Investing in CommunitiesTransAlta energizes communities by supporting programs and initiatives that keep them strong. In 2014, TransAlta donated over $3.9 million to communities, including almost $2 million to local United Way chapters. Other organizations we support are Light Up the World, the Calgary Stampede, The Young Canadians, Mother Earth’s Children’s Charter School and the Washington State Salvation Army.
Today, we have relationships with over 40 Aboriginal groups across Canada. We sponsor Aboriginal career fairs, support cultural and literacy programs, and sponsor community events. We also provide coaching and mentoring to Aboriginal contractors and scholarships to Aboriginal students.
