Does this sound familiar to you?...

It was the first morning of the school holidays and my 5 year old decided

to crack a tantrum because I wouldn’t let her get her own way. It had

been a big term for both of us and we were both tired. This tantrum went

on for quite a while and nothing seemed to work. I thought to myself this

is going to be a long holiday….. After a while, I patiently said to Lily “I

think we need to pray to God for help”. All of a sudden, Lily stopped

crying and yelling, looked at me and then this calmness came over her.

Lily came over to me and climbed up onto my lap and we prayed

together. And it worked!!

God wants an intimate relationship with us even more than we want it with

him. He is always eager for us to pour our hearts out to him in prayer. He

knows our secrets anyway, but when we trust him with our innermost hurts

and longings, he responds with his healing love, giving comfort and

understanding.

I encourage you to seek Jesus for yourself. Pursue him with all your heart,

because He is the greatest gift of all.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all

circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ

Jesus.

gutters and roller doors installed during the holidays. The concreting for the floors is expected to be completed later this week.

Thank you to our Groundsman, Darren Zimmermann, and to parents Matthew Hutchinson, Sam Lloyd, Mark Rudiger and Geoff Flight for their expertise, assistance and use of equipment to enable the construction to be finalised.

Tree Removal from Quadrangle

Unfortunately the decision to remove the plane tree nearest the administration building in the quadrangle, had to be made. The roots were causing the asphalt to lift and breakup, creating an uneven surface which was becoming an OH&S risk. Added to this, the roots were also interfering with the underground ITC cabling from the administration building to the Resource Centre and rest of the school.

The tree was removed during the second week of the holidays. Many thanks to Darren Zimmermann and Martin Borgas for successfully completing the task.

The Grounds and Maintenance Committee is now considering the best way to repair the asphalt.

This year’s Continental is now not far away. Once again, all members of the school community are encouraged to assist when approached to do so. As well as being our major fund-raising event for the year, it is also a great community-building activity that draws together the families from across the school to work on a single activity.

We thank you for your support.

Yours in Christ,

Terry Sawade

Dear Parents,

I take this opportunity to welcome you back to the final term of the school year. Although short in time (only 9 weeks), it promises to be packed with activity and busyness.

ELC Director

ELC Director, Rachel Hentschke, will be taking leave for the entire 2017 school year. A replacement for Rachel is currently being sought and hopefully her replacement for next year will be announced in the not too distant future.

Change to Summer Uniform

Parents are, once again, reminded that the commencement of Term 4 brings with it a change from winter to summer uniform.

Sports uniform will still be worn on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week, with the formal (summer) uniform worn on Wednesday and Friday.

You may find that in the two terms since the summer uniform was last worn that your child has grown out of their existing uniform and that you may need to purchase another.

The school uniform shop is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2.30pm to 3.00pm. Parents unable to be at school at those times may choose to complete order forms and forward these to the front office. These can be downloaded from the school website or Skoolbag App. Payment is to accompany the orders, then these will be processed and the ordered garments sent home via the child.

ELC News By Rachel Hentschke

Welcome to Term 4!

Please return portfolios ASAP.

This term, we are doing some more work to our outside area; bamboo panelling and a tunnel or teepees (we will consult with the children and see

what they decide).

We have received notification that our licensing and registration visit will happen this term. Assessors will spend a day or two at the ELC, learning about how we run the ELC and provide a positive learning environment for the children in our care.

This term, we are looking forward to cooking with vegetables from our garden, being outside in the sunshine and preparing for Christmas. We will be learning all about the lead-up to and events of Jesus' birth.

Thank you to Rhaine Hondow for bringing in the fire truck to show the children. It was an ELC highlight! Thank you to Angela Rollins and Karen Scholz for your donations/support.

If you were at the Loxton Show you may have seen our scarecrow. We received a Merit Award.

In 2017, I will be taking a year of leave from the ELC to spend more time with my girls, who are growing up so quickly. You will still see me around in a relief teaching capacity. I love the ELC and its children very much and I will miss the privilege of supporting them as they grow and learn each week. I am sure that the Director for next year (TBA) will move the ELC along in a positive direction and I wish them God's richest blessings.

I am looking forward to a busy, exciting term. If you have gifts or talents to add to our program, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Library & Choir News By Margaret Wormald

Scholastic Book Fair

A Scholastic Book Fair is being held this term, beginning on the Continental night. Brochures that will be sent home this week show just a few of the many items available.

Students will have a chance to look at the items in the Book Fair during class library visits. If, as a parent, you are unable to attend the Fair but would still like to purchase items, students can complete a “Wish List” and credit card purchases can be made by following the instructions on the brochure and returning the form to the school.

This is a great opportunity to

stock up on Christmas presents

indulge your children

encourage them to become enthusiastic readers!

Every purchase benefits the school.

Dates: Friday 28th October (at Continental) - Thursday 3rd November

Time: Monday– Wednesday 8.30am-4pm, Thursday 8.30-9.30

Place: Library

Continental night: The Book Fair will be in the LLS Library—do check it out!

Book Clubs

Because of the Scholastic Book Fair, the current brochures for Scholastic Book Club will not be sent home. However, if you are interested in having a look at these, you can collect copies from the front office or the library.

Due date for all orders: Monday October 24th

Former Students Library

The Former Students Library began in 1997, at the suggestion of a past parent. Under this scheme, the Year 7 students of our school are given the opportunity to donate a book to the school library. These books are a reminder to the remaining students, of the Year 7s’ time at the school and the contribution they have made.

The books have a label inside the front cover to say who donated the book and are also marked with a gold sticker for easy identification, as belonging to the Former Students Library. The books are usually presented by the Year 7s to the student body at an assembly near the end of the year.

They are also a greatly appreciated addition to the library and books donated by past students are often sought out by current students. Parents and carers of Year 7 students will receive more detailed information this week.
