1. GLOBALG.A.P. AND TRAINING“The Global Partnership for Good Agricultural Practices”

GLOBALG.A.P. recognizes the global need for qualified GLOBALG.A.P. Training, which can be costefficient and customized for producers. The GLOBALG.A.P. Training offer shall serve as voluntaryfacilitation for the producer’s way to GLOBALG.A.P. Certification. There will be no officialrequirement for producers to show proof that a staff member or external adviser has attended aGLOBALG.A.P. Training Course.After first experience the GLOBALG.A.P. trainer qualification principle has been modified and is nowbased on two components:

• Centrally qualified individual trainers• Member organizations

GLOBALG.A.P. conducts Certification Body (CB) In-House Trainer (IHT) workshops including an examination for the approval of Train-the-Public-Trainers, to provide a limited but sufficient number of qualified trainers and registers them on the GLOBALG.A.P. Website if they comply with at least GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) version 5 Inspector requirements (see 5). Once qualified the trainer may conduct classroom-training courses (train-the-public) using GLOBALG.A.P. normative documents as published on the GLOBALG.A.P. Website.

2. SCOPE OF THIS DOCUMENTThis document explains the structure of becoming an approved GLOBALG.A.P. Train-the-PublicTrainer and the procedures that should be followed in order to obtain and maintain status as anapproved trainer. It details the duties and rights of the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat and trainersapplying for public workshops.

This is a not a GLOBALG.A.P. normative document, but only explains the rules and instructions toapplicant and already approved trainers.

3. OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN APPROVED TRAINER STATUS3.1 Procedures

3.1.1 The applicant trainer must have attended the CB IHT workshop of the respective scope and must have passed the sub-scope specific examination to become an official GLOBALG.A.P. Train-the-Public Trainer. After successful completion of the IHT training, the trainer needs to send the following information to the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat for approval:

(i) The completed and signed GLOBALG.A.P. Inspector/Auditor Checklist togetherwith appropriate proof (copies of certificates or other documents that proof thequalifications mentioned on the trainer checklist; these copies need to benumbered as listed in the checklist under “Reference to appendix No.”). Thechecklist is available in the CB Extranet and on request directly from theGLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat.

(ii) The GLOBALG.A.P. Trainer Registration Agreement, which includesinformation of the membership status of the associated organization andscopes and sub-scopes the trainer wishes to register for. The agreement isavailable on request directly from the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat. (Refer toAnnex 2).

(iii) Updated contact details and the status of the trainer within the associatedorganization.

3.1.2 A prerequisite to become approved Train-the-Public Trainer is that the organization the trainer is affiliated to must be a member CB of GLOBALG.A.P. and that the annual membership fee has been settled (see member fees according to the latest GLOBALG.A.P. Fee Table).

3.1.3 GLOBALG.A.P. approved Train-the-Public Trainers have to organize training sessions themselves and training material must at least cover the current General Regulations and Compliance Criteria and Control Points of the specific sub-scope as available on the GLOBALG.A.P. Website.

3.1.4 Approved Train-the-Public Trainers may offer an exam, but the development and correction thereof are the responsibility of the trainer.

3.1.5 The training material and possible exam has to be shared with the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat on demand before the first train-the-public workshop may be organized on.

3.1.6 Certificates issued by approved Train-the-Public Trainers to participants must comply with requirements. Refer to Appendix 2 and Annex 6 for the information that is required on the certificate.

3.1.7 Participants must fill out evaluation forms. A generic example is available on the website (refer to Annex 4). NOTE: Approved Train-the-Public Trainers will only appear on the GLOBALG.A.P.

Website once the trainer complies with all the requirements and has signed the

GLOBALG.A.P. Trainer Registration Agreement.

3.1.8 The member CB has to update contact details of the Train-the-Public Trainer and must inform the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat if the Train-the-Public Trainer left the member CB.

4. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS4.1 Train-the-Public Trainers

(i) Appearance on the GLOBALG.A.P. Website as an approved GLOBALG.A.P. Train-the-Public Trainer in the training section.

(ii) Use of GLOBALG.A.P. general presentations as available will be provided uponrequest from the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat.

(iii) Train-the-Public Trainers can only train the public (i.e. any person interested tobecome more familiar with GLOBALG.A.P. and the interpretation thereof).

4.2 Trainees attending courses offered by a Train-the-Public Trainer (i) The trainee must be aware that the course is not a GLOBALG.A.P. approved course,

only that the Train-the-Public Trainer is a GLOBALG.A.P. approved IHT of a memberCB.

(ii) The course is not an auditor or internal inspector course.

(iii) The trainee can issue a complaint with GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat if the trainer is inviolation of regulations.

(iv) The trainee is not entitled to any privileges within GLOBALG.A.P.

4.3 GLOBALG.A.P. (i) GLOBALG.A.P. reserves the right to cancel a trainer registration on a discretionary

basis where for example complaints are received from members and other courseattendants and the Train-the-Public Trainer fails to disprove the allegations.

(ii) GLOBALG.A.P. reserves the right to use contents of the training material provided bythe Train-the-Public Trainer. The material must contain the name and contact details ofthe creator.

(iii) Disclaimer: All provided presentations, training materials or publications are theproperty of GLOBALG.A.P. c/o FoodPLUS GmbH. The GLOBALG.A.P. member, Train-the-Public Trainer or approved Certification Body may use it and its content in internaland external trainings in unaltered format. GLOBALG.A.P. does not assume anyresponsibility for the training carried out by third parties using this material.

5. APPENDIX 1: REQUIREMENTS FOR GLOBALG.A.P. TRAINERS

5.1 The applicant must comply with the following inspector requirements from the GLOBALG.A.P. General Regulations Part III: Annex III.1, Points 1., 2., 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3. OR with the following auditor requirements from the GLOBALG.A.P. General Regulations Part III: Annex III.2, Points 1., 2., 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3.

5.2 Organization Requirements: (i) The organization the applicant trainer is affiliated with must be a member of

GLOBALG.A.P. and must have settled the membership fee for the current year. Formore information on becoming a member, please visit the member section on theGLOBALG.A.P. Website (www.globalgap.org).

NOTE: If the applicant trainer works for an educational institute, government body or

accreditation body, this requirement is waived.

6. APPENDIX 2: CERTIFICATE CONTENTSThe certificate issued by a GLOBALG.A.P. Train-the-Public Trainer shall contain the following information:

6.1 Specific statement that course is based on GLOBALG.A.P. Documents, i.e. General Regulations and Control Points and Compliance Criteria.

6.2 Scope of Training (Crops – FV, CC, PPM, TE, FO; Livestock – CS, DY, CYB, PG, PY, TY; Aquaculture).

6.3 Version of the GLOBALG.A.P. Standard

6.4 Statement that Trainer is a “GLOBALG.A.P. approved Train-the-Public Trainer”.

6.5 Date the trainer passed the exam and scope of that exam (Crops – FV, CC, PPM, TE, FO; Livestock – CS, DY, CYB, PG, PY, TY; Aquaculture)

6.6 It may contain the GLOBALG.A.P. Logo.

8. ANNEX 2: GLOBALG.A.P. TRAINER REGISTRATION AGREEMENT

This agreement sets forth the rights and obligations of GLOBALG.A.P. as the GLOBALG.A.P. System coordinator and qualified and approved Train-the-Public Trainers for the relevant product scope allowed to conduct classroom-training courses (train-the-public) using GLOBALG.A.P. Documents and material. Training material for these public training courses will not be provided as printed matter by the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat and is the responsibility of the trainer.

Disclaimer: All provided presentations, training materials or publications are the property of GLOBALG.A.P. c/o FoodPLUS GmbH. The GLOBALG.A.P. member, Train-the-Public Trainer or approved Certification Body may use it and its content in internal and external trainings in unaltered format. GLOBALG.A.P. does not assume any responsibility for the training carried out by third parties using this material.

The trainer hereby registers as GLOBALG.A.P. approved Train-the-Public Trainer according to the GLOBALG.A.P. Inspector Qualifications as stipulated in the GLOBALG.A.P. Train-the-Public Trainer Rules (as updated from time to time), which form an integral part of this agreement.

The trainer also has taken note and agrees that GLOBALG.A.P. reserves the right to cancel a trainer registration on a discretionary basis, including, but not limited to instances in which complaints have been received from members and other course attendants and the trainer has failed to disprove the allegations within a reasonable period of time. The Train-the-Public Trainer shall be entitled to receive an explanation for the cancellation of his/her registration. He/She shall, however, have no right to appeal the cancellation decision.

The Train-the-Public Trainer shall inform the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat immediately about any changes that may affect this registration.

The Train-the-Public Trainer shall be liable to GLOBALG.A.P. for all direct or indirect damage to GLOBALG.A.P. or its contract partners that is caused willfully or negligently or as a result of infringing legal obligations and/or the contractual provisions of this agreement.

This agreement does not create an employment relationship and does not constitute a service agreement between the trainer and GLOBALG.A.P. It is governed exclusively by German law. The courts of Cologne, Germany, shall have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes arising out of or under this agreement.
