Title: Academic Camp Supervisor (Summer Student Position) Status: Full time position Wage: Rate of pay will vary depending on experience Work Term: June 1 to August 31st, 2012 (Part-time hours available in April and May as Program Leader) Description: Trent Camps is looking for a responsible, enthusiastic and out-going Camp Supervisor for our busy Academic Camps this summer. The Camp Supervisor is to act as a leader and assist camp staff in providing participants with a fun and educational camp experience. The Camp Supervisor will provide guidance and support for all camp staff and maintain a positive relationship with staff, parents and campers. .

Responsibilities: • Active involvement in the operation and delivery of the camp programs • Assist with planning and implement camp programs • Ensure all inventories are maintained • Assist with training, weekly staff meetings and supervising staff with guidance of the Academic Camp

Coordinator or Conference Director • Assist with responding to parent questions and concerns to ensure customer satisfaction • Assist with registering campers for summer day camps and maintain registration records • Create weekly newsletters and health reports • Prepare with the attendance lists and tracking attendance (sign in/sign out sheets) • Ensure programs run on schedule and all required supplies are purchased • Work with Academic Camp Coordinator to schedule staff • Act as back up person in the absence of the Camp Coordinator • Assist with preparing permission slips for outings, book outings and special events/guests for day camp • Review, complete and follow up on incident reports and report to Camp Coordinator/Conference Director • Learn and teach assigned camp curriculum and weekly camp themes as needed • Other duties as assigned

Required skills and knowledge: • High energy, self-starter • A keen interest and ability in science, music, computer video editing, creative writing • Experience teaching or working with children in a camp or school setting would be considered and asset • Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude • Strong communication and teamwork abilities • Strong computer skills, able to enter data accurately and efficiently

Other Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years experience with children ages 7 to 18 in a camp or educational setting • Experience supervising staff in a camp environment or related discipline preferred • Candidates with an educational background ie. Working towards B.Ed will be given preference • Candidates must be currently certified in First Aid/Level C CPR Certifications • Valid driver’s license an asset • Criminal Records Check • Candidates should be prepared for physical labour of lifting, moving (chairs/tables etc.) and lots of walking (very

active job)
