FOR THE OLDER (55 AND UP), PRACTICALITY CORRESPONDS TO 32% OF THE ANSWERS

40% OF THE RICHER: PRACTICALITY SEEMS TO BE THE MAJOR RESPONSE FOR CYCLING
ONLY 15% OF THE POORER: PRACTICALITY SEEMS TO BE CRITICAL
FOR THE POORER: LOW COST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR
CONCERN WITH ENVIROMENT PLAYS THE SAME ROLE FOR RICHER AND POORER.ONLY 2% OF BOTH GROUPS INDICATE THAT THEY USE A BIKE BECAUSE IT IS A MORE ENVIROMENTAL FRIENDLY MODE OF TRANSPORT.
FINDINGS
No single profile of cyclists: diversity of social and economic profiles.
Motivation to start cycling: low cost, practicality and safety
To improve the frequency of cycling: infrastructure is critical.
This results are the same in both large and medium size cities.
