INVITATION
Business Coaching International:
Dialogic Organization Development
and Organizational Coaching in an International Context.
International INOC Meeting

There is an effort started in Germany, to build the
INOC International Network for
Organizational Development and Coaching.
To prepare a kickoff meeting in 2016 we invite all colleagues and guest for a
preliminary meeting to Wiesloch close to Heidelberg.
The Meeting will cover three topics:

Vancouver, Canada, his co-authors as Dr. Joachim Schwendenwein, Austria,
Dr. Jacob Storch, Denmark, and Michael Roehrig, Germany (to be confirmed)
Organizational Coaching (OC) and Systemic Organization
Development (OD) Dr. Bernd Schmid, isb-Wiesloch, Germany
Enterprise Coaching and Business Project Coaching Gianfranco Goeta, Senior Member of the SCOA Institute Milan, Italy
The working language will be English. In addition to the 3 presentations, there
will be plenty of time in order to exchange experiences, prepare cooperations,
sharpen the INOC Concept and prepare next steps.
The Meeting starts May 29th, at 10.00, until 30th, at 17.00
Background Information about INOC:
There is an effort started in Germany, to build the INOC (International Network
for Organizational Development and Coaching). Indeed, a task force consisting of
dedicated colleagues (all of them DBVC members) is engaged in order to involve
colleagues based in other countries. These colleagues residing abroad are supposed to be
active in organization oriented coaching and consulting, or in people oriented
organization development. In addition to their own business, they should be prepared to
represent this orientation and to set up a professional community in their country.
It is obvious that in existing international coaching associations such a specialization is
missing just as it is the fact in associations of organization development. For this reason,
we believe this new approach to be useful to reach our goal. see INOC Mission & Vision

0/. Since a lot of clarifying dialogues are still required, we need time until May 2016 in
order to prepare the international kickoff meeting in Heidelberg.
Meeting in 2015 near Heidelberg for all interested German-speaking
people and foreign guests
The response to INOC from German-speaking countries is significant. We found the idea
challenging to meet exactly with those colleagues and some freeing guests for 2 days to
whom dialogical organization development, organizational coaching, and international
focus equally is at heart.
Especially for an international network, we need to join forces and develop common
characteristics of related approaches coming from different traditions and being
differently united in other countries. For all those, the Heidelberg meeting in 2015 is the
place to be.
This meeting is all about connecting organizational coaching with organization
development, experiences in international projects and strengthening international
cooperation. The meeting is organized by the isb-Wiesloch in cooperation with the DBVC.
This collegial meeting is provided at a cost-covering registration fee (no compensations).
The working language will be English. In addition to 3 presentations, there will be plenty
of time in order to exchange experiences and prepare cooperations. Also, we will use the
meeting for the recording of videos used for further INOC work.
Who is invited?
Invited are internal or external professionals dealing with Organization Development,
cultural development, coaching, and consulting. Apart from working with individuals
from organizations, they should have developed a clear orientation in the work with
organizations or seeking to do so; or they should as Organization Development experts
want to clearly align to the people involved; and they should be experienced in
international field. So we need in the first step pioneers and founders. You are welcome
to pass this invitation on to appropriate parties. The intention is to build a clearly
oriented but open network.
The Speakers and Presentations:
Dialogic Organization Development (DOD)
Gervase Bushe, Professor of Leadership and Organization Development, Vancouver,
Canada, can not definitely confirm the date of this meeting. However, his co-authors
as Dr. Joachim Schwendenwein, Austria, Dr. Jacob Storch, Denmark, and Michael
Roehrig, Germany are ready to represent the approach.
Since several years, a new direction of Organization Development is emerging in Canada
and the United States which is the DialogicOrganization Development (DOD). Unlike
the Diagnostic Organization Development, the Organization Development is defined as
the art of forming dialogic Organization Development processes by those responsible.
Within this approach, all known classical approaches can still be used, however, with a
different mindset. Thus, primarily it is a recast of Organization Development as dialogic
process. The theoretical positioning of this approach, the intellectual and historical
fundamentals, as well as the definitions of professionalism and practice will be described
in the book „Dialogic Organization Development: The Theory and Practice of
Transformational Change“ by Gervase R. Bushe & Robert J. Marshak, editors, to be
published in 2015. Extracts from this book can be found
at http://www.dialogicod.net/resources.html and http://www.dialogicod.net/book.html
This book attracts considerable respect in advance which can be found
at http://www.dialogicod.net/endorse.html. Thus, Ed Schein writes: ... "Dialogic
Organization Development (OD) could not have arrived at a better time. The assumptions
underlying it and some of the goals for social change and improvement that it articulates
are not only build on an important historical legacy but reinforce those aspects of OD that
will be most needed in the future."
Organizational Coaching (OC) and
Systemic Organization Development (OD)
Dr. Bernd Schmid, isb-Wiesloch, Germany
Published in 2014, the book „Systemic OD – Change and Organizational Culture build
together“, edited by Bernd Schmid, is written by isb-affiliated authors presenting an
understanding of Organization Development and coaching culture, an approach very
similar to the DOD. In addition to the description of systemic Organization Development
and cultural development, the book emphasizes the practical implementations, the
integrated Organization Development learning, and the strategic use of coaching. These
approaches are summarized, too, under the term of organizational coaching. You find
additional information in German in the Coaching Newsletter September 2014 and under

Enterprise Coaching and Business Project Coaching
Gianfranco Goeta, Senior Member of the SCOA Institute Milan, Italy

The SCOA training program is certified by the WABC (http://www.wabccoaches.com/)
and, thus, a connection to the worldwide established company for business coaching.
Gianfranco in his mail to us says: "In my perspective there is a third challenge to face, in
order to increase the effectiveness of interventions aiming at an improvement of the
organizational functioning and of individuals within organizations. This challenge consists
in deepening the understanding of the business factors affecting organizational change.
The link between individual and organization is not enough. The business dimension must
be added in order to comprehend all the critical variables having an impact on the whole
process."
