1(onsufacfo Panfaliat ng Pifipinas Co nsufate qenera{ of tfie Pfiifippines New York ADVISORY Re: Professional Regulatory Commission Resolution No. 2012-673 on the Conduct of Medical Missions The public is informed that the Philippine Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) issued Resolution No . 2012-673 s. 2012 SUSPENDING the effectivi ty of Section 5 and Section 17 of PRC Resolution No. 2012-668 series of 2012 entitled the "Guidelines in Implementing Section 7, Paragraphs (J), (L) and Section 16 of Republic Act NBo. 8981 called the PRC Modernization Act of 2000, and the Pertinent Provision of the Professional Regulatory Laws, the General Agreement on Trade in Services and Other International Agreements on the Practice of Foreign Professionals in the Ph ilippines", with Respect to subsection E, section 2 Therefor. The two sections suspended under Resolution No. 2012-673 cover ( 1) the increase in payment of the processing fee and fee for the issuance of a Special Temporary Permit and (2) the need for liability insurance for medical missions. The suspension of these two provisions was made in recognition of representations by local and overseas stakeholders on the adverse impact of the new regulations on the number of medical-humanitarian missions being conducted in the Ph ilippines to underserved or marginalized communities. Medical or humanitarian groups who are planning to undertake medical missions in the Ph ilippines are advised to refer to guidelines set under Joint Administrative Order No . 0030 series of 2009.
