A small nursery was constructed for propagation in a controlled environment. During the clearance of the bamboo, a second well was uncovered. The water from the two wells will eliminate the expenses of water. However, a water pump and hose is
needed and will be purchased as soon as the funds are available (around $500). The devoted, dedicated members of the Alexandria Community maintained the grounds, planted and cut the grass, removed the snow, repaired equipment, kept the house open and lovingly drove the Shuttle Bus for those unable to tour the property on foot. The Task Force Committee along with many of the friends is deeply touched and sincerely grateful for the services rendered by this community and all others who helped. Liability Reduction
The money we owe falls into two categories:
1) Loans from individual Bahais with interest rates rangingfrom zero to 5% . . . . . . . . . . . . . $318,000
2) The Bank Loan @ 5.5%with various fees . . . . . . . . . . . . $394,423
Total owed in January 2010 . . . . . . $712,423
Payments made toward theBank Loan during 2010 . . . . . . . . . ($19,423)
Total owed in December 2010 . . . . $693,000It has been expressed by the friends that it is in the best interest of the Bahais whenever possible to keep the Deed and control of Bahai Property under the Administration ofBahai institutions. Therefore, every effort is being made to pay first the Bank Loan as funds become available. The Bahai lenders are in agreement for this arrangement and as soon as possible, payments will be made on the principle oftheir loans.

On April 5, 2001 the Deed to the property was granted to the Bahais for the sum of
one million seven hundred thousand dollars ($1,700,000). In todays real estate market
the value of the property is between $12 and $14 million dollars. The vision for these43.6 acres was and is to create a regional Bahai Center for the Washington, D.C.
metropolitan area, to serve as a powerful instrument for diffusing the spirit of the
Faith, its principles and its administrative order. Devotion to the Capital Area Bahai Center has inspired many of the friends toincrease their contributions, open or extend their Auto-Pay (Automatic withdrawal
from their checking accounts), and encourage Local Assemblies to include the Capital
Area Bah' Center in their budget contributions. If each one pledges whatever is in
their heart we will be able to honor our debts, allocate funds for the next Phase in our
Property Beautification Program and, God Willing, create plans to erect a building inthe beautiful gardens.Abdul-Baha pronounced during His meetings with the friends in Washington, DC:
And now you, if you act in accordance with the Teaching of Bahaullah, may rest
assured that you will be aided and confirmed in all affairs which you undertake, and
you shall be rendered victorious. And further, You have been given the Spiritual
Power to accomplish great undertakings. Ya Bahaul-Abha! With heartfelt thanks
and appreciation, for your continued prayers, we look forward to hearing from you.In His Service, Capital Area Bahai Center Task ForceAppointed by the Assembly of Prince Georges County SouthComposed of members from Maryland and Virginia

Considering a unit to be one dollar a day ($365 a year) then 500 Bahs andinstitutions contributing one unit each year will achieve the goal of developingthe property and paying off the loans that made the purchase possible. Many
individuals and institutions will want to take on two or more units.
