Post Study Work (PSW) Visa

Completing Your PSW Visa Application Form

Applying for a PSW visa is something you need to plan and prepare in advance and totake time to complete the application and receive all the required documents. A PSWvisa is not guaranteed and only if you make a correct application and provide all therequired supporting documents that meet the requirements of the Home Office, then youshould not have a problem getting your PSW visa.

This Application Help Guide will assist you in completing the form. It is important toremember this is only a guide and you must take responsibility to answer the questionsaccording to your circumstances.

Applying for a PSW visa is an option only, you are not guarantee a visa and youmay not be able to apply from the UK, but you can apply from your home country.

It is very important that you have the correctapplication form for what you are applyingfor and that it is the most up-to-date versionof the application form.

When you are ready to send your applicationby post, you will need to address your envelope to this address.

Remember to send it by Special Delivery andto keep the receipt, as this is proof you havesent your application to the Home Office.

Make sure you complete your personaldetails and give your address in the UK.

You only need to complete A5 if you want theHome Office to post documents to someoneelse.

A postal order can be purchased in the PostOffice. You give them cash and they will give

you a postal order, which looks like a cheque.There is a fee for this.

You can also use a bank card or debit/creditcard to pay. It is not recommend to use anoverseas card, as this could cause problemin paying the application fee.

If you do use a card make sure to tick thecorrect fee amount and to sign and date.Failure to do this will result in the HomeOffice not being able to take your fee.

Cash can only be used if applying in person.

This page only needs to be completed if you have anydependants applying at the same time as you. Dependants aretypically Husbands, wives and children.

You will need 2 identical photographs. These need to be taken withinthe last month. They must also be the correct size and your head/faceneeds to be the correct size too. Do not smile and nothing in front of 

your face.

It is recommend that you take them in the photo booth in the StudentUnion or in the city and make sure they are correct. Or you can go to aprofessional photographer who knows the requirements for passportsize photos.

Write your full name on the back of each photo. Put them in a smallenvelope and use a paper clip to attach it to the above section on your form.

The Photograph Policy Guidance can be found on the UKBA website.

B10 is if you have a referencenumber from a previous applicationform with the Home Office.

B12 is to be completed if you have aNational Insurance number.

B14 is to be completed if you have aUK ID Card for Foreign Nationals.

If you do not have any or all of thequestions B10 – B14, then leavethem blank.

C1-C4, this is about your nationality(eg Chinese or Japanese).

C6 The top table is for your currentpassport. All the information shouldbe on the main page of your passport.

You will need to tick Yes if you haveyour passport and you will need tosend it with your application.

The bottom table is if you have aprevious passport which as expired,or was lost or stolen. This only needsto be completed if you used thatpassport to UK enter the UK.

If you only have 1 passport then

leave it blank.

C9, this only needs to be completed if you have a UK ID Card for ForeignNationals.

Part D is about your visas to the UK.D1 is the Entry Clearance visa yougot in your home country beforecoming to the UK (below is anexample). Do you have one?

D2 is the city that is on your visa andthe country. You can find this wherethe arrows are pointing.

D3 the date on the above EntryClearance visa, as the arrow shows.

D4 is the RED number in the top-righthand corner of the visa, as the arrowshows.

D5 is hard to understand. If you have your Entry Clearance visa in your passport that youare sending to the Home Office, then tick No. If your visa was in a passport that you no longer have or if you never got an Entry Clearancevisa then tick Yes and answer the followingquestions.

If you ticked No on D5, then make sure you go to question D11 and answer the remainingquestions about your immigration history.

D15 is referring to your current (or last visa you got) and when it expires.Remember you need to apply beforethis date. This will be found on your current visa.

Part E is about your Personal History and criminal history.IMPORTANT!  You must inform the Home Office of any Criminal Convictionsand this includes traffic offences, such as speeding tickets, driving withoutinsurance, not wearing a safety belt. Failure to inform the Home Office can

result in your application to be rejected and you needing to leave the UK.

Again, this page only needs to becompleted if you have any dependantsapplying at the same time as you.Dependants are typically Husbands,wives and children.

Section 3 You should tick Initial if youhave recently finished your course or this isthe first time you are applying a PSW visa.

If you have a visa under one of theprevious working schemes and you areapplying for your second year then tickTransitional arrangements.

G1 is the degree you have mostrecently obtained in the UK.

G2 Qualification: the level of your degree(eg Masters or PhD)

Course subject: the title or subject of your degree (eg Economic or Marketing or Environmental Sciences)

Awarding body: this is: University of EastAnglia

G3 again this is: University of East Anglia

You will need to include a personaltutor, professor or academic advisor,as a reference. You should contactthem before you put their name downto ask permission if you can use them

and their details.

Tick this box only if you have your actual degree certificate from your graduation ceremony.

Tick this if you do not have your degree certificate, but have a letter from your school/faculty andtranscripts.

If you completed an eligible courseas from question G1 at UEA then youcan tick Yes to H1, as UEA is a Tier 4Licensed Sponsor.

You need to tick this box and get the

confirmation letter from your school/faculty.

J1 should be the dates from the letter from your school/faculty.

Tick J2 if you have a current andvalid visa to stud in the UK.

Tick this to show you have the letter from your school/faculty confirming thedates of your course.

Tick to show you have your passportswith your student visas.

Must tick K1 confirming that you areproviding a letter that shows you areapplying within 12 months of completing your course.

You can skip this section if you tickedInitial at the beginning of Section 3

Nothing needs to be done on thissection. You automatically get these 10points for completing a degree at a UKuniversity.

You must have £800 in order to get aPSW visa. If you do, tick Yes.

This is how you are going to prove youhave the £800 in your bank account for 3months. Most will use a bank statementfrom their UK bank account. If so, tickthe 2nd box, or the appropriate box for your evidence you are providing.

You must tick to confirm you have therequired funds.

As a condition on your student visa,most international students are noteligible for Public Funds and should tickNo. However, if you get receive publicfunds then tick Yes and answer thefollowing questions.

Student Council Tax exemption is not 

considered public funds.

You must write your name, date andsign for your application to be completeand valid.

This section is only if you havesomeone helping you with your application, such as a lawyer or solicitor. An International StudentAdvisor is not considered as arepresentative. Most students will nothave a representative applying for them

and will leave this section blank.

You must fill in how many of thedocuments you are sending in column Aand list all additional documents incolumn B. Examples would be:Bank Statement  Letter from UEA confirming dates of course Letter from UEA confirming pass Transcript and Mark Statement Pass List Degree Certificate

Also fill in how many of each you aresending.

You must complete the following tableclaiming the points needed to obtainyour PSW. Failure to do so may result inbeing refused your visa.

Please see the example on the nextpage on how you may need to completethe table and claim your points.

The table below is to be used as an example only .

The Points Claimed are correct, and you can use it as a guide, however you need tomake sure you meet the requirements to claim these points. The Documents givengive you an idea of what you need, however these will change depending on your situation and the documents you have from UEA.

Remember to answer all the relevant questions and tick the all required boxes.Before you post your application make sure you have all the required documentsenclosed. Take the time to make sure everything is correct. You will not be able tosend missing documents to the Home Office once you have applied.

Ensure you apply before your visa expires if you are applying from the UK. The dateyou post your application by Special Delivery is the date of your application. If youapply in person you will need to have your appointment before your visa expires.Post your application to the address on the front of the application form.
