Welcome members, alumni, friends and supporters of HSMAI. What a joyous occasion to come together and celebrate 50 FABULOUS YEARS as a chapter in Arizona!

As I reflect on my time as a member of this chapter, I’m flooded with memories of all the exceptional leaders and mentors that have contributed to my growth and development. It is truly an honor to represent these industry executives and the daily impact they make both professionally and personally. Thank you all for countless hours of service and dedication and setting the standard in hospitality.

Although my time as President and my 7 years of membership only make up a fraction of the 50 years of this great organization, I am so grateful to have been a part. I look forward to continuing my involvement and being counted among the leaders that keep this chapter strong and thriving.

WHO WE AREInternational: The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) is a global organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. Founded in 1927, HSMAI is comprised of nearly 7,000 members from 35 countries and chapters worldwide.

Arizona Chapter: The Arizona Chapter was established in 1968 and is the third largest chapter in the U.S. HSMAI has been honored with numerous international and local awards and was recognized as the 2015-16 Chapter of the Year. The chapter offers members a variety of benefits including monthly education programs, networking and fundraising events and community service volunteer opportunities.The chapter membership represents hotels, resorts, transportation companies, entertainment companies, restaurants, destination management companies, meeting planners, airlines, golf facilities, audio visual companies, trade show services, tourist attractions, convention bureaus, equipment rental companies and more.

HSMAI Chapters play a key role in the success of the association! Well-managed chapters connect members, partners and community in a way that promotes member value and the HSMAI brand. In 1980 HSMAI instituted a Chapter Award Program to recognize those chapters that provide outstanding value to members. We have won over 60 Awards of Excellence from HSMAI International since 1988. HSMAI AZ has also won Chapter of the Year five times awards in our history.

HSMAI Arizona Chapter by the Numbers: +HSMAI AZ has helped numerous charities around the Valley of the Sun including SNIFF AZ/Arizona Pet Project, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Kitchen on the Street, Children’s Angel Foundation/Hacienda Healthcare, Shriner’s Hospitals, Crisis Nursery, DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), and Horses Help and more. +Our chapter has raised over $30,000 in donations and funds for charities around the valley of the sun over the years. +HSMAI AZ Chinese Auction is 36 years old – we invented the concept of this award- winning event and it has been used by most chapters and other industry associations. +HSMAI AZ has conducted over 300+ Hospitality Related Educational Sessions throughout the years. +HSMAI Arizona has worked with many of the hospitality schools, colleges and universities throughout Arizona including NAU, ASU, GCU, SCC, etc. +We have conducted educational meetings, social events, board meetings and gatherings at over 500 unique hotels, venues throughout the valley. +Our leaders have won individual awards of recognition including the Mike Leven Global Leadership Award in 2017 (to Erik Dorr)+We have over 40 Certified Professionals in the areas of Sales, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Revenue Management and Meeting Planning. +We have won numerous industry awards outside of HSMAI such as AzLTA “Stars of the Industry” awards and AzSAE “Awards of Excellence in Association Management”+Our Executive Director is celebrating 24 years with HSMAI AZ
