The World’s Leading Adult AD/HD Organization2

WelcomeAs the 2005 Conference Chairman, it is my privilege to invite you to join us in Tucson, Arizona for the 11th Annual ADDA Conference, to be held at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, May 12-15, 2005. Once again, we are proud to offer you the most up-to-date, comprehensive program addressing current issues facing adults with AD/HD.

So often, I have heard people say that attending an ADDA conference for the first time was a “life-changing experience” for them. Such was the case for me when I attended my first ADDA conference several years ago. I know of no other conference where the opportunity to network is so convenient and produces such lasting friendships. It is our desire to provide you with an atmosphere where you can connect with people who face many of the same challenges of living with AD/HD as you do and reacquaint yourself with old friends.

The theme for the 2005 conference is New Frontiers in AD/HD. In addition to providing you with the latest best practices of AD/HD, we have further enriched and balanced the conference with hot topics such as cognitive behavioral therapy, music therapy, eating disorders, and issues encountered in college and in the workplace.

Due to the many positive comments on the 2004 evaluations we are once again offering a slower pace, with half-hour breaks between sessions, 2-hour lunches, and free time on Saturday afternoon and evening to enjoy the resort.

Our Conference Management Team has worked hard to put together a comprehensive program with expert speakers unparalleled in the field of adult AD/HD. This is truly a conference where people of differing interests and backgrounds can be empowered to learn more and to share in a wealth of current ideas and information. On behalf of the Conference Management Team and the Board of Directors, I encourage you to attend this rewarding conference. We look forward to seeing you in Tucson!

Terry M Dickson, MD2005 ADDA Conference ChairpersonADDA Board of Directors

Conference ActivitiesThursday Afternoon Welcome to ADDASomething new! There will be an orientation for individuals new to AD/HD and/or new to an ADDA conference. This “free” session will take place during the pre-conference on Thursday afternoon from 1:45-5:00 PM and will be facilitated by the ADDed Dimension Coaching Group. They will give you an orientation to the conference itself and also let you know what to expect and tips on how to take care of yourself now and when you go home. It has been our experience that adult AD/HD conferences are about much more than gathering useful information. They act as a healing experience, and allow AD/HD individuals to connect with others in similar situations and for powerful emotions to surface. The group will explore some of the common issues that arise for conference participants and will also tell stories from past conferences. In addition, you will have the opportunity to share your own stories and connect with each other in smaller groups. This is a great way to meet people, especially if you have come to the conference by yourself. For more information, please see a detailed description on the ADDA website at http://www.add.org.

Thursday Night Welcome ReceptionJoin us Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM for light refreshments as we open the 2005 conference. This is a great time to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

Saturday Afternoon and Evening Free TimeSessions will conclude by 3:30 PM on Saturday to allow for free time. Please take advantage of the many activities offered at the resort including: several swimming pools, one of which offers volleyball and a swim-up bar, another is specifically for children; water slide; tennis; golf; volleyball; and much more.
