Challenge 1: Profile me!

This is the synopsis of Rudyard Kipling’s famous story ‘The Jungle Book’. It gives a

hint about some of the different animals in the story and their

character/personality.

Your task; Read the synopsis and then create a ‘character profile’ of one of the

characters – think about the way that they behave and what it tells us about them.

Challenge 2; Describe the adventure!

Watch this video for a ride on the ‘dragonfly’ in the rainforest.

https://www.mashpilodge.com/explorations/the-dragonfly/

If you have time, there are other videos to watch too – how about the ‘skybike ride’?

This must be an adventure of a lifetime – a real cable car ride through the canopy of

the rainforest!

Your task is to describe your journey – include the start of the journey when you

climb up the stairs of the ‘launch tower’ to your awaiting ‘cage’ What do you see and

hear as you travel through? Is the air warm or humid? Is your heart pounding with

fear or beating furiously with excitement?

Tell me all about it!

Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=5j9GBRLdQGA&feature=emb_logo

to find out how the South American rainforests were formed.

Now write an explanation as to how the rainforest was formed and include at least 5 facts

that you have found out.

Challenge 4

Here are some clues to help you guess some of the different animals and insects that

live in the rainforest or jungle.

Here’s a video of different rainforest animals that might help.

Did you guess them all? Your challenge is to write your own animal ‘riddles’ to

provide clues about some of the creatures that live in the jungle or rainforest.

To make it really tricky, can you make them into rhyming riddles?

Answers 1 = spider 2 = monkey 3 = lion 4 = tree frog

leopard.

different features you need to include

Challenge 9; Time Zones

Look at the poster below showing the different time zones around the world. It’s

based on Greenwich Mean Time in London and shows the difference in times around

the world. Therefore, for instance, if it was 9am in London, then it would be 10am

in Oslo as Oslo is +1.00 hour, whereas it would be 6am in Buenos Aires as it’s -

3.00hours.

What time is it?

It’s 10 am in London…..what time is it in…..New York…..Riyadh……Helinki?

It’s 8.45pm in London…what time is it in….Kuwait…..Athens…..Montreal?

It’s 1.20am in London…what time is it in….Hong Kong….Sydney and Chicago?

Now make up your own ‘what time is it?’ statements and questions to ask a member

of your family.

in an environmentally sustainable way and, in return, are paid a fair price.

on your new discover.

Don’t forget to add where you found it, what it was doing, what the weather was

like, it’s habitat, foot and any special features.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge 15; How big is your footprint?

Calculate your family carbon footprint using this link -
