  • Description: Design a magazine cover that shows a portrait and articles about myself.

PROCESS (Programs, Tools, Skills, Focus Principles)

I didnt have a hard time deciding on what magazine I wanted to be featured on. Here in the Dallas Ft. Worth area, both cities have their own magazine. I went to high school in the outskirts of Dallas, but my family and I all reside in Fort Worth. Most magazines try to draw you in with information you really want to know, but wont give out any details until you open up their magazine and start reading. I tried to give that same feel. I included things I like and show a good representation on who I am. I love trying out new restaurants and bakeries. I cansit and watch an unhealthy amount of cooking and baking shows if allowed to. I love all sports. The Dallas Cowboys are always a heated subject with people- you either love them or hate them. Iconsider my playlists on Spotify absolute gold. I grew up going to every band and concert Icould possible go to. In fact, my husband and I learned later in our marriage we went to manyof the same concerts when we both lived in Utah. I used to live in Flower Mound, TX during my high school years. After Utah and Alaska, my husband and I relocated to Fort Worth, TX.

The process of my cover photo:

Create self-portrait in my kitchen. This area had the best natural light during the day. I set my camera on a tripod, turned on a timer, and took several photos of myself. I taped a whiteposter board behind me on a kitchen chair to make the masking process easier in Photoshop.

Brought picture into Lightroom for light editing.Brought picture into Photoshop for light editing.Opened up InDesign and created a 8.5 x 11 inch page.Placed in my PSD document.Started adding text boxes and played around with the alignment.Added text articles to the text boxes.Played around with font size and color.Saved the InDesign file and and exported as a JPEG at 150 ppi.

  • Description

Create a presentation using the Prezi software to demonstrate its features and capabilities.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Focus Principles)

I have never heard of Prezi before. This was my first time doing a presentation with images.I looked at examples online and from other students to help me get an idea on how I should set it up.

    1. When I started brainstorming what I should do for my Prezi project, my dog was having a rough day. She had a hard time getting up from the ground. I had to help her outside to use the bathroom and also to eat. I spent the day doing homework on the floor next to her bed. I started reminiscing about when my dog was younger and her body didnt slow her down. It dawned on me I should do my Prezi project about dogs.

    2. I found my images from http://www.unsplash.com. I searched for the word, dog and downloaded twenty three images.

    https://unsplash.com/search/dog

I gathered all the photos into a folder. I made notes on what each picture represented to me.

    4. I watched the Prezi into-tutorial videos under this weeks lesson.

    6. I opened up Prezi, added my background picture, and started editing.

    7. I started adding texts to my pictures and adjusting the frame sizes.

  • PhotoDesignDescription

Create a project that encompasses good photography, color, and design skills.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles)

The steps I followed in my process were:

    1. I decided I wanted to take a picture of my cactus plant. My house is a bit chaotic. The only place that stays clean is my white desk by my bed. I knew it would be the perfect place to take my picture.

    2. There wasnt much work on setting up the picture. I made sure everything was off of my desk. I moved the cactus plan from the left and the right side of my desk. I made sure my bedroom window blinds were open to let in the natural light.

    3. I did some editing in Photoshop. I played around with the vibrance and sharpening.

    4. I played around with different types and colors that match the potted cactus and the blue wall.

    5. I started adding star shapes to my picture, adding and deleting as I go.

  • DescriptionDesign a spiritual picture in Photoshop. Show examples of blending images together and adding appropriate font.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles)I had the quote in mind when I thought how to start my montage project.

    1. After I had my quote, I went to unsplash.com to look for my image. I wanted to find one that showed an example of someone doing something really hard, pushing through and accomplishing it. I started looking at rock climbing pictures. From there, I found my image ofsomeone standing on a tall mountain looking over the town.

    2. In Photoshop, I combined my two pictures into their own layers. I then added font into anew layer as well.

    3. I worked on blending the picture of Hinckley into my outdoor photo. This took me a whileto get right.

    4. I moved around the font set up and the Hinckley picture to have it more aligned. I then worked on improving my font type.

    5. After my critique, I decided to take out the profile picture of President Hinckley and decide to add in some sun rays to emphasize hope in the picture. I wasnt happy with my draft. After doing some more revisions, I feel better about my picture.

  • Description: Create a logo for a company/organization and a visual identity.I chose to design a logo for a neighborhood grocery store.

PROCESS (Programs, Tools, Skills, Focus Principles)

    1. I knew I wanted to learn how to draw food/fruit in Illustrator and in In Design. I sketched many ideas on what I wanted to do.

    2. I settled on focusing on lemons. This took me a while to draw. I am not at all a pro with the pen tool, but I am at least better than where I was two weeks ago with it.

    3. My drafts I turned it on our Facebook discussion group were fine, but I knew they needed a lot of work. Not only did it need some work, it just didnt look complete to me.

    4. I decided to scratch my original plan of a single lemon and try to incorporate something different. I attempted a pineapple, but that was way over my head. I then decided to try a lemon, lime, and half of an orange. This took me a very long time to do!

    5. I tried a light color for my business card. I wasnt sure how that would be with my stationary, so I kept my stationary paper white.

  • Web Page MockupDESCRIPTION

Design a website homepage in Photoshop using a grid.

PROCESS (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles)

    1. I made my logo in Illustrator and brought it over to Photoshop.

    2. I knew the theme of my webpage would be girly and feminine. I looked for pictures on Unsplash that were feminine, but also focused on the colors white, gray, silver, and shades of pink. I put my images in a folder on my desktop and started going through which ones I would use.

    3. I decided my four main images would each need to represent a category. I chose, Shop, Travel, Fashion and Home Decor.

    4. After my critiques, I knew I had to make some changes. My background originally wasvery pink. I decided it was a little too strong. I brought in a bouquet image to put on top of the webpage. I brought down the opacity. I then used my eyedropper and chose light shade from one of my roses for the overall background color. I also changed the fonts upand made all the adjustments my instructor recommended me doing.
