The local support to a club in an area such as Wye River is of such importanceand on behalf of the committee I would like to thank the following groups for

there support.the Fire Brigade, Progress Association, the Wye River Hotel and WyeRiver store.

There are two supporters to the club that must get a thank you for theirsupport they are Babgee Oil - W Levick forrhe supply of fuel over the pastseasons and Thwaites Bread for the supply of bread for all our BBQ's.

Finally I must thank the hard work of the committee this year especially theexecutive committee, Peter Gardner, Martin Geerings, Tony Shannon, Rick Kehoe,Greg Kelly. The attendance at meetings of all the committee and their inputduring the season has made the 1'011of president a lot easier.During the reporthave not singled out any indervigal efforts by club members as I think thisseason the whole club has worked together to have a most successful season.I must congratulate Greg Kelly for winning the Roy Gilbert trophy and DonaldPentz the] J Morrisey, trophy both members did a lot of work for the club inall areas this season.

The last people to thank is my family who allow me the time away from themto be involved in life saving, to them I say thankyou for allowing this.

Hopefully we will see you all at Wye this season

    SECRE'fARYS REPORT

The 91-92 season was a most successful one for our club.

An increased membership, more involvement in competition and a greaterenthusiasm towards fund-raising has resulted in a stronger more efficient dubwith a healthy bank balance.

These things do not come as a result of individual efforts but moreover anoverall effort by everyone involved, from the hard working committee through alllevels of membership.

Our primary duty is to patrol, and with the increased membership the patrolrosters have swollen to a very healthy level relieving some of the burden fromthose who have carried it for so long.

It has been too long since the loudspeakers blared the name "WYE RIVER' inannouncing placing's at surf camivals, this year it has become common place. Theclub has gained several pennants and many placing's at carnivals with renewedinterest in competition.

Fund-raising is a most important area within the club, without it we cease toexist.BBQ's, Gray Raffles, Chocolate Drives, Tin Rattles, Wing Dings, Beer Nights,Spit Roasts, Pancake Days to name a few have all been run by the same peopleyear in year out.A few new faces are now emerging on the social fund-raisingfront which is encouraging.Once again taking the burden off those who havegiven for so long.

During the year negotiations continue with the shire in regard to theBunkhouse. We are finally seeing the light at end of the tunnel in this matter anda substantial amount of our resources have been earmarked for improvements inthis area.

The success of the past season on and off the beach, makes it even moreimportant for all of us to renew our commitment to the club to ensure itsfuture growth.

    Tony Shannon.

    CLUB CAIYfAINS REPORT 91 - 92

My aim at the start of the year was to strengthen the clubs patrol activities andensure that our beach was safely patrolled. Thanks to the big effort from ourolder members and the huge influx of new ones, this aim was met andexceeded. From my point of view it was one of the most successful seasons thatthe club has enjoyed for many years. Our patrols were carried out with efficiencyand dedication effecting fifteen rescues, nine serious first aid cases were treatedand a large number of minor cuts and scrapes were attended to.

The club continued to grow in many areas and this years committee were veryenergetic in building on the work of previous years. Our fund-raising and socialevents exceeded all expectations and it was gratifying to see the support bothfrom both club members and the public.thanks to Robyn and martin for all theirwork in these areas. Special thanks to the Nolan clan and friends for their fund-raising day, such support is greatly appreciated by active members.

Another area enjoying continued success were our competitors who won atcarnivals all through the year and went on to win medals at the state titles. Itwas good to see our club colours on the beach again this year. On that I wouldlike to thank Shane O'Brien for his efforts in obtaining the new clubwindcheaters and shirts.

Congratulations to all the dub champions a fine competition was seen this yearwith some crowd pleasing finishes

Finally thankyou to all the committee and members for your support and workthrough the year. The job of captain was made a great deal easier by the largenumber of people who contributed to the club during the seasonJ feel that ifwe continue at our present level of membership and commitment: the club willexperience many seasons as enjoyable and successful as the past one.

    CHIEF INSTRUCTORS REPOHT1991 - 92

In October last year the club was looking at having only ,~r) active members andtherefore down the barrel of a very long and hard season. On.c of thecommittee's main objectives was to increase the level of 3.Uiv(: me.rnbership withan injection of new blood. David Burke had at this stage aJn:8.dy recruited anumber of interested students from his school and this squad was trainingregularly in Melbourne. A request was put out via the Pipeline for members toattract relatives and friends into the ranks. Shortly after this Daniel Kiag recruiter'an eager bunch of friends and they also started training in Melbourne.

The committee also decided to run a bronze camp in early December, Noticesrelating to this were posted in Colae and one or two schools in Gee-long.Unfortunately, a poor response to these notices meant the camp had to becancelled. Hopefully we will be able to run a bronze camp successfully next .

year as I believe that this "one-week-intensive" style of training l.s the way to go.

    Greg Kelly

The influx of the two Melbourne based squads into our ranks, combined withthe regular Christmas squads and the return of a few old members, meant thatour active membership sored to sixty with in a couple of months,

Obviously this transformation in the size of the clubs membership took a lot ofwork and I would like to thank all those people involved for their help.Unpleasant weather and surf conditions made the task of training exceptionallydifficult. Special thanks must go to Robyn Madsen, Daniel Kiag, David Burke,Emma Nolan for making my job a Jot easier and to the committee for theirsupport.

Its important now that we as a Club, work together at keeping our membershipon the increase. How we go about this is something I would like all membersto think about over the winter break
