Message fromthe Exalted Ruler

Brothers and Sisters, This is a melancholy time of the year in our Lodge as

we begin saying goodbye to our friends, Members and neighbors who return to their homes far away. We will miss you but know we’ll see you again next fall and winter. Travel safely.

My first month as your ER has passed swiftly and we are off to a fast start. Our top priority this year is increasing our membership. Last year we grew our

Lodge by 59 new members. At the same time, 51 of our members did not renew their membership and were dropped from our membership roster. We need to find ways to retain these great people and get them involved in all aspect of our Lodge. I welcome your ideas as does Maureen Gour our new Membership Chair. Please help us grow our membership once again. Our next priority is our infrastructure. I am pleased to report that the new Lodge Restoration and Long Range Planning committee met to discuss priorities for improving our Lounge and other parts of the Lodge to bring them up to date and make them more welcoming for members and guests. You are all welcome to participate as we develop our master plan. I think you will find the ideas we have come up with exciting. The committee decided to tackle removal of the wall between the “West Wing” and pool room as our first project followed closely by addressing some health and safety compliance issues in the dry storage pantry and food service area. More information will follow as these priorities and associated costs come into clear focus so you can decide to approve them at a Lodge meeting. Lastly, there is a lot going on in your Lodge in May starting with Spaghetti Night on May 4 and Derby Day on May 6. The Queen of Hearts still happens every Friday at the Lodge. The winner pool continues to grow so get involved in the excitement every Friday. Mike Rodriguez will cook chicken wings on May 18th and of course Spike and team will man the patio grill every Sunday and serve great hamburgers and hot dogs. Next month will be busy around the Lodge with Flag Day and our Memorial Golf Tournament so come on out and have some fun with your friends.

Thank you, Exalted Ruler Mike Sinneck

She worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had a good time and that the event generated a prot to support the Cystic Fibrosis Sunny Shores Camp. As a result, Country Western Night generated over $10,000 which was donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Angie is a can do Elk who exemplies the best in everything we do. From theSecretary’s Desk:

Armed Forces Day is celebrated the third Saturday of May. e United States honors the men and women of the military services. e Armed Forces Day Celebration combined the Army, Navy, and the Air Force in 1950. Prior to that year, they had been held at separate times. Hello Elks! It’s a new year for the Elks Lodge. Your membership cards should have arrived. If not, please let me know and I’ll assist you. We still have some delinquent Elks. is list will be posted on the bulletin board. Check the list to make sure your name isn’t there. If you know someone on that list, reach out to them to nd out why they haven’t sent in their dues. e Elks have an assistance program for lodge members that are having nancial hardships. We don’t want to lose you and we can help. Just ask the ER, a lodge ocer or myself how to get help. Maureen Gour is our new membership chairperson so she will be reaching out with her team to our delinquent members soon. e lock on the front door was changed May 1. You need the Green card to enter through the front door. e Florida state convention starts May 25 and our ER, Mike Sinneck, Board Chairman, Joe Altomare, Leading Knight Richard Snyder, DDGER Howard Greenstein and PER Wendy Hu will be attending. ey will be nding out the new objectives for the Harry Anna Trust, and meeting with our state lodge members to bring back some ideas for our lodge. As of March 31 we have 625 members with 20 candidates waiting to come into the lodge. Keep those applications coming in and show them what the Delray Elks Lodge can do to help our Community. Check the calendar for May and June events. Just because the “snowbirds” have le doesn’t mean we will put activities on hold. It should be a great summer at the lodge.

Fraternally,Patti M. Lydon, Secretary

Armed Forces Day!

Amendment 6House Rule #20Corrected the fee for Associate Member status to $10 to conform with Article X – Fees and Dues.
