this past Monday to discuss the June close out of our 2018-19 Fiscal Year. Our parish financial position is very stable and healthy due to the incredible generosity of our parishioners. The Finance Council will be printing the financial statement with a cover letter in the Bulletin at the end of August. Please review it carefully. Our Senior Advisory Group (S.A.G.) continues its complimentary work with the Finance Council by monitoring the efforts of our past Stewardship Process and the month-by-month donation patterns. Blessings to everyone for your wonderful stewardship of time, talent and treasure.

*Thanks to Deacon Freddie Mireles of St. Joseph’s Parish – Honey Creek who helped us lead the Wake Service and Rosary for the funeral of our parishioner, Blanca Esquivel, on Saturday at the Holt & Holt Funeral Home. Thanks also to Pablo Vargas and the Spanish ACTS Choir that provided music and song for the service to help celebrate the life of Blanca. Our condolences to her family and friends here in Boerne. Her body will be flown back to her home town in Guatemala. God’s peace.

*Three members of our parish, Jamie Pontillo, Ashlie D’Spain and Tiffany Boerner attended a “Blessed is She” retreat in Houston to determine if it would be something St. Peter’s Parish would want to sponsor and promote in the future. Initial reports are that the retreat was excellent and would help promote the spiritual life of the women of our community. They will meet with Fr. Norman later this month to report their experience and brainstorm bringing the retreat here in the future. We will keep you updated.

Celebrating St. Jane Frances de Chantal

Sometimes life isn't about the path we take, but what we make of it. St. Jane Frances de Chantal's life was anything but predictable. Jane was married young to a husband in deep debt. She took charge of the estate, bringing the finances under control with enough to offer generously to those in need. When Jane was 28, her husband was killed in a hunting accident, leaving her the sole caretaker of their four young children. A sermon by her local bishop, St. Francis de Sales, led her to forgive the man responsible for her husband's death. Jane had a special concern for those affected by the unexpected. In 1610, Francis helped Jane found the Visitation Order of religious sisters, which became involved in active ministry to the sick and poor and in accepting women who had been rejected by other religious orders due to age or health. Ages: Kindergarten through 5th grade

Opportunity within the Sunday Mass for children (K- 5th grade) to hear Sunday readings at their own level in order to develop a love for Scripture, Mass and to deepen their relationship with the Lord. Children are called forth at the beginning of Mass and dismissed to the Day Chapel. They do not have to register to attend.

Parents: If your child needs assistance or special attention, please feel free to attend with them. Children younger than 5 years must be accompanied by a parent. We try to maintain a respectful environment as this is an extension of Mass and strive for all the children in attendance to be welcomed and engaged in listening to the Word.

Adult Confirmation A number of Catholics missed out on the preparation for Confirmation as teenagers, or have perhaps been away from Church and are now being drawn to a fuller, deeper relationship with God through their faith. If you are an adult Catholic who has been baptized Catholic and received First Communion, but has not received the Sacrament of Confirmation, we invite you to contact Diane Sowell and set up an appointment to discuss our upcoming preparation sessions and register.

A new class in English to prepare adults to receive the sacrament of Confirmation is beginning Tuesday, September 10th, in the Family Life Center from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. There will be 12 Tuesday evening sessions, with the last session meeting on Tuesday, December 2nd. Participants will have the option of receiving the sacrament at an Archdiocesan Confirmation Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on December 14th or the Confirmation Mass here at St. Peter’s in the spring. The fee for the program is $25.00.

Anyone interested in Adult Confirmation preparation in English is invited to call Diane Sowell at the parish office to get more information or register. You can also pick up a registration form in the parish office during regular business hours.

participants in Fall 2018. Coordinating with Laura Balderrama-Contreras, Mary Ann Matteson, along with a few other organizations, have participated in the roll out of online childcare requests for meetings.

Addressing communications, Mary Ann Matteson, Coordinator of Bible Studies, is now an administrator for the AFF Flocknotes group and subgroups, allowing for direct communication with participants. In addition, she has been working with the Communications Coordinator to share more AFF content and issues of interest on social media.
