Circuit Description 13-1 Overall Block Description Supplementary Functions Processor Block The functional part of a direct view type TV consists of the System, Deflection and Power parts. The Ass'ys are classified by the corresponding functions unlike the existing model, and the chassis consists of two layers by adopt- ing a low depth CRT. Unlike the existing model (K60A), the Deflection Block has been implemented with a separate Ass'y. The Power Block is similar to that for the existing model (K60A). Although the System Block looks similar to the D-Module of the existing model (K60A), it handles most input and output signals by implementing the Micom Block, Tuner Block and Audio AMP Block within it. The AV signal is input through the AV port and Side AV port of the System Board and multiplexed by TEA6425 and AD converted by VPC3230, MPEG and Digital Audio decoded by S5H2020A and then I2S processed by S3C2800X. Finally, the visual quality improvement IC, DNIe, improves the visual quality. The audio signal is processed as for K60. A MUX has been added to enable selection of HDMI and the DTV signal and the Audio Delay Module has been implemented on the System Board. The HDMI function has been additionally added to the existing DVI function and the interface has been designed so that the inter- face connections of digital devices can be made easily. On the most significantly changed Deflection Board, the correction circuit to complement problems caused by the larger deflection angle of the CRT and the CRT properties has been added. In addition, the NS Correction Block, HRS, Focus, and H-Drive Blocks have been changed when compared with those of the K60A chassis. The Power Part is similar to that as for the K60A. STR and TRANS have been changed and the number of connector pins for con- necting Ass'ys has been changed. Micom Block is the same as for the K60 except for a change in CPU control.

■ TEA6425: RF-CVBS, AV, 480i, Y (Super) Switching and Monitor Out. ■ VPC3230: 480i, CVBS, Y/C (SUPER) Input and Video Signal Processing.■ UPD64084: Separates the CVBS signal into Y and C, and performs the 3D-COM Filter function.■ CXA2171: Switches between Component 1 and 2.■ MST9883A: 480p, 720p, 1080i Signal ADC.■ S5H2020A : MPEG Decoder, Digital Audio Decoder.■ S3C2000X(CPU): Controls the overall operations of the System Board.■ MSP4440: Receives and decodes the SiF, analog audio and digital audio signals.■ SILI9993: HDMI Signal Receiver. This outputs the 24 bit R/G/B video signal and the digital audio signal in I2S format.■ TDHU2(Tuner): Receives 1 Input and transmits 8 bit TX data to EAGLE in case of DTV.■ Other: The Anynet function and the S/W update implemented through the Anynet port. An Optical output port implemented fordigital audio output.

⊙ The System Board, which handles all input and output signals, consists of Audio, Video, Micom and Deflection Blocks.

⊙ External input consists of AV 1, 2, 3, 4 (3 and 4 are implemented using the same ports as for Component), S-VHS 1, 2,Component 1, 2 and the new HDMI port.The number of AV and S-VHS Inputs has been increased by implementing the SIDE AV input port as an additional input unlike forthe existing model.AV, Y(Super), and CVBS inputs are multiplexed in TEA6425, separated into Y/C trough the 3D-COM Filter(UPD64084) and sent tothe VPC3230 (Decoder).The signals are sent to the visual quality improvement chip SPD41 (DNIe Lite) via the MPEG decoder, S5H2020A. The signals arethen sent to the Deflection IC, CXA2165.The final R/G/B signals are sent to the CRT Ass'y, amplified, and then displayed on the screen through the CRT.

⊙ The DTV signal is output from the Tuner as an 8 bit digital signal and directly sent to the MPEG decoder, S5H2020A. The restof the signal processing is the same as that for the analog signal.Especially as the digital audio signal is included in the 8 bit data, the decoder separates the audio signal and sends the digital datain I2S format to MSP4440 (Audio Processor).Monitoring output for DTV supports both video and audio. For audio output, there are both digital type SPDIF and analog type Lt/Rtinterfaces.

⊙ For external audio, input is supported by MSP4440 without additionally switching the IC. MUX IC, 74VHC244 has been used toenable selection of DTV and HDMI input. AMP has been implemented by the same circuit as that for the existing K60A. Outputpower has been decreased from 15W +15W to 10W +10W.

⊙ The AUDIO Delay module has been implemented in the System Board unlike for K60A.

⊙ The newly implemented HDMI interface for this K62A is an upgraded version of the DVI interface, which was implemented inthe U.S. version of K60A. The HDMI interface supports digital audio unlike the DVI interface. HDMI supports the video formats of 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i.

13-2-2 Deflection Board Block Description

■ CXA2165: CRT Driver IC. This transmits the signal for the CRT DRIVE to the Deflection Board.■ TDA6111Q: This amplifies the small R/G/B signals transmitted to the System Board and transmits the amplified signal to theelectron gun of the CRT.

⊙ The Deflection Block consists of the CRT Driver part of the System Board, the CRT Ass'y part and the Deflection Block thatcontrols the overall deflection.

⊙ CXA2165 is the final block that performs the R/G/B signal processing in the System Board and transmits the EW, H-Drive sig-nal, which is important for deflection control, to the Deflection Block.

⊙ The structure of the Deflection Board is similar as that for K60A. The HRS correction circuit for compensating for the propertiesof the CRT has been added and the existing Focus, NS Correction, and EW Block have been changed.
