WORKSHOP I • DENTAL IDENTIFICATION AND MULTIPLEFATALITY INCIDENT MANAGEMENTThis two-day workshop combines instruction and hands-onexperience in the areas of forensic dental photography, forensicdental radiography, forensic comparisons of antemortem andpostmortem evidence, andmass disastermanagement. Included arebackground and use of the dental identification software programWinID3 and the integration of digital dental radiography with thissoftware. The workshop leaders are Bryan Chrz, DDS & BruceSchrader, DDS.

WORKSHOP II • BITE MARK MANAGEMENTThe Bite Mark Management workshop includes lectures andhands-on experience in evidence collection (photography, DNAswabbing, pattern and 3-D information collection, etc); evidenceanalysis (overlays,microscopy, etc); and evidence presentation (reportwriting, courtroom displays, etc). Participants will learn toproduce, evaluate, and defend bite mark data. Greg Golden, DDS ofSan Bernardino County, California and Frank Wright, DMD of Cincin-nati, Ohio will lead this workshop.

WORKSHOP III • ABUSE OF CHILDREN, ADULTS, ANDTHE ELDERLYThis half-day workshop gives the participant crucial information forpreparing to deal with the responsibilities of forensic dentists inrecognizing, reporting, and intervening in cases of abuse. Backgroundinformation, statistics, case reports, and technique instructionswill aidattendees in developing strategies to return to their communities andmake a positive impact. The goal is to reduce the level andseverity of abuse and to impede the activities of abusers. John Mc-Dowell, DDS, DABFO of the University of Colorado School of Dentistryand Omalola Adetona, BDS, of the Pediatric Dentistry Department atUTHSCSA lead this workshop.

WORKSHOP IV • EXPERT WITNESS TESTIMONYInstruction and information related to expert witness testimonywill befollowed by hands-on experience. Participantswill study a forensic caseand somewill be examined and cross-examined by attorneys in a court-room before a judge. The workshop leaders are Robert Barsley, DDS,JD & Michael D. Bernard, JD, Roger D. Metcalf, DDS, and TonyRoberts, JD.

WORKSHOP V • FORENSIC AUTOPSYParticipants will observe forensic autopsy cases. The supervisingpathologist will explain and demonstrate the procedure fordetermining cause, mechanism, andmanner of death. The workshopleaders are Randall E. Frost, MD, Chief Medical Examiner, BexarCounty, Texas & Kimberly Molina, MD, Deputy Chief Medical Exam-iner, Bexar County, Texas.

WORKSHOP VI • AGE ESTIMATIONFollowing background information on different methods of estimatingage, this workshop will provide participants hands-on practice usingthe computer program UT-AGE in estimating age by determining thelevel of 3rd molar development. The workshop leaders are David R.Senn, DDS, Paula Brumit, DDS, & Joanne Ethier, DDS.

CONTINUUM REFUND POLICYIf you must cancel your registration, please notify the Office of Con-tinuing Dental Education as soon as you determine you are unableto attend so that a refund may be considered. Any cancellation made after June 2, 2008does not qualify for a refund. However, participants may choose toplace their tuition minus an administrative and direct cost fee as-sessment into a holding account for future use. “No Shows” will notqualify for refunds. DAVID R. SENN, DDS, SYMPOSIUM DIRECTORClinical Assistant Professor, University of Texas Health Science Centerat San Antonio. Dr. Senn is the Director of the Center for Education andResearch in Forensics, and Director of the Bexar County Forensic Den-tal Identification Team. He is Chief Forensic Odontologist for the BexarCounty Medical Examiner's Office and a member of DMORT Region VI.Dr. Senn is a Diplomate and President-Elect of the American Board ofForensic Odontology, a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sci-ences and a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology.

PAUL G. STIMSON, DDS, MS, SYMPOSIUM CO-DIRECTORProfessor (retired) UTDB Houston. Dr. Stimson is a Diplomate of theAmerican Board of Forensic Odontology and the American Board of OralPathology. Dr. Stimson is Past President and a founding member of theABFO. He has been a consultant in forensic odontology in Houston, Texasfor more than 30 years. He is a Fellow in the American Academy ofForensic Sciences and a member of the American Society of ForensicOdontology.

PAULA BRUMIT, DDS, SYMPOSIUM CO-DIRECTOR, has a private dental practice in Cedar Hill, Texas. She is an Adjunct Clinical Pro-fessor and Instructor for the Forensic Odontology Fellowship at UTH-SCSA and a Forensic Odontology Consultant for the Bexar CountyMedical Examiner's Office. She is a Diplomate of the American Board ofForensic Odontology, a Fellow and Program Chair of the Odontology sec-tion of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and a member ofthe American Society of Forensic Odontology.

ROBERT E. BARSLEY, DDS, JD, is a Professor at LSU School of Den-tistry and practices and teaches Forensic Odontology in New Orleans.Dr. Barsley is also an attorney and serves as a municipal judge in Pon-chatoula, LA. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sci-ences and serves as Vice-President. Dr. Barsley is a Diplomate andTreasurer of the American Board of Forensic Odontology.

BRYAN CHRZ, DDS, has a private dental practice in Perry, Oklahoma.He is on the staff of Perry Memorial Hospital and is a Dental Consultantto the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of State of Oklahoma. He is amember of DMORT Region VI and a Diplomate of the American Board ofForensic Odontology, a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sci-ences, and a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology.Dr. Chrz is a Past President of the ABFO.

RANDALL E. FROST, MD, is Chief Medical Examiner, Bexar County,Texas. He is a member of the College of American Pathologists, NationalAssociation of Medical Examiners, and the American Academy of Foren-sic Sciences.

GARON FOSTER, BA, MS, is the Forensic Scientist Supervisor for theSerology/DNA section of the Bexar County Criminal Investigation Labo-ratory.He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences,Southwestern Association of Forensic Science, and the Association ofForensic DNA Analysts and Administrators.

GREGORY S. GOLDEN, DDS, received his dental degree from the Uni-versity of Southern California and practices general dentistry in RanchoCucamonga, California. He is the Chief Odontologist for San BernardinoCounty. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sciencesand a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology.

JOHN D MCDOWELL, DDS, MS, is an Assistant Professor of oral med-icine, diagnosis and radiology at the University of Colorado School of Den-tistry. He was President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciencesin 2000-2001. Dr. McDowell is a Diplomate of the American Board ofForensic Odontology, a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sci-ences and a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology.

ROGER D. METCALF, DDS, is the Director of the Human IdentificationLab and Chief Forensic Odontologist for the Tarrant County Medical Ex-aminer's District in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a 2007 Fellow of the UTH-SCSA Forensic Odontology Fellowship and is currently attending LawSchool.

J. ROD MCCUTCHEON, BS, is the Chief Toxicologist for the BexarCounty Medical Examiner’s Office. He is a Diplomate of the AmericanBoard of Forensic Toxicology.

BRUCE A. SCHRADER, DDS, is in private dental practice in Austin,Texas. He is an Adjunct Clinical Professor and Instructor for the Foren-sic Odontology Fellowship at UTHSCSA and a Forensic Odontology Con-sultant for the Bexar County and Travis County Medical Examiner'sOffices. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciencesand is the Executive Director of the American Society of Forensic Odon-tology.

FRANKLIN D. WRIGHT, DMD, has a general dentistry practice in Cincin-nati, Ohio and is the forensic dental consultant for the Hamilton County(Cincinnati) Coroner’s Office and is a Chief of the Hamilton County Coro-ner’s Office Forensic Dental Team.
