FIRE CONTROL SYSTEMTHE COMPREHENSIVE 120 MM SYSTEMDeveloped by Hirtenberger Defence Systems (HDS), the tough and dependable M12 120 mm weapon system comprises a

120 mm long-range weapon available in different barrel lengths, a family of ammunition, auxiliary field equipment, sighting

systems and a fully digital fire-control system containing all ballistic data. The M12 can achieve a range of up to 8 500 metres,

ensuring maximum firepower and reliability in challenging conditions. The system is quick to deploy and easy to operate and

can be mounted on a specialised transport solution provided by HDS. The precise engineering and carefully coordinated

development of the M12 facilitates high degrees of effectiveness in the most extreme environments, enabling optimal perfor-

mance – and safety – all times. HDS ammunition is made to the highest quality and safety standards, and includes high-ex-

plosive, smoke variants (white phosphorous, red phosphorous and titanium tetrachloride), visible and infrared illumination, as

well as training ammunition.

The bipod carries the barrel clamp, shock absorbers, damper rings, traver-sing, elevating, and cross levelling ge-ars and the bipod legs with spikes and cross struts. The buffer springs are made of stainless steel, the damper rings of rubber. All gears are made of stainless steel and protected againstwater and dust.

The A06 Mortar Sight is mechanical aiming device a was developed for indirect aiming of mortar in azimuth and elevation with precise elevation and azimuth adjustment by worm gear. The optic has a magnification of 2.6x and a field of view of 9 °; a crosshair reticle and its dovetail mounting is according to NATO standard. The complete telescope, with 2.6x magnification, can be tilted +/- 25 ° and rolled axially 90 °, ensuring convenient operation, particularly with different types of mortars. For night operations, the A06 is equipped with an LED electrical illumination system powered by two standard batteries 1.5 V (type AA), providing illumination of the scales, bubbles and reticle.

BIPOD

SIGHTING UNITDesigned for highest stability on all kinds of terrain and ground, it is made of welded steel and has six ribs and vents to ensure the desired result.

The barrel is made of high-strength ESR special steel. It is forged, heat-treated and machined to close tolerances. The forged breech plug is screwed into the barrel. A specially developed sealing ring guarantees gas-tightness. The firing mechanism can be switched from fixed to triggered firing. A safety lever is provided on the breech to avoid inadvertent firing. The breech ball fits into a socket in the centre of the base plate, where it is fixed by a bayonet nut.
