WELCOME

PRELUDE “All Nature Sings!” Smith

* CALL TO WORSHIP (ALL respond in bold print), from Isaiah 55 David Norton, Seminarian Here is the promise: the mountains and hills shall sing, and the trees clap their hands. But here is the thing: our ears must incline to the Lord, our hearts must call upon the Lord while the Lord is near. The wicked way cannot be our way. The unrighteous way cannot be ours either. It is ours to return to God so God may have mercy and may pardon abundantly!

* HYMN “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name” verses 1-4 UMH 79

OPENING PRAYER David Norton, Seminarian O God of grace and mercy, we come more eager to be spiritually fed than practically challenged. To hear our news, read our Facebook pages and tarry over tiresome tweets leaves us with a one word prayer, “ENOUGH!” We crave sanctuary. To bad news, we yearn to declare, “No more!” But the Prophets won’t let us. Neither will Jesus. Not when mountains and hills of song choke from fires your children set. Not when trees know not when to undress their limbs for fear the seasons may not change. And the rocks our Jesus claimed to sing his praise are crushed to pave our very own road to ruin. We hate to hear it, hate to say it, but we need to confess. Change us, Lord. And then forgive us. Chasten us. and then out us to doing, that in honoring Mother Earth, you Father God, will grant that our days shall be long upon the earth, even as you have promised. Amen

8:30am Anthem lyrics: “O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee”

O Master, let me walk with Thee in lowly paths of service free.

Tell me Thy secret, help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care.

Help me the slow of heart to move by some clear, winning word of love;

Teach me the wayward feet to stay and guide them in the homeward way.

Teach me Thy patience; still with Thee In closer, dearer company,

In work that keeps faith sweet and strong, in trust that triumphs over wrong.

In hope that sends a shining ray far down the future’s broad’ning way,

In peace that only Thou canst give, with Thee, O Master, let me live.

O Master, let me live with Thee.
