and Dons are lower lands. Geologically the area is comprised with Archean granites, gneisses and schists.
The area is covered by 73 E quadrangle and forms part of the Chotanagpur plateau where the main rock-types
are granite, granite gneiss, augen gneiss and migmatite, collectively known as Chotanagpur granite gneiss.
Within these granitic rocks, there are enclaves of metamorphic rocks, mostly with E-W trend - consisting of
quartzites, mica shcists, crystalline limestone and calc-silicate rocks and amphibolites. The meta sediments
occurring in the south viz., phyllites, mica schists and quartzites, together with basic volcanic flows, are
classified under iron ore group. The other monor rock-types present are pegmatite and quartz veins, meta
dolerite and meta-gabbro and laterite. The general orientation of foliation in the rocks is E-W. Folds and
lineations mostly plunge lowly towards ENE. However, the rocks are involved in polybase deformations which
have brought about swings in the foliation and complex geometric patterns of the structural elements.
Metamorphically, the rocks attained very high grades, as revealed by the formation of sillimanite and anatectic
melting of the metamorphic. Granite formation apparently took place in two phases. The precambrian shield
was faulted by later earth movements to form roughly EW trough where the fresh water gondwana sediments
were accumulated.
Lithology
No rock unit is exposed in the area applied for proposed project.
Structure
Not applicable in absence of rock unit.
Natu re of Mineralisation
Not applicable in absence of rock unit.
Effect of Weathering
Not applicable in absence of rock unit.
Nature of Wall Rocks
Not applicable in absence of rock unit.
Physical Characteristics
The brick earth is light brownish. The brick earth is suitable for making the bricks.

'e) Ultimate Pit Limit
It is an Brick Clay Mining Project and the ultimate pit limit is the boundary of 0.999 Hectare land,
with its safety margin as per the closure plan.
5.0Drainage
The district is highly dissected by rivers of varying magnitude. The major river in the district runs
from north to south direction through the Ratu and Lodhma. The area in the eastern part of the water
divide is drained by Subarnrekha and the western part of the divide is drained by South Koel and
Karo. The important river basins are the Subarnrekha, the South Koel, the Damodar and the
Karkari. The Kanchi and Raru are the tributaries of river Subarnrekha. The South Koel originates
from Piska near Ranchi. The Karkari river drains the southeastern part of the distric. Topographical
features of the city facilitate proper drainage throughout the city. The city is sloping away in the
four directions more or less from the center. About 50 % of the roads have both side drains and
remaining 50% are without drains. Over 40% of the drains are kutchha drains. The total length of
kutchha drains is about 182.72 km, while pucca drain length is about 258.32 km. There is the need
of restructuring and lining of the drains. De-silting of all the drains is required to avoid chocking

12.0Measures Taken and to be Taken for Control of Water, Noise and Air Pollution
General ground level in nearby area of project is 710 mRL whereas level of ground water table is
around 7 meters below from general ground level Thus ground water table in the area is at around
703 mRL. This level fluctuates around 3 meters in dry and wet season. In dry season it lowered
around 3 meters. Proposed deepest working will be around 2 meters deep. Thus ground water will
not come across.
Dewatering
During monsoon the rain water of direct precipitation will collect in the working pits. The monsoon
water of upper altitude side may also collect in the pit.
A drain will be provided around the pit to divert the rain water away from the pit.
The rain water come across during the monsoon, the rain water will collect in the pit. This water will
percolate in Brick Earth.
The source of drinking water is tube well and hand pumps, which are away from the area and thus
not get any adverse effect from mining.

Air Pollution
The roads within the area will be kept wide, smooth and properly wet by water spray.
Dust pollution Measures proposed
A. All .the haul roads will be kept wide, leveled and compact.
Regular water Sprinklers should be done on road from site to tar road once or twice in a day
especially during dry season to check the generation of dust during vehicular movement.
B. The green belt in and near the lease area will minimize dispersion of dust in near by area. The
proposed plantation is illustrated on the plan.
C. The proposed plantation along both sides of haul road from tar road and between tar road and
mine site will also check the spread of dust in near by area.
D. Monitoring in six month is proposed for assessment of impact for generation of dust due to
vehicular movement, drilling, blasting and loading etc. and measures should be adopted to minimize
the gaseous pollution.
Personal Protective Equipment
The safety helmet, safety shoos, safety belts will be provided to the labourers. The dust respirators
will be provided to the workers who will work near the noise creating machines.
13.0Contribution Regarding the Social Development of the Nearby Residents
The socio-economic benefits can be maximized, if environmental concerns are integrated in
planning during development of the project i.e., by eco-friendly mining. The environmental patterns
likely to be affected are as follows:
There is no impact of mining on local residents of the area as habitation is away from the proposed
area. The maximum persons will be employed from nearby villages. There is no source of
employment in near by area and thus the employment will develop by the proposed mining activity
in near by area. The villagers may use the wastage of bricks (not sailable) free of cost.
The impact of mining on social demographic profile is always positive, because all the persons have
been employed from nearby villages. Apart from indirect employment, some persons get satellite
occupation like tea stall, shops and small workshops due to mining activities in the area. Some
