Treatment Updates Importance of the participation in research efforts. • "Research drives treatment and treatment drives

evaluation." -Tom Moore PhD • Research is needed to increase the efficacy of treatment

efforts to problem gambling clients. • One way we conduct critical evaluation is through the

client satisfaction surveys and follow up surveys conducted by Herbert & Louis.

• Recommendation: Continue the discussion throughout the treatment episode.

Presentation Notes
2015 PGS Calendars have been distributed to county pg prevention coordinators. AMH does not have any additional boxes of calendars any longer. From feedback from regional trainings, AMH and Lane County’s Julie Hynes are working on taking the preventioncoordinators web page and rebuilding it to include both sides of our system: Prevention and treatment. We have purchased a new web address oregonpgs.org for this venture and work on this web page will start in December with plans to rebuild website structure to include Prevention and Treatment resources, update current materials that are available for providers to utilize (PowerPoints, data, other resources) and add additional resources. Flex funds: Currently problem gambling funds are within MH37 (know as flex funds), however they have not been flexible as they must be used for problem gambling services. In FY 2015-16, pg funds will not longer be in flex funds and will go back to being under a service element. This change does not really make any real changes to system as when we moved to flex funds we did not follow that model. FY 2015-16 service element language has been drafted. There is not a lot of changes in performance measures. One large change is that we have removed the option for settlement of funds not used. This has been replaced with incentive language. At this time we have not formulated what incentives will look like or this process, however we will continue the discussion of service elements in future meetings when the language has been approved. Roxann is offering prevention coordinators a one time funding opportunity through mini-grants. If you want more information, contact Roxann. The lottery and PGS have begun discussions on the development of new pg materials. These materials will have a similar look and feel as the new OPGR web page. Roxann is polling prevention coordinators to get an idea on format of materials, topics, populations and quantities. PGS will draft language and will use our provider network for review. More information to come in future meetings. Upcoming Training Opportunities: See next slides.

Oregon Lottery Project Updates

Presented by Shad Barnes

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The new OPGR web page launched on October 31. Over the past month we have been working out quirks in the system. The purpose of the creation of the new site is to get away from the dark and gloom feel of the old page and move towards a feeling of hope. Communication and promotion of the new web page will begin in the new year, once additional content has been added and kinks are worked out. Lottery and the Latino Advisory Committee is currently working on the Spanish version of this site and other language options will be discussed in the future. During the webinar, a demonstration was given of self assessment on the web. This assessment was asked for in paper version. The assessment was developed from an assortment of self assessments found online and we are going to work with our evaluator to create an assessment that is valid and reliable. We will also develop a self assessment for family members and significant others.

Presented by Michele Tantriella- Modell

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Our November numbers for calls and chats are down due to the transition to the new web page and working out kinks. The November number of web hits is not accurate due to facebook policy, which has been fixed and lottery does have a more accurate number which is showing the hits to be consistent with October.
