The suburb of Newcomb was entered incorrectly - there was no such suburb in the 1800sFor that period it should be Queenscliff Road or East Geelong or Geelong East [Queenscliff Road was regularly used to identify this area]
The address of this family is Ormond Road (1903 Electoral Roll). The ‘G’ in G E BECKWORTH seems to be a slipped ‘E’ and she has written the ‘E’ again, there is no evidence of a person with the name G E BECKWORTHElizabeth BECKWORTH signed above her daughter (see Page 524 Line 23) - Annie Victoria EMBERSON nee BECKWORTH in 1891Elizabeth BECKWORTH was living at 314 Myers St Geelong in 1914Children: Hannah BECKWORTH b Lanc abt 1862 d 1870 aged 8Eliza BECKWORTH b Lanc abt 1864 d 1866 aged 2William Lee BECKWORTH b Lanc abt 1866 d 1869 aged 3Frederick Samuel BECKWORTH b 1868 GeelongFlorence BECKWORTH b 1869 GeelongAnnie Victoria BECKWORTH b 1871 GeelongMary Elizabeth BECKWORTH b 1872 GeelongLouise BECKWORTH b 1874 GeelongGeorge Oliver b 1877 GeelongHerbert Henry BECKWORTH b 1878 GeelongSpouse: William BECKWORTH died 1899 Geelong aged 62 bur Geel East 4 Dec Meto K/1

In 1853 Fletcher BRIGGS married his first wife Lucy who died 19 Nov 1864. She is buried in an unmarked grave at Geelong cemetery (METO X X). They arrived as assisted immigrants on the Statesman in Oct 1853.In 1864 Fletcher married his cousin Emma Long. Her infant daughter died at two days in 1866 and Emma aged 18 also died that year.
He then married her sister Elizabeth and they had ten children born Geelong from 1868 to 1887.Cemetery records give Elizabeth's age at death as 78 but she must have been at least 82. No birth record has been located for Elizabeth but two brothers were born1854 and 1857 Geelong. Fletcher died in 1916 and is buried with both wives and an infant son.
From Model Borough [Gladys Seaton] 'Earlier this century [20th] and late in the last Briggs brothers [Fletcher and James] had a vegetable garden between Percy and Fyans Sts with frontage to Pakington st. On the west it ran back to Ryan's old sandpit where the council yard is now [yard was in Percy St].A specially designed horse lorry was used for the door-to-door rounds three times a week'.
James Briggs [d 1921 aged 87] was also married to an Elizabeth [d 1911 aged 86]. Neither family was located in Virginia St about 1892 but Fletcher was listed in Pakington St and James was in Percy St around that time and was still there in 1903. By then Fletcher was living in Marshall St close to their market garden.

There are two possibilities for this entry -
Hannah (WEBBLEY) BROWN, wife of William is the least likely - she died in June 1891 so it is borderline if she was alive to sign the petition in 1891. At the time of her death her address was given as Brougham Place, Geelong - she also owned this property, so this is definitely the least likely match.
The most likely is Hannah BROWN, unrelated? A William BROWN appears in rate books for Clarendon Street as does the second Hannah who is also in Clarendon Street in 1903 Electoral Roll.
No birth, marriage or death details have been found for the second Hannah BROWN

This entry could be one of a number of women. The initial is unclear; it may be B or it may be something else.
The entry appears to be in the same hand as the following entry No 24, but I could find no link between BUCKLAND, PETERS or PERRY. BUCKLAND may be a maiden name but I couldn’t find any female initial B in the right time frame.BUCKLAND may be a married name but I couldn’t find a Miss B. anything marrying a Mr BUCKLAND in the right time frame.
The initial could be M.There are two women with the surname BUCKLAND, both with the initial M, buried in Geelong who would have been of the right age.
