FULL season under new manager Laurence Revell
