Company Background

eltherm South Africa (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of eltherm GmbH, a global heat tracing manufacturer and system design supplier that was founded in Burbach, Germany in 1991.

Pioneering work began immediately and within five years the company expanded into larger offices with a substantially bigger production hall. In 1999, a production line was set up to produce PTFE insulated heating cables.

The ongoing success in the market of eltherm’s self-regulating heating cables saw the company continue to expand, with production capacity extended to 5,000km of ELKM resistance heating cable and to 4,000m of ELSR self-regulating heating cable.

2010 saw the establishment of eltherm Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd in Singapore as headquarters for the Asia-Pacific region, and in the same year eltherm UK Ltd was set up in Berkshire to create a base in Great Britain. In 2011 the eltherm team celebrated its 20th anniversary and eltherm

GmbH separated into two independent companies: eltherm GmbH and eltherm Production GmbH.

In the following year eltherm Canada Inc. was set up in Toronto and eltherm (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. was established to create a presence in China. In 2013 the group was taken over by INDUS Holding AG.

In 2014, eltherm Rus Limited Liability was established in Korolev, Russia and eltherm South Africa (Pty) Ltd opened its doors in Sandton.

eltherm SA offers a highly competent team of engineers specialising in the design, development and installation of complete heat tracing systems for an extremely wide variety of applications across a multitude of industries.

Our engineered solutions have been applied in high-profile projects around the world.

Medupi Power Station eltherm products were installed in what is set to become the largest dry-cooled coal-fired power station in the world. eltherm GmbH supplied engineering solutions, ELSR, ELK-AG, control panels and supervised installation and commissioning through local channel business partners.

Singapore LNG Terminal eltherm Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd successfully provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the bottom heating of Singapore LNG Tanks (Tank 1, 2 & 3) on time and fully compliant with all health, safety, security and environmental regulations as well as within the quality requirements of the project.

A summary of the heat tracing and related products we offer:

Heating Cables and Heating TapesWhether pre-assembled or cut-to-length, our self-regulating heating cables, constant wattage heating cables and series cables/tapes are suitable for frost protection as well as for process temperatures up to 1,000°C.

Heated Mats and JacketsOur flexible heating mats and jackets are the tailor-made, optimum solution for individual heating requirements, offering a high level of effectiveness and heat distribution of up to 900°C.

Heated HosesWherever liquids or gasses have to be transported flexibly and without any loss in temperature, our heated hoses offer the perfect solution for temperatures up to 450°C.

Temperature Measurement and ControlWe produce and supply complete controlling systems for measuring, controlling and monitoring any electrical heat tracing application, thus ensuring trouble-free and economic operations.

Special Heating SystemsIn addition to our standard range of products, we also design, manufacture, supply and install complete heating systems according to the customer’s unique requirements.

Certifications

eltherm GmbH has subjected itself to a number of national and inter-national tests and certification procedures in order to confirm to clients the high quality demanded of eltherm trace heating systems, thereby ensuring safety.

We have been certified to quality management system DIN ISO 9001 for many years, which means we are able to ensure that our customers are offered checked materials, a seamless manufacturing process and top-quality products.

Our products for use in potentially explosive atmospheres are checked and approved in accordance with Directive 94/9/EC.

Because we operate worldwide and because our electrical heating systems are used in a very wide range of applications and areas, our products and trace heating systems are also checked and approved in accordance with many national and international directives and norms for an extremely broad spectrum of areas of application.

Peter Stone - Managing Director Zweli Dladla - Director

Who we are

As Managing Director of eltherm SA and with 20 years’ experience in business development in South Africa, Peter is focused on developing sustainable business in Africa by growing market share and enabling creative people to grow and add value, and in particular on developing new business and developing people. He is committed to creating wealth and optimising the potential of each individual in the company.

As Director of eltherm SA, Zweli holds a BCom from Wits University and an honours from the University of Johannesburg. After university, he joined Absa’s Commercial Property Finance division as a Financial Analyst. He also held a junior manager position at Macsteel South Africa. More recently, Zweli has been involved in numerous entrepreneurial ventures as a founder and developer. He is the co-founder of Asani Group and a director of numerous investee entities with the Asani Group stable.

As General Manager of eltherm SA, Giles initially trained as a mechanical engineer at UCT (University of Cape Town) and recently completed an MBA from Trinity College Dublin. Giles is committed to growing sustainable business in South Africa, through collaborative efforts with industry leaders and co-workers. He has experience working in the structural steel as well as heating technologies industries with particular knowledge of traditional and renewable power generation.

As Product Manager of eltherm SA and with seven years’ specialised sales experience in Heating and Control Systems, Dirk is committed to ensuring that client’s needs and requirements are met with exceptional service that also leads to aftermarket relations.

He focuses on developing new business and target markets to promote brand awareness in South Africa.
