25 February 2022 Dear parent and carers RE: Aurora Orchestra performance at the Science Museum We are extremely fortunate to have been chosen to work with the Aurora Orchestra over the next three years as an Aurora Beacon School. The partnership will mean that students at Lister will have many opportunities to work with professional musicians in a variety of ways and on many different projects. The first project starts next week, and sees Year 9 students from Lister teaming up with the Aurora Orchestra and the Science Museum. Our students will be participating in workshops, the first of which takes place on Friday 25 th September during the school day, to compose new music for objects in the exhibitions at the Science Museum. We have space for up to 100 Year 9 students to visit the Science Museum for a very special live concert given by the Aurora Orchestra in and around different exhibits. Details of the visit are as follows: Event: Aurora Orchestra Concert Date: Monday 28 th September Location: Science Museum, Kensington Meeting point and time: Lister Community School 4.45pm Travelling to: Science Museum by private coach Returning to school 11pm Dress: School uniform Cost: £FREE Students should be in full school uniform – any students arriving to take part in the trip in non-school uniform will be sent home. The trip is entirely free of charge, with all costs covered by funding from the Aurora Orchestra. We expect students to return home after school to eat and drop off school bags, before returning to Lister to get the coach at 4.45pm. Students should only bring a small bag with a bottle of water and a snack if they so wish.

Dear parent and carers

RE: Aurora Orchestra performance at the Science Museum

We are extremely fortunate to have been chosen to work with the Aurora Orchestra over the next three years as an Aurora Beacon School. The partnership will mean that students at Lister will have many opportunities to work with professional musicians in a variety of ways and on many different projects.

The first project starts next week, and sees Year 9 students from Lister teaming up with the Aurora Orchestra and the Science Museum. Our students will be participating in workshops, the first of which takes place on Friday 25th September during the school day, to compose new music for objects in the exhibitions at the Science Museum. We have space for up to 100 Year 9 students to visit the Science Museum for a very special live concert given by the Aurora Orchestra in and around different exhibits. Details of the visit are as follows:

Event: Aurora Orchestra ConcertDate: Monday 28th SeptemberLocation: Science Museum, KensingtonMeeting point and time: Lister Community School 4.45pmTravelling to: Science Museum by private coachReturning to school 11pmDress: School uniformCost: £FREE

Students should be in full school uniform – any students arriving to take part in the trip in non-school uniform will be sent home.

Please return the slip overleaf by Wednesday 23rd September to give consent for your child to participate in this trip. This is an extremely unique opportunity and I expect this trip to be fully booked very quickly. Please note that as this trip returns late at night we fully expect students to be picked up by an adult.

Yours sincerely,
